Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – Survival Instincts

The corrupted code waves weren't just attacks — they were alive, writhing like digital serpents. Every move Aditya made caused the grid beneath him to ripple and fracture. Kiran circled him, eyes sharp, but neither moved to interfere; this was a trial of survival, not a duel.

Aditya's heart raced, but his mind was calm. He was a transmigrator, and he had knowledge no ordinary resident of this world possessed. He tapped a key combination on his laptop, not to attack, but to analyze the code's behavior patterns. It wasn't just logic — it was learning, adapting to predict him.

His army training kicked in. Step one: positioning. He moved to a section of the grid where the corrupted code had fewer pathways, limiting its attack vectors. Step two: resource management. Every keystroke, every shield, every redirected code fragment was calculated to preserve energy. Step three: decoy and misdirection.

He deployed a series of small holographic projections, each echoing his own figure, and let the corrupted code lock onto the decoys instead of him. Sparks exploded across the grid, but Aditya stayed safe. Each movement was precise, each calculation meticulous — a dance between survival and strategy.

Kiran tilted his head, impressed. "I underestimated you. Most transmigrators would have panicked and been deleted."

Aditya wiped a bead of sweat from his brow, laptop glowing. "I didn't come here to just fight," he said. "I came to survive. And I'm not planning to die in Level 2."

The corrupted code shrieked digitally, then slowed, as if respecting his clever maneuvers. It wasn't gone — but for now, it let him live. Aditya knew this was a temporary reprieve, a chance to learn, adapt, and grow stronger.

He glanced at Kiran. The rival smirked, but there was something like respect in his eyes. "This isn't over. Keep surviving, transmigrator. You'll need every skill you have for what's coming."

Aditya nodded, chest heaving. Survival wasn't about strength alone. It was knowledge, strategy, and instinct. And he had all three.
