It was a quiet winter morning at Nobel School. The bell rang, students rushed through the corridors, laughter filling the air. Among them was Arjun, a quiet boy who always sat in the last bench. He wasn't the topper, nor the most popular—but he had a kind heart.
Every day, when the class began, his eyes would slowly drift toward the second row. That's where Maya sat.
Maya was cheerful, always surrounded by friends. Her smile could brighten even the dullest day. Arjun never spoke much to her, but in his heart she was the most important person in the classroom.
Their story was strange.
They shared the same classroom for five years, yet hardly spoke more than a few words.
Sometimes their eyes met during class.
Sometimes they both laughed at the same joke.
Sometimes they walked past each other in the corridor.
But neither of them ever said what they felt.
Arjun wrote about her in his notebook — poems, little thoughts, and memories of small moments. He never showed them to anyone.
One rainy afternoon after school, Maya forgot her umbrella. Arjun quietly walked behind her and finally gathered the courage to speak.
"Take this," he said, giving her his umbrella.
Maya smiled softly and said,
"Then how will you go home?"
Arjun shrugged and replied,
"I'll manage."
It was the longest conversation they ever had.
Years passed. The final school day arrived. Students hugged, took photos, and promised to stay in touch.
Arjun wanted to say everything he had kept inside for years. But when he saw Maya laughing with her friends, he stopped.
Instead, he just said:
"Goodbye… take care."
Maya smiled and waved.
They walked away in opposite directions.
Years later, Arjun found his old school notebook. Inside was the first page where he had written:
"Some love stories are never spoken… but they live forever in memories."
And that was their untold love story.
