Inside the classroom, the atmosphere was tense.There were still a crowd forming but nobody step in to help.
Aung Ko Ko stood in the center of the room, gripping Thuras shirt tightly,pressing Thuras back pressed against a desk, his face getting pale from losing air and his mouth started to bleed from the slap.
Everyone else stayed quiet as no one wanted to get involved.
Aung Ko Ko slowly raised his hand again.
"You really think I wont hit you?"
His voice carried a dangerous edge."Because of that stupid bandage on my head,do I become weak for you."
Thura didnt answer.His eyes stayed on the floor.All he wanted to do was helped.
He saw Aung Ko Ko with the bandage on his head this morning and he looked really angry and everyone was ignoring him.So,he got up and offered to help but instead of taking,Aung Ko Ko started to beat him.
The entire class held its breath as they prepared to watch the brutel beating on the innocent boy.
Then—"Stop it."
The voice came from the back of the classroom.Not loud.But clear enough that everyone heard it.
The room instantly fell silent.
Aung Ko Kos raised hand stopped midair.His face twisted in annoyance.
"Who said that?"
He looked around angrily."Which bastard just shouted?"
For a moment, no one answered.Then a lazy voice spoke again."Here."
A hand slowly rose from the back row.
"Here, here."
Aung Ko Kos eyes widened slightly as he realized the face of the voice owner."You?"
His voice turned sharp."What the hell are you doing here?Traitor."
Whispers spread across the classroom.Saw Paings eyes lit up instantly like he just found out some celebrities serects.
"Whoa..."
"This is big news."
Lin Thit glanced at him with a questioning eyes."What?"
Saw Paing leaned closer, lowering his voice as he explained to Lin Thit.
"That guy."
"He rarely comes to school."
Lin Thit squinted toward the back.A boy slowly stood up from his seat.The most noticeable features about him are his messy hair and tired eyes that looked half asleep.
Lin Thit frowned."Do you know who he is?"
Saw Paing looked at him with annoyance and Lin Thit overly questions."What do you think I am?"
"Some kind of information website?If you want to know,just search yourself."
Lin Thit and Aung San exchanged a look and understand what they must doThen they both moved at the same time.
"Sir."Lin Thit started massaging Saw Paings shoulders.
"Please enlighten us."While Aung San placed a milk drink in front of him."For your throat."
Saw Paing paused at the two licking ability.
Then he smirked.The feeling is not bad either.
"Well"
"I guess I can make an exception."
He pointed toward the sleepy boy.
"Thats Thuta Zaw.He rarely shows up during school hours.He just appears near the end of the day."
Lin Thit blinked."Why?"
Saw Paing shrugged."No one knows."
"But theres a rumor."He lowered his voice dramatically."That he used to be involved with gangs."
Aung Sans jaw dropped and asked"Since when did our school become a gangster hideout?"
Meanwhile, in the center of the classroom
The boy had already walked forward.Thuta Zaw stopped directly in front of Aung Ko Ko.His eyes still looked half closed like he had just woken up.
Without even looking at Aung Ko Ko, he spoke quietly."You."
He nodded toward Thura."Leave."
Thura hesitated for a second.He didn't want anyone to get dragged into his case but from Aung Ko Ko expression,he seemed to know him.So,he wouldn't go far.Just as Thura made up his mind,he nodded back to Thuta Zaw with a apologetic look.Then he quickly slipped away.
Now only two people remained in the center.
Aung Ko Ko.
And Thuta Zaw.
Aung Ko Ko clenched his fists."What are you doing here?"
His voice sounded forced like he's forcing himself to be brave.Thuta Zaw finally looked at him.
"Its none of your business."Then he yawned slightly.
"And keep it down."
"I'm trying to sleep."
The entire classroom went silent.Even the students watching from the door stopped whispering.For a brief moment,Aung Ko Ko hesitated.He was clearly uncomfortable.
Because the person standing in front of him
Was Thuta Zaw.
But then he remembered something.Last night.The humiliation and the beating he experienced.
His reputation dropping.
And now this guy was interfering too.His face hardened.Seeing Aung Ko Ko stay silent,Thuta Zaw tilted his head slightly.
"What?Did a cat bite your tongue?"
A few students gasped.Aung Ko Kos face turned red with anger and embarrassment.
"Damn you!"He pointed at Thuta Zaw."This isnt over!"
Then he suddenly turned around and stormed out of the classroom.The door slammed behind him.For a few seconds, nobody spoke.
Then whispers exploded across the room.
Students began talking excitedly about what happened.
Lin Thit leaned back in his chair.His eyes stayed on the quiet boy who had just returned to his seat.Thuta Zaw had already put his head down on the desk.
And within secondsHe was asleep again like nothing had happened.
Lin Thit stared at him for a moment.Then he muttered quietly to himself.
