Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: My New Life Starting as a Spider

It had been 3 days since I had been reborn as a Spider in this damn world.

My name was Noah, your average guy you could find across the street, working a restaurant job, staying inside most of the time, a weeb, one would say, but now, here I was, living the life most weebs dreamed of, craved, hoped for,…being reborn in a different world.

You see, at first, I found myself terrified, even if I did have fantasies of living out this exact scenario many times, but to think it actually happened.

Hell no, I wanted to go back home, living my boring life.

With my current body and this damn cave, I could never use a phone again, if there even was a phone in this world.

There was no anime.

No manga.

No novels.

Just me, spiders, Moss, and the silent echoing of the walls that drove me mad.

Step.

Step.

Step.

Step.

I have been training these days, trying to learn how to move like a spider.

Moving with six legs when you were once human truly was difficult.

It was like being on all fours, yet they felt like arms and legs at the exact same time.

Only after such difficult days could I finally move properly.

I guess it was because of this body's natural instincts or whatever I could chalk up to.

During the third day, I had truly accepted my current predicament.

I had expected myself to awake from maybe a coma or a dream, but no, I didn't. I still felt real pain, I smelt real air, I saw the world differently from a spider's perspective.

This really was a reincarnation, and I was now within a new body.

I won't lie, now I am happy.

The thought of being reincarnated into a monster like Tensura and Re:Monster, it made me glad it was a spider of all the things I could have been.

I could have been so much worse, like a caterpillar, or a vending machine.

Spiders surely have lots of potential, especially with my current looks.

Especially since I'm not just a spider, but a monster spider.

You see, I learned quite a bit about the other spiders around.

This place had about 200 spiders, if I had to count, with 201 being our mother, the giant spider that slept on the wall, currently.

From our current knowledge, I was a rare breed, thankfully.

I was known as a God Spider.

What this entailed, I did not know, but because of this rare genetic trait, instead of being white like my siblings, I was black, my legs covered in gold-colored fur as well as by back, my eyes gold as well.

It's crazy when you think about it.

Thank god I was blessed with this rare genetic trait.

I'm not sure what it meant, but it HAD to be good.

At the current moment, I don't know what to do.

I had been sitting in this cave for three days, and nothing really happened.

In fact, none of us did anything.

We sort of just…sat around, thinking to ourselves.

It was only after those three days that something finally occurred, and I won't lie…I wonder if this life truly was worth it.

Hmmm? What is he doing?

Looking over to my right to see one of my spider brothers slowly creeping over to another one of my siblings.

…is he about to…!!

I would watch in utter horror at the sight, seeing my own siblings as they began devouring each other, ripping each other's limbs off, eyes out, and feasting on their corpses.

"What the hell!!" I shouted, frantically getting up and scurrying my little legs as I tried to escape this blood bath.

These bastards were actually killing each other.

As I ran, the cave, once smelling earthy, only had the scent of decay and fresh blood left in the air, and our damn mother only watched.

Why the hell isn't she stopping them!?

Running to the wall, a mental command had activated in my mind…

[Wall Crawling Activated]

As I crawled up the wall, hearing this mental command, I tried to ignore it, knowing there were far greater things to worry about than that.

As I reached the top, I watched as they continued to tear at each other's throats, watching as they all acted like the monsters, they were.

Why am I surprised?

They're monsters after all.

I likely would have done the same if I didn't have my memories from my past life.

I need to get out of here fast!

Scanning the cave, I spotted a small crack in the wall.

My ticket to salvation, away from these damn monsters!

I didn't want to go to the ground, so instead, I thought about spiders.

They're most well-known for using webs, so maybe I have webs.

As I thought this, webs shot out from the tips of my legs, causing me to stumble and nearly fall.

Oh shoot!

However, I managed to save myself before I could fall, getting myself back on the wall.

Okay, let's try this.

Thinking about webs again, I was able to effortlessly aim at the roof with my web.

Whoa!

I actually hit it on the first try!

This must be my spider genes kicking in.

Using this chance, I let go off the wall, letting myself wing, feeling the song freeze against my eyes until I was on the other side, having swung past the massacre under me.

By letting go with my legs, I was able to throw myself all the way towards the crack, landing on my fragile legs.

I thought they were about the snap because of the force with which I landed.

Thankfully, they didn't, but that wasn't the end of my troubles.

To think they were so determined to kill me, too, that the remaining few had begun scurrying toward me with predatory eyes.

"You bastards!" I shouted in the spider tongue, scurrying into the crack, squeezing with all my might, slipping into the gap as the other spiders tried reaching for me, some using this as a chance to kill each other still.

I didn't care.

Why should I?

It was after scratching myself against the hard rock that I finally managed to reach the other side, although somehow, another one of the spiders squeezed through, unable to escape the gap.

"...damn you!" I shouted once again, using my front legs, which were far sharper than even my own mother, who was giant compared to everyone else and older, stabbing him in the head, killing him on the spot.

"....."

I didn't know what to think at the moment.

I had been relaxing for the first three days, trying to assess my current predicament.

To think that on my fourth day of reincarnation, I would actually kill someone, let alone witness a massacre between my entire family.

Yes, it was justified since they were trying to attack me, and yes, I am a human soul, but still…

Even if I didn't know them all that well, it still pained me to actually kill a family member.

"Sigh. I can't focus on this, right now I'm…"

Once I was about to say something, I felt my stomach growl.

"Oh, I'm hungry. Damn, I could really eat…"

I paused for a moment, looking at my sibling.

My fangs hit together, and drool leaked from my mouth.

The instincts of a spider monster had begun to overcome me.

Slowly, lurking closer, the front legs bared as I lost myself to the hunger that had overcome me.

"H-Huh?"

I gazed upon the headless corpse of my brother, realizing I had eaten his head. I began using my legs to wipe the blood off my face, wanting to erase the evidence, but shortly after, it was as if something shot my brain.

"Screeeeeeech!"

A spider's scream left my mouth, feeling something mold itself to me, something ethereal and nonexistent.

[Your skills have been enhanced.]

That is what I heard.

A monotone voice told me those words before the pain stopped.

"W-W-What was that? Skills? Who said that?"

I scanned around, yet nothing could have possibly told me that.

Could there be some sort of skill system in this world?

Just the thought of that made me realize how foolish I had been.

"Status!" I asserted, hoping for a status screen to show up…yet nothing did. "....no status…? Oh… Um, skills?"

I said, hoping for a second try, yet nothing appeared before me.

No screen.

No levels.

No stats.

No skills.

Nothing.

"....well, that sucks. Sigh. I guess I shouldn't have been too stupid to think an actual status screen would appear. Well, I need to survive for now. I should find a way to make a shelter. That should be my first priority. Once I do that, then I'll try hunting and get stronger, maybe even escape this cave. At least I think it's a cave."

With this understanding set in my mind, I truly started my journey as a spider in a fantasy world.
