Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 The Power of the Blessed

"An artifact?" Jason said to himself. "But what is an artifact doing here?"

Artifacts are extremely rare amongst the world. Very few have been made known and each one has a variety of powerful abilities for those that are blessed with the power of mythological beings. Each one can change the fate of any battle and can cause massive damage to the surrounding area. Artifacts can take the shape of many different forms from swords to common accessories like rings. The artifact in Jason's possession was a necklace .

Jason looked at the artifact in his hand and examined it more closely. It was a ruby-like gem in the shape of a bird with small sapphire like shards on the wingsthat were spread above its head. At the top of the wings was a deep crimson red chain that linked together. It had a pleasant warmth to it as he held it with one hand. Jason was so enamored that he didn't hear the birds fly into the sky as something shook the tree in the distance.

Jason put the artifact on around his neck and continued climbing the cliff. The cliff was about ten meters up and he just reached the halfway mark when he heard the birds overhead. The birds flew high above him so he wasn't concerned about that. What he was concerned about though was the number of them. They flew in massive numbers. Almost enough to black out the sky.

Jason grew pale. When ordinary animals started to act strangely, something was about to happen and Jason didn't want to be here when it happened. He continued to climb up the cliff.

Finally he made it to the top and breathed a sigh of relief. His legs were shaking and his face was covered in sweat. "Finally made it out of that hole" Jason said with a grin. His victory was short lived as a loud roar echoed once more across the forest.

ROOOOAAAAAARRRR!

'I think it's angry' Jason thought to himself as sweat continued to pour off of him. He turned to the direction of his city and started to run once more.

Jason ran until his lungs hurt and his shoulder was also beginning to weigh him down. He was slowly accumulating blood loss. His vision was blurry and he was slowly losing consciousness. He finally made it to the city and he could barely stand.

Luckily his home was close by he could get some rest there. He turned right down an alley and made it through a set of double doors. The receptionist looked at him and asked "Are you ok?" but he couldn't reply. He was much too weak. He wandered down the hall opened his door and promptly collapsed on the floor.

(Jessica POV)

Jessica followed Jason and knocked on his door and it opened. 'He didn't close it properly' she thought to herself. She walked in and saw him laying on the floor covered in his own blood. 'What happened to you' she thought to herself. His blond curly hair was full of twigs from the forest. His body was muscular and full of scratches that had dried blood on them. She saw a remaining piece of an arrow sticking out of his shoulder and pulled it out.

Normally Jessica would have to look up to see him but now for once she had to look down. He was six foot even. He had so much blood on himthat she wondered how he even made it here at all. The forest was two miles away from here. She moved her arms beneath him and picked him up. She was one of the blessed so it was easy to pick up a human. She moved him to his bed and gently set him down. She was five feet five inches with blue hair that flowed like water down her back and violet eyes. Her chest was large and her hips were curvaceous. She had the appearance that would make men hang with their mouths open and saliva drip from them.

"You are lucky I was blessed by an Adarna Jason. Otherwise you might not live to see tomorrow." She said as she activated her blessing. Rainbow colored wings appeared from her back as her face shifted into that of a bird. Her violet eyes turned white and her feet turned into talons. She looked to the side and gracefully plucked a single feather from her wings and gave it to Jason. Then she started to sing and the feather started to glow.

Her song was beautiful and carefree as she slowly started to dance on the floor. She sang like she was the wind in the mountains. And her body danced like she was the wave of the sea. The feather slowly started to sink into his flesh as his injuries stopped bleeding.

The song slowly shifted and started a more upbeat tune. Her moves were faster than before but no less elegant. The feather then sank entirely into his flesh and disappeared. Jason's injuries were healed and not even a scar remained.

Jessica stopped her song as the work was done and she deactivated her blessing returning her body to normal. She then started to leave the room but paused in the doorway to take one more look at him.

"You are much more handsome when your not injured Jason. And the next time I perform, you better be awake" She said with a small smile. Then she locked the apartment and went back to her job as the receptionist.
