Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 : The First Signal

The rain slowly faded.

Dark clouds drifted across the sky as the young man stood in silence, staring at the empty battlefield around him.

The cold wind brushed past his face.

Everything felt unfamiliar.

Yet strangely… calm.

Moments ago, a voice had appeared in his mind.

[System initialization complete.]

[Welcome, User.]

Even now, the memory of those words lingered in his thoughts.

"A system…" he muttered quietly.

In his previous life, he had seen many strange things.

Hidden technologies. Secret experiments. Impossible weapons.

But something like this?

It felt completely different.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"If you're real," he said under his breath, "then show yourself."

For a moment, nothing happened.

Only the distant sound of rain hitting metal echoed through the battlefield.

Then—

A faint light appeared before his eyes.

Transparent.

Floating.

Like a window made of pale blue glass.

Words slowly formed across the surface.

[User confirmed.]

[Beginning basic synchronization.]

The young man remained completely still.

No panic.

No surprise.

Instead, he observed the strange window with careful attention, as if analyzing a target.

"So it responds…" he whispered.

His mind began working quickly.

If this "system" truly existed, then it meant something had brought him back to life.

Which raised a far more important question.

Why?

As if answering his thoughts, the blue window flickered again.

[Host condition: stable.]

[Memory integrity: confirmed.]

[Beginning initial scan.]

A faint warmth spread through his body.

It was subtle, almost impossible to notice.

But to someone who had trained his senses for years, the difference was obvious.

His muscles felt… stronger.

Not by much.

But enough to matter.

The young man slowly clenched his fist.

Rainwater slid down his fingers.

"…Interesting."

He lifted his head toward the distant horizon.

The battlefield stretched far into the darkness.

Broken armor.

Fallen soldiers.

Shattered weapons.

This world clearly wasn't peaceful.

And if he truly had been given another life…

Then this time, he would not waste it.

The blue window flickered once more.

[Primary directive established.]

[Survive.]

For the first time since waking up, the young man let out a quiet laugh.

"Survive?"

His eyes sharpened.

"That's the one thing I've always been good at."

The rain finally stopped.

And somewhere beyond the silent battlefield…

a new story had begun.
