Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Champion qualification!

Christopher led Julian into the breeding park.

Along the way, Julian saw many Pokémon living comfortably in the natural environment simulated by the breeding park.

When his gaze fell on a Pokémon resting under a tree, lines of data immediately popped up before his eyes.

Pokémon: Scyther

Aptitude: Heavenly King Level

Strength Assessment: Lv10, Novice Level

Attributes: Bug/Flying

Ability: Swarm (When HP is below one-third, Bug-type moves gain increased power)

Learned Moves: Swords Dance (Hereditary), Quick Attack, Pursuit

Individual Values: (Normal) Physical Attack: 20 / Special Attack: 25 / Speed: 19 / HP: 0 / Physical Defense: 0 / Special Defense: 3

According to the rules of this world, a Pokémon's aptitude is divided into seven different tiers: Novice, Formal, Professional, Superior (Elite), Gym Leader, Elite Four (Heavenly king), and Champion.

Aptitude cannot determine how strong a Pokémon can ultimately become, but the higher the aptitude, the easier it is for the Pokémon to break through class limitations.

Conversely, it would be extremely difficult for a Novice aptitude Pokémon to reach the Heavenly King Level.

Although this Scyther's aptitude, in Julian's opinion, was not particularly good.

But in this world, it was already considered decent aptitude!

However, this Scyther's Individual Values were not very high, with several stats almost approaching 0.

The maximum value for a single Individual Value is 31; the closer to this number, the better the Pokémon's performance in that aspect.

Therefore, Julian didn't have much interest in this Scyther.

Although he had a modifier, a single intermediate modification cost over 500 points, which didn't seem cheap either.

It seemed that Christopher noticed Julian's gaze, but he interpreted it in a different way.

He sighed, somewhat helplessly saying:

"Oh, Julian, the Pokémon here all require at least a 30,000 processing fee. They're not something you can obtain."

"Let's go."

Julian couldn't explain his true thoughts, so he just nodded and followed his footsteps.

The two walked for a while, passing through two or three areas, and finally stopped in front of a relatively small area.

"Alright, this is the area where you can choose Pokémon for free. Take a look and see if there's anything you like."

Upon hearing this, Julian looked inside.

Sure enough, just as he thought, the Pokémon here were basically common ones with low base stats and average talent.

Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow...

Julian looked for a long time but didn't find a single Pokémon with an aptitude exceeding the Novice Level, and their Individual Values were generally low.

It made sense; what could be good about what others had left behind?

He began to think seriously.

Although Julian had the modifier system, for him, he would treat every Pokémon he captured seriously, accompanying them to grow stronger together.

Therefore, when choosing a companion, Julian also had some requirements.

Individual Values and aptitude could be modified.

But... whether base stats could be changed was currently uncertain.

Among this batch of Pokémon, the one with the highest base stats in its final evolutionary form seemed to be Pidgey.

Its final evolutionary form, Pidgeot, was also known as the most classic'starter bird,' once 'temporarily released' by a certain silly person and still hasn't been called back.

Its total base stats reached 479, which was a significant improvement compared to Raticate, Fearow, and the others.

Julian thought for a moment, almost having decided on this idea, planning to choose one of the Pidgey in the area.

But just then.

"Hmm?"

—He suddenly discovered a special Pokémon!

In the center of this area, there was a tree.

And Julian had just noticed a white figure lying directly beneath that tree.

Lazy eyes, a body covered in white fur.

This was a Slakoth!

Its data immediately appeared before Yun Xiao's eyes.

Pokémon: Slakoth

Aptitude: Champion Level

Attribute: Normal

Strength Assessment: Lv9, Novice Level

Ability: Truant (During battle and action, will uncontrollably fall into a lazy state)

Moves: Scratch

Individual Values: (Rare) Physical Attack 31 Special Attack 20 Speed 18 HP 31 Physical Defense 29 Special Defense 25

...

Julian's eyes couldn't help but widen slightly.

Champion Level aptitude, rare Individual Values—how could such a Pokémon appear in this area?

Such a Pokémon was one in tens of millions; once it appeared, all Trainers would go crazy.

It seemed that Christopher, who was beside him, noticed his gaze and spoke at this moment.

"Julian, you wouldn't have taken a fancy to this guy, would you?"

His expression was a bit strange.

"Ah, this Slakoth... actually, after machine detection, its aptitude is very good."

"It's just a pity... this is a Slakoth."

He said the last sentence very softly, as if he didn't want to discourage the Slakoth too much.

Julian, however, listened carefully and looked at the Slakoth again, immediately realizing where the problem lay.

Slakoth, whose final evolution is Slaking, has extremely high base stats, a presence that can rival Legendary Pokémon!

Although this was the real world, where base stats were only a reference, if they truly fought, Legendary Pokémon were still undoubtedly stronger.

But Slaking's base stats, logically speaking, could already be said to completely overwhelm those rare starter Pokémon!

Yet, still no one was willing to train such a Pokémon.

The reason was simple: its ability.

Both Slakoth and Slaking's ability was Truant.

No matter what, they would act incredibly lazy in battle and daily life, even falling asleep directly during a battle!

Such a Pokémon, no matter how excellent its base stats, had an extremely exaggerated training difficulty.

In his memory, Julian had never heard of any top Trainer who had trained such a Pokémon.

No wonder this Slakoth, despite its good talent, was unwanted.

Because even if one captured and trained it, with Slakoth's ability, it simply couldn't be trained.

Taking it out to battle would be an even bigger joke for others!

But a flash of inspiration struck Julian.

Others couldn't train it, but he might be able to!

Intermediate modification could directly change a Pokémon's ability!

As the ancients said, if there were a Slaking with Huge Power, it could steam a big-headed fish or tear apart a non-flying one!

For him, this was simply a top-tier Pokémon!

Julian immediately made a plan.

As soon as he got this Slakoth, he would immediately use the modification opportunity given by the task to change Slakoth's ability!

Afterward, he would modify and improve its talent and Individual Values!

With this thought, Julian reached out and pointed at the Slakoth.

"Uncle Christopher, I want this Slakoth!"

Christopher's eyes widened, and he immediately pulled Yun Xiao aside.

"Are you crazy, kid? That's a Slakoth! I'm telling you, not even our Dragon Country's Elite Champions dare to say they can train such a Pokémon well!"

"Uncle Christopher, I've already decided."

Julianshook his head.

"You... you really are..."

Julian looked a bit anxious, frowned, then relaxed his brow, and said softly:

"Julian, I know you want a good Pokémon."

"How about this, I'll advance you the five thousand yuan, so you can pick a slightly better Pokémon."

"Like Hoppip, Oddish, they're all pretty good, easy to raise, and have room for growth."

Upon hearing this, Julian felt a warmth in his heart.

He knew that Christopher was thinking of him.

However, he still shook his head.

"No need, Uncle Christopher, I've already decided."

"You child!"

Christopher was also helpless, his brows furrowed, seemingly a bit angry.

"Alright, take this Poké Ball."

"For other Pokémon, you might need to say a few words and see if they're willing, but this one... you can just capture him directly."

"Ah, I really don't know what you're thinking..."

He shook his head and sighed, tossing a red and white Poké Ball to Julian.

And Julian directly threw the Poké Ball, precisely capturing the Slakoth inside.

The ball didn't even shake, perhaps because Slakoth didn't want to resist, or was too lazy to resist.

And in Julian's mind, the system's prompt sounded at this moment.
