Chapter 10 - Happy Tears

Damn, I fell asleep.

After the relief of ending the marriage contract and being back here, I ended up drifting off.

It was 6am now and the day of the party. Looking at the time though I slept for a lot longer than I should have.

I stood up and navigated towards the bathroom with familiar ease.

I had the essentials with me and took a shower, preparing for the day.

While in there I started to think about my future.

Knowing Daniel for three years has given me insight into his character. He's always been a bully who likes to get his way, and he's very spoiled. The fact that someone like me ruined something he's wanted for years, there's no way he lets that slide.

I may be relaxing a bit now, but my problems have just begun.

I finished up my shower after washing my hair, today was an important day, after all.

When I was done I dried off and got dressed in some black shorts and a white t-shirt.

Not long after that there was a knock on the door.

"Good morning, I made some breakfast. You can come eat when you're ready." Aunt Karin walked into the room, the smell from the kitchen reached my nostrils instantly.

"Thank you, I'll be there soon." Thinking about the food she cooked, it was my favorite meal when I was younger.

I stood up and went to the dining room where there was already a plate for me. I grabbed a cup and got something to drink before sitting down to eat.

The morning went by quickly. After eating I took Aunt to a few places so she had everything ready for the party later.

For the first event we had a dinner and it was a little formal so while we were out I made sure to get me a nice suit.

There was also some cologne there but something I noticed about my new physique is that there was a natural smell coming from me. It wasn't overly strong but it smelled really good.

Our reservations were at 5pm and after our day of running around it was almost 4pm.

We arrived home to get dressed and on our way there Naomi called to say she and her friends got back from the salon and were getting dressed as well.

They talked for awhile and were going to meet us there.

After we got home and got prepared it was almost time so we left the house and went to the restaurant.

I parked the car and Aunt Karin got out and went inside. I was supposed to wait in the car and go in after Naomi got there in order to surprise her.

/Lena POV\

"Our ride is here!" I stood up and walked to Naomi who was putting a bracelet on. It's one she always wore and it had her name on it but it was basically falling apart.

I've known her for a few years now and she really cherishes that thing.

I remember her telling me that one of the boys in her class bought her an expensive diamond encrusted bracelet, saying 'Now you can wear something of actual quality.'

The look on her face after that, I'd never seen her so upset.

"Birthday girl! I'm hungry!" I pouted, hoping my sad face will make her speed up.

"You're always hungry. I'm almost done, hold on." She let out a little chuckle at my antics and I walked away, going to go check on Luna.

*ruffle*

I found her struggling to zip up her dress in the next room. I walked in while smiling.

"Aha, do you need your big sisters help?" She rolled her eyes and moved her hands, allowing me to zip her up the rest of the way.

"thank you. are you two ready now?" Lunas beautiful dress matched her perfectly.

We all walked out not long after that and made our way to the limousine downstairs. It took us to a fancy restaurant and we stepped out.

Out of habit I immediately scanned my vicinity and in the parking lot I saw a very expensive car I wasn't expecting.

My desires took over and I excused myself, telling Naomi that I'd catch up soon. I quickly sped off into the direction of the car as fast as I could in heels.

I got to the jet black suv and pulled out my phone. Taking pictures of it from multiple angles, making sure to exclude the license plate. I didn't want to get anyone in trouble, I just liked nice things.

When I was finished I did a quick swipe through the photos and in the one I took of the front I could see in the windshield there was a person inside.

The windows were tinted and I was completely preoccupied and didn't realize.

Embarrassed, I quickly went to delete the picture and walk away. Until…

*click*

My head shot up as I heard the door open and that's when I saw the most perfect man ever.

~

/Akashic POV\

I sat in the car for awhile before I saw a limousine pull up. I sat upright when three women got out.

I noticed Naomi instantly from the images I saw of her recently, but what threw me off was the girl next to her.

"Luna?!" I felt like I was in a simulation, what are the odds that her friend was Luna!

When I focused back on the group I noticed one was missing. Even scarier, they were running towards me at full speed.

I was impressed by how fast she went in heels, I was nervous that she'd fall and hurt herself.

Naomi threw her a glance and just shook her head and smiled at the girl I found familiar.

Better yet, I knew her as well. We'd only met once very briefly but she was pretty popular, it was Luna's sister.

I stayed in the car for awhile because she came towards me and I was curious.

She just started taking pictures of the car and had excitement on her face while doing it.

Honestly I respected her professionalism. I could tell she appreciated it and respected its owner enough to not get that close.

She stopped for awhile and scrolled on her phone before freezing, that's when I decided to get out as Naomi went inside.

At the sudden sound she turned to face me and I saw recognition in her look.

"Husba-Akashic!" She stared at me and her eyes opened wide.

"You remember me? That's surprising." I didn't think she'd remember me as I didn't stand out much at the time, she only saw me once so it'd be natural if she didn't recognize me.

"No, but yes! You're Luna's friend, and Naomi's cousin!" She stammered a little.

"Oh, is the surprise spoiled already?" It'd be a little embarrassing if the person you were meant to surprise was expecting you already.

"Not at all. It's a little complicated but it's fine, Naomi doesn't know you're here."

Well, that's all that matters I guess.

"Nice to meet you again, my name is Akashic Torre." I stretched out my hand for a handshake and introduced myself again as I felt it would be nice since she was a friend of Naomi's.

"Same! I'm Lena Starr!" We talked for a little bit while I waited for a text from Aunt Karin.

"So you're friends with Naomi, huh? What a small world. How'd that you guys meet?" I was interested. I didn't know much about the twins, but I assumed they were born in Moon City.

"Ah…well, a few years ago something bad happened. Our family bounced around for a while before we settled down. While we were here we met Naomi at the library. She was searching up something on the computers and looked really frustrated, so Luna wanted to help her." Her expression dropped at the beginning of the sentence but lightened as she spoke of their encounter.

"Sorry for prying. I'm glad you three still get along so well." She kept her smile as we continued our conversation.

*Ding*

Checking my phone, I saw it was the go ahead text I was waiting for.

With that, Lena and I walked in together and she stepped inside the booth first.

~

/Naomi POV\

After Lena ran off towards a car Luna and I walked inside, giving our name to a waitress and finding my mom in a room that we reserved.

"Happy birthday!! Aw, I'm so proud of you!" She stood up and gave me a hug, crying a little as she kept repeating how proud she was and how much she loved me.

That started to make me tear up too as I thought about her and how grateful I was that she took care of me. Even after my father left, I never felt his absence.

I didn't want to cry already so I held it in and after a few seconds we sat down.

"Where's Lena?" Mom asked.

"She saw a nice car so of course she's going to run off to take pictures, she'll be here soon." While explaining I saw her on her phone texting someone.

I was curious but didn't say anything. Honestly, she's been so busy raising me I don't think she's ever had any male friends. I was rooting for her.

*knock knock*

A few minutes went by before there were light knocks on the door and Lena came in with a blush on her face.

I looked at her shocked as this makes twice she's blushed so hard, but before I could question it there was another knock on the door.

*Knock Knock*

Me and Luna were the only ones to look confused before my mom told the person to come in.

As the door opened it felt like time stopped as a grenade went off in my mind

Tall, long light blue hair, a black suit..my heartbeat sped up as I looked at the face, I knew exactly who it was.

What felt like millions of thoughts and emotions swirled in me. I wanted to be angry, that he broke his promise. That he left me. But once our eyes locked those feelings vanished.

I should calmly give him a hug, right? We're older now, I can't act like the same little girl anymore.

"I've really missed you, Naomi." That was it.

Any pretend defenses I had were shattered, and before he even said any more I stood up and shot into his arms.

"Haha, well hello to you too, Naomi." All my plans to act tough failed as I started crying after hearing his voice.

He had no luck trying to soothe me, eventually he placed his hand on my head like when we were kids and I cried even harder and embraced him tighter.

All the emotions I felt over the years burst out. Even ones I thought forgotten.

"Akashic!!"
