Centuries ago, the world was overrun with misfortune: famine, disease, and worst of all, the beasts.
These beasts came in different shapes and forms, but all had one mission—to destroy everything they came in contact with. They plagued the earth, causing mayhem everywhere they went, with Rai, a powerful flow of energy, powering them.
Some beasts, who had learned the Soul Technique from their masters, went on to possess humans with feeble willpower, using their bodies as vessels for combat. Humans had untapped Rai, granting their possessors intelligence and problem-solving skills.
The possessed humans were called Human-Dwellers.
They fought among themselves to determine who would rule the world, with strength and brains as pillars of power.
The victor, Jentaro, who was possessed by the Human-Dweller Sho, became known as the Crimson Lord, and soon, he had the whole world at his fingertips.
His reign was fierce. He consumed humans to obtain their Rai and enslaved many beasts.
He ruled the world for ten years until a band of heroes rose to challenge him. After months of battle, they finally defeated him.
Their team was led by Tako, the Cutlery King, who had learned to tap into his Rai. Using his talents as a baker, he prepared Rai-infused pastries called Raistars, which he fed to his companions, awakening their Rai abilities.
This band of heroes became known as the Exorcists, named for their ability to drive beasts out of possessed humans.
After Jentaro's defeat, the Exorcists continued fighting the beasts. But their numbers dwindled until the few remaining were forced into hiding.
Two years later, Tako and his team disappeared.
People speculated endlessly—some believed they had died, others thought they had retired, and some believed they had simply lost their abilities.
Eventually, the world returned to normal. The memories of the war faded, becoming nothing more than stories told by the elderly.
But what the world did not know was that beasts still roamed the land.
Waiting.
For the right moment to strike again.
