Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Ruined Streets

Relics of the Fallen World – Chapter 1: The Ruined Streets

Elias Veyron opened his eyes to the gray sky and the ruins of Blackhaven. The city was silent, but not empty. Every shattered building, every broken street, whispered danger. He had walked these streets for years, yet each step felt like the first—because survival demanded vigilance, and the city did not forgive mistakes.

He moved cautiously, boots crunching over shattered glass and twisted metal. His eyes scanned the shadows, noting every shift in the wind, every distant sound. A faint pulse of energy shimmered around his hands. It was nothing extraordinary—just a small edge, a reminder that he had learned to survive in a world that had long forgotten mercy.

Ahead, a faint noise drew his attention: scavengers, searching through a collapsed storefront. Elias crouched behind a broken wall, letting them argue among themselves. Patience was a weapon as sharp as any blade. He watched, silent and still, waiting.

When the scavengers moved on, Elias stepped toward the debris they had left behind. Broken cans, a battered flashlight… and a small metallic shard, humming faintly with blue-purple light. He pocketed it carefully, feeling the quiet resonance of the relic against his palm. A fragment of something older, something left behind by a world that had fallen.

The streets were empty again. Elias moved onward, deliberate and cautious, every glance measuring the ruins for hidden threats. The hum of energy lingered faintly in the cracks of the city, a subtle reminder that this world, though dead to most, still held secrets.

And he would survive among them, Always.
