At first, when Wena brought up the idea of raiding a town in Alabasta, Sami thought the man might have some grand scheme or hidden conspiracy.
So he patiently listened for a while.
But the more he listened, the stranger it sounded.
This so-called Short-Legged Wena turned out to be nothing more than a typical short-sighted pirate with a narrow mindset.
His strength wasn't particularly impressive, and his entire plan revolved around robbing a town and then spending the loot partying on the next island.
Sami's initial curiosity quickly faded.
An obvious look of boredom appeared on his face.
"Hey, hey," Sami said lazily, digging in his ear and interrupting Wena's endless rambling about future riches.
"Captain Wena, can you stop talking to yourself for a moment?"
"When did I ever say I'd join you in slaughtering and looting towns in Alabasta?"
The enthusiastic smile on Wena's face instantly froze.
His expression darkened visibly, and his voice turned cold.
"…So you're saying you won't cooperate with me?"
Instead of answering, Sami tilted his head and looked at the dog-skull pirate flag flying on Wena's ship's main mast.
His tone carried a playful mockery.
"By the way… that flag of yours—was it intentional?"
"You designed it to look like that?"
"Aren't you afraid some marine hero who really likes eating rice crackers might misunderstand one day and punch your broken ship straight to the bottom of the sea?"
"Huh? What nonsense are you talking about?!"
Wena clearly didn't understand Sami's joke about Garp, but Sami's dismissive attitude completely enraged him.
"So you refuse a toast only to drink the penalty!"
"If I don't beat the hell out of you, you won't understand the power of a 73 million Berry pirate!"
He suddenly stepped back and roared toward his ships.
"Men! Prepare for boarding combat!"
"Animal Transformation!"
With a furious shout, Wena's body underwent a bizarre change.
His limbs and torso stretched like rubber bands.
His already short legs shrank even further, almost disappearing into his body, while his arms shortened as well.
In an instant—
He turned into a three-meter-long dachshund, still wearing clothes.
Although his body had grown larger and his muscles slightly expanded, the ridiculous proportions made him look absurd.
"Pff—HAHAHAHA!"
Sami couldn't hold back his laughter.
"That's hilarious! Is that fruit meant for comedy or something?!"
Behind him, Aldo and the other officers struggled to suppress their laughter, their shoulders shaking.
Wena's face turned black as a pot.
Clearly, this wasn't the first time he had been mocked like this.
Humiliation and rage completely destroyed his rationality.
"Enough nonsense!"
"Die, Sami!"
Despite his comical shape, his long body moved with surprising flexibility.
Using the strength of his core muscles like a whip, he launched forward from the bow with a sudden whoosh.
His speed was astonishing.
The claw at the front of his elongated body tore through the air as it aimed straight for Sami's face.
"Dachshund Missile!"
"Oh? Not bad. Those little legs move pretty fast."
A hint of surprise flashed through Sami's eyes.
But instead of retreating, he stepped forward.
With a quick push of his foot, his body slid sideways at the last moment, narrowly avoiding the claw strike.
At the same time—
His right fist shot forward like a cannonball, smashing directly into the middle of Wena's long body.
Bang!
A dull impact sounded.
However, Wena's dachshund form had incredible flexibility.
At the moment of impact, the struck section of his body twisted like a wave, dispersing most of the force.
"Hahaha! Useless!" Wena laughed triumphantly.
"I'm a Dog-Dog Fruit, Dachshund Model user!"
"In this form, my body's strength and elasticity are greatly enhanced!"
"Your punches are nothing more than a scratch!"
"Is that so?"
Sami's expression turned cold.
His steps shifted again as he instantly closed the distance.
A palm covered with faint purple poison struck Wena's chest once more.
"Poison Fang — Sting."
A powerful numbness spread from Wena's chest like electricity, rushing through his entire body.
The smug grin on Wena's face froze instantly.
"What the—?! Poison?!"
Seizing the moment his body stiffened, Sami grabbed Wena's shortened arm with his left hand like an iron clamp.
Then the terrifying strength of his core and arms exploded.
"Get over here!"
With a shout, Sami swung Wena's three-meter-long dachshund body through half a huge arc in the air—
Then slammed him brutally onto the Swordfish's deck.
BOOM!!!
"AAARGH—!!!"
A loud crash echoed along with a miserable scream.
Wena's vision spun wildly as he saw stars.
The paralysis poison in his body and the violent impact against the deck caused intense internal injuries.
He could no longer maintain his Devil Fruit form.
His elongated body rapidly shrank back into human shape.
Meanwhile, pirates from both Doggy Pirate ships rushed across the boarding planks, screaming and waving their weapons.
They crashed into the already-prepared Jellyfish Pirates.
The battle immediately reached a fever pitch.
However, in terms of average strength, the Jellyfish Pirates—who had survived a year of hellish training on Little Garden—were far superior.
Although the Doggy Pirates had greater numbers, the battle quickly became one-sided.
The Jellyfish Pirates charged through them like tigers among sheep.
Most enemies were knocked down within just two or three exchanges.
Wena struggled to stand up from the deck.
But the paralysis and internal injuries slowed his movements drastically.
He had barely lifted his head when he saw Sami standing over him.
Sami's eyes carried a trace of mockery.
His palm slowly rose again.
"W-wait… I sur—"
Sami didn't give him the chance to finish the word surrender.
His poison-covered palm struck the side of Wena's neck.
"Ugh…"
Wena's eyes rolled back.
His final consciousness was filled with regret and unwillingness.
Then he passed out completely.
Sami shook his hand lightly and looked down at the unconscious pirate.
"Ever since entering the Grand Line, we haven't made a proper score."
"Looks like today we finally stocked up."
He still remembered what the slave trader Gillian had told him:
Pirates with bounties over 50 million Berries could sell for a very good price.
For someone like Wena—weak and foolish—Sami had no interest in recruiting him.
Soon, with their captain defeated, the remaining Doggy Pirates were completely subdued.
Seeing their unconscious captain and the intimidating Jellyfish Pirates, the survivors quickly surrendered.
"Boss, this guy was way too weak," Aldo said, prodding Wena's body with his spiked club.
"How did someone like him even get such a high bounty?"
"Who knows?" Sami replied casually.
"Search the ships. Collect all the treasure and useful supplies."
"Captain," a crew member asked, "should we sink the two ships?"
Sami walked over to the captured pirate ships and looked at the terrified low-level pirates.
"As for these ships… forget it."
"Let them go."
While Sami inspected the ships, a crewman approached Aldo.
"Brother Aldo, what about this guy?"
"Just tie him up and throw him in the hold's prison."
The battle ended quickly.
When Sami returned to the Swordfish, Wena had already disappeared.
"Where's the short-legged dog?"
Aldo stepped forward.
"Boss, I already threw him into the hold's prison."
"Keep an eye on him. He's still a Devil Fruit user."
"Of course." Aldo made an "OK" gesture and shouted to the crew.
"You heard the captain—tie him up properly!"
