The first day at Ravewood university was louder than Lila Morgan expected.
Student crowded the campus gate, dragging suitcase, greeting old friends and nervously searching for their classrooms.
The morning sun shone brightly over the tall buildings, making the campus look welcoming and intimidating at the same time.
Lila paused just inside the gate, gripping the straps of the bag. This was it,her new beginning.,new school,new people and new life.
She took a deep breath and stepped forward,what she didn't know was that someone from her past was already there .watching the same campus. Living a completely different life.
Across the courtyard,near the student parking lot, Adrian Lane lean causally against his car while two girls stood around him.
One of the laughed loudly at something he said, another rested her hand on his arm. Adrian looks perfectly relaxed, as if the world naturally revovled around him.
"Adrian you promised you would come to the party tonight," one girl reminded him.
"I might,he replied " lazily.
"You say that every time". He smirked. "Maybe I like keeping people guessing." A tall boy approached them shaking his head in amusement .
Ethan Blake. Adrian's closest friend on campus." You're going to cause a scandal before the semester even starts." Ethan said.
Adrian shrugged. "Not my fault people like me." Ethan rolled his eyes." You have two girls around you right now". Adrian glanced at them briefly, "only two"? They laughed.
But then Adrian's gaze driffed across the courtyard _and suddenly stopped.
There, near the entrance gate, stood a girl struggling with her the wheel of her suitcase.
Her hair fell over her shoulders as she bent down to fix it. She looked familiar. Too familiar. Adrian straightened slightly, when the girl stood up again,their eyes met. And time seemed to pause. Lila Morgan froze. She recognized him instantly. Adrian Lane her high school crush. The boy she had admired quietly for years. Her heart skipped. What were the chances? She took a small forward,surprised and strangely happy. But Adrian expression changed. The moment of recognition disappeared from his face. His eyes turned distant,cold unfamiliar and then he looked away. As if he had never seen her before. Lila stopped walking. Confusion spread slowly through her chest. Maybe he hadn't recognized her. It had been three years after all.
Behind Adrian, Ethan noticed his sudden silence.
"What"? Ethan asked.
Adrian shoved his hands into his pockets.
"Nothing"
"Do you know that girl?"
Adrian watched Lila walked into the administration building. Then he answered calmly.
"No I don't". But deep down he knew exactly who she was.
