Chapter 2 - Chapter 2. Gold Plated Cage

A luxurious mansion with a terrifying black interior that emphasized that its owner was untouchable by any weapon. A cold-hearted devil who did not release his grip on Julian's arm.

The mansion was surrounded by a barbed wire fence, indicating that any intruder who dared to approach would end up dead.

As soon as Julian stepped into the mansion, he felt that this place was truly hell. Every room was filled with Gilas' masculine scent. There was no sound; the place was so quiet that Julian could hear his own irregular breathing.

"Where are you taking me?" asked Julian.

Gilas didn't say a word. He pulled Julian past the servants who were lined up with their heads bowed. Julian's blood left footprints on the marble floor he walked on.

There was a very high staircase that Julian had to climb. With his strength and condition, he wouldn't be able to climb more than ten steps.

"Beg me!" said Gilas. "You weakling! In your pitiful state, do you still think you can kill me even though I've permitted you?" he continued.

How did it feel to be free from bondage? Julian was sick of the way Gilas was toying with him. He had truly reached the point where he no longer wanted to live.

"Just think of it as me showing you some love this time, Julian."

Love? What Julian felt was pitiful compassion, not the love the man meant. Julian could only clench his fists tightly, which were encased in silver metal, the key to which was held only by Gilas.

There was nothing that wasn't luxurious about every corner of Gilas' BLACK mansion. The elevator that the man was currently using to take Julian was no less magnificent. The elevator continued to ascend until it reached the top floor, located in the tallest tower.

"Where are you actually taking me?" asked Julian. He pulled his arm away from Gilas's grip.

"To a place where you won't be afraid anymore, Julian," replied Gilas. He stared intently at the man. "Because I will be your only fear."

Before he could reply, the elevator doors opened to reveal what was in front of Julian's eyes. He froze, his body trembling. There was nothing behind the elevator door, but there was one thing in the room that put heavy pressure on Julian.

"Open!"

The door used a sophisticated voice sensor. It would only open and close according to Gilas' commands. No one but him could control it.

"Ughhh!" Julian groaned.

Gilas pushed Julian until he fell onto the king-size bed. Julian looked around. It was a spacious room with all the necessary facilities. A comfortable bed, a bathroom that was certainly no less spacious. However, Julian felt something frightening grow more and more. The windows that adorned the room were covered with gold iron.

"Why do you look confused, Julian?" Gilas straddled Julian's body. He pinned the man down, leaving him no room to move. "This is your room," he whispered.

"Are you crazy?" Julian shouted. His face grew paler. "After you slaughtered the Morentti family for your greed, now you're going to lock me up?" he shouted again.

Gilas removed his leather gloves. He caressed Julian's face, which was bruised on the right side. "That's right. The Morentti family, which was your world, is destroyed. That's why I prepared this room, Julian. This is my world for you—a hell."

Gilas removed the silver metal that bound Julian's hands.

"What are you..."

"Don't get too excited, Julian," Gilas interrupted.

Gilas moved away from Julian's body. He picked up his clothes, which he had placed on the bed next to Julian, who was still trembling.

"Clean yourself up. I'll be back in 30 minutes."

Gilas left Julian alone in the room he had prepared as a golden prison. Meanwhile, Julian tried to find a way to escape. Unfortunately, his exhausting search yielded no results.

"No! I can't be locked up here forever," Julian muttered.

There was no way out but to submit to Gilas. However, Julian's pride was too high to admit it. Gilas would be back in a few minutes. Julian grabbed the clothes Gilas had given him and quickly cleaned his wounded body before Gilas arrived.

Gilas came out of the bathroom. He really didn't want to wear those clothes because Gilas's distinctive scent was too strong.

"Damn it!" Julian cursed.

"Why are you still standing there?"

Julian turned his head. He didn't know when, but the man whose presence he really didn't want was already sitting on the sofa. He got up from where he was sitting. He began to walk towards Julian, who was frozen in place.

"I'm hungry," said Gilas. "But you welcome me with this appearance?"

"Your stomach has nothing to do with me," said Julian.

Julian moved away from Gilas. He immediately buttoned Gilas' shirt, which was quite large for his body. Even though he was walking with a limp, Julian did not show his weakness. He continued to treat Gilas as an opponent without fear that the man would kill him.

"Eat!" said Gilas.

There was already food laid out on the table. Julian could choose whatever he wanted to eat. However, in his current pitiful state, he couldn't even swallow a sip of water.

"I will not take no for an answer, Julian." Gilas pulled Julian, forcing the man to sit down.

Crash!

Obedience was just a dream and an empty fantasy. Julian pulled the cloth covering the table, scattering all the dishes.

"I refuse to eat at the same table as the murderer of my family!" Julian said firmly. "Free me, if you don't want to kill me, Gilas. I'm not an animal that you can cage in your golden cage!" he continued.

"Pick it up!" said Gilas with a very cold expression. "Just because I'm a little soft on you doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. You have to know your place, Julian!"

"You already got what you wanted—the destruction of the Morentti family. You don't need to keep me here as bait."

"Hahaha... Bait?" Gilas chuckled softly. He grabbed Julian's jaw impatiently. "You are my precious porcelain doll because to get you, I had to take many lives." Gilas gently slapped Julian's cheek repeatedly. "Pick up the food on the floor, then swallow it!" he continued.

"You're a real bastard!"

Gilas stepped on the scattered, broken plates. There was a plate near Gilas. He picked it up and poured the remaining contents over Julian's head.

"Gilas, you..."

"You pushed me to act cruelly. So, don't ever beg for my mercy because..." Gilas's gaze grew colder. "Because letting you live is my greatest mercy," he continued.

"I don't want to live, Gilas," said Julian.

"You want to die foolishly like your family?" sneered Gilas contemptuously.

Julian slammed the table. He stood up from his chair. He pressed Gilas' chest with his index finger.

"They didn't die foolishly, but you are the one who took their lives," Julian said, gritting his teeth.

"Listen, Julian!" Gilas suddenly responded to Julian's anger and hatred by kissing the man's forehead. "I killed them to save you."
