Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Starter Pack! An SSS-Level Dragon Egg

Qin Fan paid no attention to the mocking and jeering from his classmates.

He quietly returned to his seat and sat down.

His mind was entirely focused on the suddenly appearing system.

Having read countless web novels in his previous life, he knew exactly what this meant—his personal "cheat" had finally arrived.

After all, how could a transmigrator survive without a golden finger?

[Upon completing achievement missions, the system will grant the host corresponding and generous rewards.]

[Failing the mission will result in severe punishment for the host!]

[To facilitate granting appropriate rewards, please bind your class as soon as possible.]

[Would you like to bind the 'Dragon Tamer' class?]

Qin Fan didn't hesitate.

"Yes."

It had to be this class. There was no other option.

The good news: Dragon Tamer was a combat class.

The bad news: he didn't have a dragon. Not even one.

Moreover, the Dragon Tamer class had been almost extinct for many years.

Information about it was scarce, and skill books were even rarer.

It seemed the system sensed his concern.

As soon as Qin Fan confirmed, the notification chimed again.

Ding!

[Class binding successful!]

[Congratulations! You have activated the "Ultimate Beast Taming System"!]

[A starter pack corresponding to your class has been issued!]

[Congratulations! You have obtained a Dragon Egg!]

[Please check your personal warehouse for details!]

A Dragon Egg!?

His starter pack came with a Dragon Egg!?

The system really was a godsend.

Want something? Just ask, and it appears.

"Open the system warehouse."

No hesitation. Qin Fan thought to himself.

Buzz!

A bright azure panel materialized in front of him.

Qin Fan froze.

Damn! He was still in the classroom.

If anyone saw this panel, it would cause unnecessary trouble.

He glanced around nervously—but no one noticed the blue information panel.

Some classmates still looked at him with pity and disdain, thinking his choice of the Dragon Tamer class was laughable.

Phew.

So the system panel was private—only he could see it.

Qin Fan relaxed.

He turned his attention to the warehouse.

There, nestled quietly, was a crimson Dragon Egg.

Its surface was adorned with intricate golden patterns, clearly no ordinary object.

Activating his universal skill, "Eye of Appraisal," the egg's detailed information appeared in front of him.

[Dragon Egg (SSS): Can be tamed using 'Dragon Taming Technique'. Successful taming will yield a baby Flame Sacred Dragon as your dragon companion.]

Note: The baby Flame Sacred Dragon favors "Divine Fire Core" as a gift. Using it during taming will greatly increase success probability.

"Divine Fire Core?"

"That's an S-tier rare material! How could I possibly have one?"

Qin Fan's expression faltered slightly at the note.

"Well… let's just try taming it directly with the Dragon Taming Technique and see if it works."

Decision made, he packed his things and left the classroom, a smile on his face.

His classmates were baffled.

He just became a Dragon Tamer—a ridiculous class in their eyes—and he was still smiling?

Had he lost his mind?

Qin Fan finally returned to his so-called home:

The Anning City Orphanage.

As with all transmigrator protagonists, he had triggered the "isolated and helpless" trope.

But Qin Fan was a bit different.

According to the caretaker at the orphanage, Qin Fan had been abandoned.

His biological parents were alive, yet he had zero intention of finding them.

From the moment they left him behind, he had no connection to them anymore.

"Qin Fan-gege!!"

"Qin Fan-gege is back!"

As soon as he pushed open the orphanage door, a group of adorable kids ran up to him, grabbing at his pants and climbing onto him.

Within moments, Qin Fan was like a tree covered in monkeys.

He was already well acquainted with the children and had a strong bond with them.

"Qin Fan is back?"

Hearing the commotion, a woman in her forties or fifties emerged from the inner courtyard.

Her face was gentle and kind.

This was the orphanage's 'Ah Ma,' responsible for taking care of all the children, including Qin Fan.

She was also a chef, with a talent matching Qin Fan's—E+ level in "Culinary Mastery."

"Hmm, you're back."

Qin Fan smiled.

"So, what class did you switch to? Dragon Tamer? Or Chef?"

Ah Ma asked with a chuckle. She knew the importance of class changes but never pressured the children.

Many kids leaving the orphanage weren't combat classes but life-based classes.

"It's not Chef. It's a secret for now. I'll tell you in a few days."

Qin Fan deliberately withheld the information, not wanting her to overthink.

"There's nothing to hide. Come in, I've already prepared dinner."

Ah Ma chided him playfully.

After dinner, Qin Fan returned to his small, shabby room and checked his information panel.

[Name: Qin Fan][Age: 18][Level: 10][Class: Dragon Tamer][Talent: Beast Affinity (SSS)][Attributes: Strength 15; Intelligence 15; Constitution 15; Agility 15][Class Skill: Dragon Taming Technique (S)]

[Dragon Taming Technique (S): Active skill. Use on dragon eggs or dragons. Has a chance to tame the target and make it your dragon companion.]

Normally, a new class change would start everyone with 10 points in all attributes.

But Qin Fan's SSS-tier talent, Beast Affinity, boosted all of his attributes by 5 points.

Not a huge increase.

Yet Qin Fan knew the real power of Beast Affinity wasn't in the numbers—it made it far easier to gain the favor of magical beasts, spirit beasts, and even divine beasts.

And it greatly amplified all Beast Tamer skills.

As a hidden-class Dragon Tamer, he benefited from this boost as well.

Currently, he hadn't learned other Dragon Tamer skills, so he couldn't test the full power of Beast Affinity yet.

"But I can try taming the Dragon Egg with Dragon Taming Technique! Let's see if it works."

Qin Fan immediately retrieved the SSS-level Dragon Egg from the system warehouse.
