Chapter 2 - chapter 2: (Flames of resolve)

The sun had climbed higher, burning away the morning mist, but Arin felt a storm inside him. The amulet's pulse had not faded—it had grown stronger, almost demanding he understand its power.

Lyra led him to a secluded glade outside the village, where the morning light danced across the dew-covered grass. "You need to learn control," she said softly, her hands brushing against his as she handed him a small crystal. "This will help focus your energy."

Arin clenched the crystal. Every fiber of his being was tense. He remembered Kael's smirk, the cold edge in his voice, and the danger he posed. He knew training today wasn't optional—it was survival.

"Start by feeling the flow," Lyra instructed. "Don't force it. Let it respond to you."

Arin closed his eyes. The amulet glowed faintly at his chest. Slowly, he felt warmth spread from the crystal to his hands, and a spark of energy coursed through him. It wasn't just power—it was purpose.

Suddenly, the air shifted. A shadow darted across the clearing—Kael again, faster than before. He didn't speak. He just attacked.

Arin barely had time to react. Instinct guided him as a thin wave of energy erupted from his hands, deflecting Kael's strike. Sparks flew, and the sound of colliding magic rang through the glade.

Lyra shouted, "Remember what you're protecting!"

Arin's focus sharpened. He could see Kael's movements, anticipate them, and counter. The fight was intense but brief—Kael disappeared into the forest before Arin could strike, leaving only a whisper:

"You're stronger than I thought… but this is only the beginning."

Breathing heavily, Arin turned to Lyra. Her hand found his again, steadying him. "You did well," she said, smiling. "You're learning not just to fight, but to fight for something worth protecting."

Arin felt a warmth in his chest—not just from the amulet, but from hope. He wasn't just discovering power—he was discovering himself. And whatever Kael planned next, he would face it with courage, heart, and the fire burning within him.
