Chapter 41 Save the Children
Before anyone could react...
Yara delivers an elbow strike!
He swiftly elbowed the guard beside the pillar and then swiftly severed the chains with his bronze sword.
Perseus managed to escape from his bonds and hid in panic behind Yara.
Yara, however, completely changed from her previous expression, her eyes now blazing with fury—
"King of Argos!"
"What did you do to Dickies?!"
Before Yara could speak again...
The guard's sword was now pressed against Sarah's neck...
And at the same time.
Pan shouted.
He tried to rush forward to rescue Yara's wife, and like an iron tower, he crashed into the guards.
However, there were more than just him and Old Tyr, two golden warriors, inside this temple.
Several golden warriors from the royal guards jumped out from the side, and together they suppressed Pan's charge.
Old Tyr, meanwhile, drew his magical weapon from the ancient kingdom, a black longsword unsheathed, and like a ghost, charged towards King Argos and the high priest...
King Argos clearly did not anticipate the betrayal of Pan and Old Tyre.
He took two steps back in a panic, and shouted:
"You...you actually betrayed me!!"
"You were once golden warriors who swore an oath to the gods, pledging your allegiance to me..."
Those who betray their faith will be punished by the gods for eternity!
Old Tyr snorted coldly and said in a deep voice:
"I am now a believer in God."
After saying that.
The sword light slashed fiercely at the High Priest.
In the blink of an eye.
Just as Old Tyr's longsword was about to sever the High Priest's head.
A dazzling light suddenly burst forth from the high priest's scepter.
Old Tyr felt as if he had struck a sheet of iron; his longsword flew backward, and his entire arm was numb from the powerful recoil. He even noticed blood seeping from the skin of his arm...
Meanwhile, the high priest's white beard and hair moved on their own without any wind.
The scepter in his hand, inlaid with magic crystals, radiated a dazzling light.
With a gentle wave, the magic crystal on his scepter emitted a beam of light, striking Pan, who was entangled in battle with several golden warriors...
Pan felt as if he had been struck by a tremendous force, and his internal organs seemed to tremble.
He was sent flying, armor and all.
When he fell to the ground, his armor was completely shattered...
King Argos glanced at the high priest beside him in shock.
The high priest's eyes flashed with a pale blue light.
He faced Ara beneath the statue of Zeus.
Shout:
"Hera has granted me divine power!"
The magic crystal on the scepter shone brightly.
The high priest suddenly waved his hand towards Yara—
A beam of light, like starlight, radiating terrifying pressure, shot fiercely towards Yara.
Upon seeing this, Yara was about to harm herself.
But suddenly a bolt of lightning struck from the sky.
It pierced through the entire temple, struck the radiance, and annihilated it.
All that remained was a charred, burnt-out ground...
"It's Zeus!!"
King Argos roared.
He suddenly reached out.
He removed half of the gold mask from his face.
The gruesome wound from being struck by lightning years ago still aches faintly!
He was tearing at his throat:
"He really is Zeus's messenger!!"
The high priest seemed to have exhausted his energy at this moment, and the magic crystal on his scepter turned into dust and dissipated.
He looked at the lightning that had pierced the temple, took two steps back, and shouted:
"Hera, Queen of the Gods... Hera of the Golden Throne... Help me!"
When he shouted those words.
The weather in the sky changed; the layers of dark clouds seemed to be fighting against something... Lightning and thunder intertwined in the sky, and the night light flickered...
"Yara..."
"Kill him!"
"Kill the child behind you..."
"otherwise."
"I'll kill your wife!!"
While the King and Queen were entangled that day.
King Argos suddenly drew a bronze sword and, under the cover of his guards, seized Yara's wife from behind, pressing the sword firmly against her neck, drawing a slight line of blood...
"Yara...Yara...."
The wife cried and called out Yara's name.
He saw his wife being arrested.
Yara was very anxious.
Immediately, he picked up the longsword and slashed his own arm—
He deftly stirred the flesh within the wound with his fingers, then ripped off a piece of skin with a sharp tear...
The intense pain caused the veins on his forehead to bulge.
And when that pain reaches the depths of the soul—
[Resurrection of Misery]!
The sacred seal engraved on the soul—ᚾ—began to emit a golden light.
At that moment, the pain transformed into an ever-expanding force!
Yara took a step forward.
His movements were as swift as a war chariot at full speed.
He smashed a punch that sent the golden warriors who were blocking his way flying.
The high priest had already taken out a new magic crystal and embedded it into the scepter.
A burst of starlight shot out, heading towards Yara who was rapidly approaching.
Yara was struck by the light.
He was instantly sent flying backwards...
Pain...excruciating pain!
But for Yara...
Pain is power!
He stomped his feet hard on the ground.
The marble beneath their feet shattered from the terrifying force.
Then, he shot out like an arrow released from a bow.
This speed was beyond the High Priest's ability to see with his naked eye. He waved his scepter wildly, and the light shot out, but none of it was accurate. Even what grazed Yara only became the source of his power.
However, just as Yara's fist was about to strike the high priest and shatter him...
King Argos's voice suddenly rang out—
"Don't touch Yara!"
"If you move even slightly, your wife will suffer another injury!!"
King Argos roared like a madman.
At the same time, the bronze sword sliced across Yara's wife's shoulder blade, and blood spurted out, staining her fair face.
"No!"
Yara exclaimed in surprise, freezing in place.
The fist stopped right in front of the High Priest's face.
The airflow from the fist caused the high priest's beard and hair to flutter wildly.
The high priest was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground.
"Do as I say!!"
"hurry up!"
King Argos was nearly insane, his bronze sword trembling as he pressed it against Yara's wife's neck.
It seemed like he was about to slit his wife's throat at any moment...
The wife was crying; she was utterly terrified, but she said the following:
"Leave me alone... Yara..."
"You'd better run away..."
Yara, however, lowered his head and roared in rebuttal:
"Idiot, how can I abandon you?!"
"You are carrying my child!"
Even if I die here...
"You can't get hurt either!"
Upon seeing this, the King of Argos roared:
You won't die!
"Your wife won't die either..."
"Just kill that bastard!"
"Everyone can live!!"
"You have all your honors, wealth, land, and everything else..."
My promise remains unchanged!
Behind him, little Perseus's small body was curled up in the corner.
He watched all this in horror, tears streaming down his face...
"Do as I say!"
"otherwise!"
King Argos slashed his wife's arm with his sword again.
The wife let out a scream.
Blood was gushing from that pale arm...
"No!"
Yara was heartbroken.
Standing there, trembling... his heart was in turmoil, torn between good and evil... If he could kill Perseus... then he could have everything...
But... what about Dicttis?
But if, out of friendship, one doesn't want to hurt Perseus...
Then...who will save Yara's children?
This is a desperate, compelling dilemma... Morality and justice, in the face of humanity and evil... appear so insignificant for the first time...
Either become a righteous person who is guilty.
Or, become a righteous sinner.
And just then...
A group of guards arrived at the temple gate with a ragged, dirty, and disheveled prisoner.
The prisoner froze the moment he saw the scene inside the temple...
He didn't know where the strength came from, but in an instant he broke free from the guards escorting him, and then quickly ran to the innermost part of the temple, to the side of the weak child who was curled up and crying...
His tears welled up instantly.
"Perseus...Perseus..."
For a moment, he couldn't say anything, he just held the child tightly and wouldn't let go for a long time.
Yara was stunned once again.
How could he not recognize the person before him?
It was Dicttis, Perseus' father... the fourth warrior he personally invited...
Dick's mental state seemed to improve instantly after seeing young Perseus...
When he turned his head, he saw Yara...
Upon seeing the Messiah, tears flowed again.
Dick knelt down before Yara...
His eyes flashed with a complex expression.
In a tone that was almost pleading, almost like praying to God.
He knelt down and begged Yara:
"Yara."
"Yara Messiah".
"My brother, my lord..."
"I need one thing from you, just one thing..."
You have to promise me...you have to promise me...
Thunder rumbled from the dome above...
Every now and then, flashes of lightning would briefly illuminate everything inside the temple.
Yara gazed into his sincere eyes and nodded silently.
Dicttis knelt and looked up at Yara.
He gave a desperate smile.
He said:
"Messiah."
"Let's just say..."
"Save those children..."
"Destroy this city."
...
