Chapter 1 - THE MYSTERY OF THE OLD STONE

Far from the noisy city, in a quiet corner, there was a big mansion. It had tall white walls, a strong iron gate, and a beautiful veranda. Everyone who passed by stopped to look. Houses like this were rare.

The mansion belonged to a rich businessman named Asif Babu. He had land, shops, and warehouses. He was very wealthy. But he was careful with money. He never spent unnecessarily. Some people called him stingy. But he believed wasting money was foolish.

Behind the house was his favorite place—a big garden. It was full of colorful flowers. Roses, night jasmine, marigolds, and lilies grew there. The air was always sweet with their smell. Mango, guava, and pomegranate trees stood in neat rows. The soft green grass looked like a carpet. In the morning, birds sang, and in the evening, butterflies flew around.

Every evening, Asif Babu walked slowly in the garden. He carried a stick and looked carefully around. He never missed a dry leaf on the ground. He wanted the garden to be perfect.

But there was one strange thing.

On the east side of the garden lay a big stone. It was dark gray, rough, and very heavy. Grass did not grow around it. It looked like it had been there for many years.

No one knew how long the stone had been there. Not even Asif Babu. An old worker once said, "Babu, this stone was here when your grandfather lived." But no one could prove it.

One evening, the sun was setting, and the sky was red. Asif Babu was walking in the garden. A light breeze moved the leaves. Suddenly, he saw the stone.

He stopped.

It was as if he was seeing the stone for the first time. He looked around quietly for a moment.

Then he said to himself,

"This space is wasted. If I plant a nice tree here, the garden will look even better."

He thought, if he planted an expensive tree here, the garden would look very beautiful.

He did not wait.

He called loudly, "Rahim! Hey Rahim!"

Rahim, his loyal worker, ran and stood in front of him.

"Yes, Babu?"

Asif Babu pointed at the stone.

"This stone must be moved. It takes up too much space."

Rahim looked at the stone and said, "Babu, it is very heavy. I cannot move it alone."

"I know," said Asif Babu.

"Bring two or three people. No more than that."

Rahim nodded. He knew more people would cost more money. Asif Babu did not like extra spending.

"Do it with as little cost as possible," Asif Babu added.

"Yes, Babu," Rahim replied. He went to get workers.

Evening came. The sky grew dark. Birds went to their nests. Everything became quiet.

The stone lay there silently, just as before.

But that day, it seemed different.

It felt like a secret was hidden under it.

Tomorrow, when the stone was moved, it might not just be a stone that comes out—it could be something that changes Asif Babu's life forever.
