Maya's POV
Friday morning arrived with crystal clear skies, as though the heavens themselves were welcoming my family to the Sterling grounds. From my bedroom window, I tracked their car winding up the hillside path, anxiety and anticipation battling in my chest. After the whirlwind of recent days, having my loved ones here felt like finding solid ground.
Sebastian positioned himself next to me at the front door, polished and composed as always, though the way he kept fidgeting with his cufflinks gave away his unease.
"Take a breath," I murmured. "They're harmless."
"Your father might disagree after our last encounter..."
