The investor's voice droned on about shipping regulations and export fees, but my attention kept drifting across the crowded reception hall. Barnaby, the lead investor, gestured with his whisky glass as he explained potential customs complications in the Zenoran market. Under different circumstances, I would have been completely focused on every detail. Sterling's expansion into that region was crucial to my long-term strategy.
Instead, I found myself scanning the room for a glimpse of burgundy silk.
"What are your thoughts on utilizing secondary ports for distribution, Mr. Sterling?" Barnaby's question snapped me back to reality.
I straightened my shoulders and offered what I hoped was a confident smile.
"That's definitely worth exploring. We can discuss the specifics during tomorrow's formal presentation."
