Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

There was a disturbance in the town of Emberdale in a cold morning. A construction worker was found dead on the ground and the morning walkers who just had to see the horrifying incident, ruining their entire day that laid before them.

The man seemed to have slipped from a great height but the police still had a doubt. Seriously, who would be working alone in the dark at a construction site even though they are a worker? Yet their seemed no possible explanation. The body seemed fine, with no hints of attack. The people gathered around in curiosity, including Wren Winters.

Wren, the sister of detective Orion Winters stood in surprise and excitement. She observed the people asking questions, the police holding them back, a young guy clicking pictures, a police detective being brought in and a thought in her brain that kept her from staying there.

This is what Orion has been waiting for all his life! He will finally get a case to engage himself!

However... I can do it too. I mean, I can try being the detective this time. He must still be sleeping leisurely in his bed, wrapped around in a warm blanket. Also, early bird catches the worm, doesn't it?

She was interrupted by a officer pushing the crowd back. She finally made herself leave and ran back to the house in a hurry.

It was a two storey house, the front was a small bookstore in which she worked with the landlady. The back of the store was connected with the rooms of landlady. Upstairs were room for the two siblings. It included a small kitchen, two bedrooms, one washroom and one hall. The hall was where Orion met his clients that were supposed to enter through the varenda that was led by backstairs.

Wren entered through the back door and slammed it hardly. It made the poor landlady who still had a morning dizziness jump.

"Back so early?" Mrs Honey asked in surprise.

"Yea well", Wren panted, " A man died. I need to tell Orion."

"Died? But how?" She stammered in shock. "It can't be possible."

"Yea he went to work alone at dark." Wren hurriedly replied and was about to rush upstairs when she was stopped.

"What's the hurry? Explain me nicely, Wren dear."

"Well... A construction worker was found dead. The police are investigating. It's been ages since something like this has happened so everyone is shaken." The landlady nodded in agreement.

"Indeed. But it should be an accident right?"

"Exactly why I am in a hurry to go to Orion. Uhh then I'll go!" She turned around and ran upstairs while shouting back, "Good morning to you!"

She was on the second floor now. She ran towards Orion's bedroom and slammed open the door and was surprised to see her brother awake.

"What's your obsession with slamming doors?!" He snapped.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" She snapped back. Then she cleared her throat.

"I have a good news for you. It seems like somebody had to die this fine morning."

"SOMEBODY DIED?" He stood up in shock.

Wren nodded proudly. "I didn't waste a moment to tell you that so you better not waste any time checking it out. The body is in the North side of the town. That ongoing construction site that is somewhat near to the police station."

Orion wore his coat that had been on his chair for 1 week now.

"Is that coat even clean?" Wren asked with a frown.

"Well, it isn't dirty." Orion shrugged and got ready to leave. "You coming?"

"No thanks. I haven't had any breakfast." Wren answered politely and walked away.
