Chapter 3 - Ch.1.5: Thoughts are Twisted

"So a normal girl, doing something nice for someone"? Dr. Polanski asked writing something down on a piece of paper. It was back in the present day. "At first I thought nothing of it too". Gary said. His thoughts mangled. "It's weird how you can look at someone, think they are so perfect you know". Gary continued. "Then you figure out they're completely psycho". Dr. Polanski grew more curious for explaination. "Erica.....she wasn't right in the head, something I don't know triggered a lust". Gary said. "A lust for what"? Dr. Polanski asked. "Blood, it's like it turned her on I was terrified, disgusted I tried to be normal about the things she'd say to me or do, I couldn't do it, she needed help and didn't see that she was wrong". Gary said. "Say to you or do, like what?". Dr. Polanski interrogated Gary. Gary told Dr. Polanski to open the file lying on the table, inside there were pictures of mutilated bodies, each with different types of butchery. The sight of the photos made Dr. Polanski feel ill. "You're saying she did this, all of it"? Dr. Polanski continued looking through each photo. "Yes, most of it recent I know this because I've had to help her dispose of the bodies". Gary confessed. He pointed to one photo of a male victim. "She told me he was...fun". Gary said disgusted "Why not turn her in"? Dr. Polanski asked. "Are you kidding me, she was psycho she probably would've killed me too". Gary scoffed. "Well Gary our time is up unfortunately for the day, we have to pick this up in the morning". Dr. Polanski said. "I'll tell this story because it's the truth I want to get out of here, I didn't do anything and after I say it all I hope I'll be released". Gary responded. "I believe you're telling the truth Gary, then again I'll know more once we talk tomorrow, try to have a pleasant night Gary". Dr. Polanski said exiting the room as orderlies came to take Gary back. "You too Doc" Gary responded as he too exited the room and was placed back in a padded cell.

That night, Gary laid awake unsure of what the future would hold for him, he could still hear Erica's sinister laughs in the darkness of his mind. He began to question himself. "Did it really happen"? "Or Was I really the crazy one"? "No there's no way I'd ever do that to anyone, but how could someone do something that vile to anyone". He thought, all of his thoughts clouded his mind, eventually the strain of staying away was too great and he fell into a deep slumber that he hoped was for eternity.

Gary awoke at three the next morning, the world was still so dark, the cell felt damp and he could feel the heavy beads of sweat cling to his body from the straightjacket. He looked up to see a hallucination of some kind of a young woman with brown hair. She looks at him only once. "Hey baby let's have some fun". She says and a demonic smile appears on her face. "AHHHH"! Gary yells and the orderlies rush into the room as quick as a flash. "Calm down, what happened". One of them asked. "Im fine, just a bad dream" Gary responds his breathing finally still. One of them reaches behind Gary. "You must be hot in there, Im going to undo this jacket, promise you won't do anything stupid like attacking me". He said to Gary. "I promise". Gary responds. The orderly releases the straight jacket binds and Gary breathes in the cool air, reaching his arms up to stretch them. "Get some sleep, you have a long day tomorrow". One of them said, they both walk to the door of Gary's cell one of then turns around. "You've been here for a little while now, but I don't think you did what they said". He said and the two exited the room. Gary stretched his whole body cracking his knuckles and waving his arms around. He hasn't felt a freedom like this in months. He decided to do pushups to pass the time until he eventually fell asleep two hours later.

By morning at seven o'clock Dr. Polanski made her rounds. Finally walking into the same room where a day before she spoke to Gary Grady around nine o'clock. She entered. "Doc I see no restraints today". Gary said pointing to himself as the orderlies brought him out, seeing that he is no longer in the straightjacket. "Well I don't believe you'll do anything stupid to hurt yourself or me, so let's get on with this story". Dr. Polanski said. "Alright" and as Gary sat down he started to talk, the memories became as clear as day. Dr. Polanski is ready with the same paper and pen she had the day before.

"After everything that occurred that day, I never expected to go home to find my dad had bought me a new car...
