I raised my hands, slow. Agents closed in, faces masked, guns drawn. The AI whispered: "Akin, access security override."
My gloves lit up. I flicked a digital switch. The agents' comms died. They froze, confused.
I slipped into the shadows, tech-wear gloves hacking cameras offline. "Thanks, mysterious AI," I muttered.
The whisper returned: "You're deeper in now, Akin. Follow the money."
My mind spun. Omegacorp's servers were the jackpot. I knew their security – inside and out.
I texted the mystery number: "What's going on?"
Reply: "Meet me at Marina Point. Alone."
Marina Point was crawling with fishers and tourists. I spotted her – short hair, red scarf, sipping palm wine. She saw me, nodded.
"Zara," she said. "We need to move. Omegacorp's hunting you."
Zara handed me a chip. "This decrypts Omegacorp's top-secret project: Phoenix."
Phoenix? The word sparked something dark. "What's it do?" I asked.
Zara's eyes darted. "It's a rebirth… for Lagos. Or its end."
Suddenly, the sky lit up. A chopper swooped low. "They found us!" Zara shouted.
