Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : what hidden inside

Let me tell you something honestly.

Sometimes the world doesn't defeat a person.

They slowly start losing to themselves.

That's what was happening to him.

His name was Aariv.

But no one in school really used his name.

Some called him "silent mode."

Some called him "low battery."

Some didn't bother with names at all.

And the worst part?

He could never prove them wrong.

It was lunch break.

The ground was loud as usual. Cricket balls hitting bats. Shouting. Laughter. Noise everywhere.

Aariv was sitting slightly away from the crowd with his lunchbox. He didn't like sitting in groups. Actually, it wasn't about liking or not liking. It was easier this way.

He had just torn a piece of roti when someone hit his shoulder from behind.

The food fell to the ground.

Laughter.

The same laughter. Every day.

"Bro, do you even eat scared?" someone said.

Aariv just looked down. He bent to pick the food up.

"Leave it. It's dirty now," another voice added.

Then someone kicked his lunchbox slightly.

It was normal.

It always was.

But inside him, nothing felt normal.

His heart was beating too fast. His fingers were slightly shaking. He wanted to say something. He really did.

But whenever the moment came…

His mind went blank.

Like someone switched him off from the inside.

At home he lied.

"Everything's fine."

His mother didn't ask much. His father usually came home late. The house felt normal.

But that night…

He couldn't sleep.

He kept staring at the ceiling and thinking one thing:

"Why am I like this?"

And that night, for the first time, he felt something strange.

Like the air in his room had become heavier.

Like someone was watching.

He turned around.

Nothing was there.

And yet…

Something was.

It was hard to explain.

The next day, something different happened.

The boys cornered him again like always. One of them grabbed his collar.

"One day we'll fix you," he said jokingly.

And in that exact moment…

Aariv felt time slow down.

Actually slow down.

The sound of wind… slower.

Their laughter… stretched.

His heartbeat… loud and clear.

And he saw something.

Around the hand that was holding his collar… there was a faint bluish glow.

Soft. Almost transparent.

For one second.

Then everything snapped back.

He was pushed.

He fell.

They laughed and walked away.

But Aariv stayed on the ground thinking only one thing—

"What did I just see?"

He looked at his own hands.

Normal.

Everything normal.

"Maybe I'm losing my mind," he whispered.

After school that day, he didn't go straight home.

He didn't even decide consciously. His feet just turned toward an older part of town — a place most people avoided.

There was an old building there.

No clear signboard. No proper name visible.

Just a half-open door.

Cold air came from inside.

He stopped.

His heart said don't go.

His feet said go.

He stepped in.

It was dim inside. Dust floating in thin lines of light. A large empty hall.

And there…

A man was standing.

Still. Calm.

Like he already knew someone was coming.

"You're late," the man said without turning around.

Aariv froze.

"I… I was just—"

"You saw it too, didn't you?"

Aariv's throat went dry.

"S-saw what?"

The man slowly turned.

His face wasn't fully visible. The light was behind him.

"Time slowing down. Colors shifting. Energy around people's hands."

Aariv's breath stopped for a second.

"How do you know that?"

The man watched him quietly.

"Because it happened to me once too."

Silence.

Aariv felt his legs weaken slightly.

"I'm not going crazy, am I?" he asked softly.

The man answered plainly.

"No. But if you don't learn control, people might think you are."

Aariv's thoughts were spinning.

"What is this?"

The man didn't answer directly.

"It's not fighting. It's not power either. It's a burden. And it wakes up when someone has been pushed down too much."

Aariv clenched his fists.

"I don't want to be special. I just want to be normal."

Something shifted in the man's eyes.

"Normal people don't see time slow down."

That line hit deeper than anything else.

Suddenly, there was a sound outside.

The soft screech of tires.

The man's expression changed instantly.

"You need to leave. Now."

"But—"

"Tomorrow. 4 AM. If you have the courage, come."

"Who are you?" Aariv asked.

The man didn't answer that.

He simply said,

"What's inside you… very few people in this world understand it. And the ones who do… they look for it."

Aariv's heartbeat quickened.

"Who looks for it?"

The man glanced toward the door.

Through the narrow gap, headlights from a black car were cutting into the darkness.

"Them."

Aariv turned.

There was a black car outside.

Engine running.

Headlights pointed directly at the building.

"Are you scared of them?" Aariv asked quietly.

The man replied calmly,

"I'm not scared of them. I just don't want them to see you."

"Why—"

"Go."

This time there was urgency in his voice.

Aariv stepped back slowly.

Part of him wanted to stay.

But instinct told him to move.

He stepped outside.

The car window rolled down slowly.

Not enough to see clearly.

But enough to know—

They were looking at him.

Not casually.

Carefully.

And in that moment, Aariv saw it again.

That faint blue glow.

This time around his own hands.

Not one second.

Two.

Then gone.

The car began to move forward slowly.

And for the first time, Aariv understood something.

This was no longer just about school bullies.

Something inside him had awakened.

And someone else…

Had noticed.
