Chapter 1 - My friend always stays by my side.

Rahul and Suman's friendship began in childhood. On the very first day of school, Rahul was nervous and quiet. He didn't know anyone. A shy boy came and sat beside him — that was Suman.

During lunch break, Suman looked at Rahul's lunchbox and said with a smile,

"Your mother cooks really well."

That simple sentence became the beginning of a lifelong friendship.

From that day on, they were inseparable. They walked home together after school, played football in the neighborhood field until sunset, and ran through the rain without caring about getting wet. Their laughter echoed in every corner of their childhood.

The night before exams, when everyone else was worried and stressed, they would encourage each other.

"Don't be scared. We can do this," Rahul would say.

"No matter what happens, we're together," Suman would reply.

They passed every stage of life side by side — secondary school, higher secondary, and then college. As they grew older, their dreams grew bigger too. One wanted to build a career in business, the other dreamed of a professional job. But they always promised one thing:

"Wherever life takes us, we will never forget each other."

After college, reality slowly began to change their routine. Job interviews, responsibilities, and career pressure started filling their days. They no longer met every afternoon, but they still had a weekly habit of sitting at their favorite tea stall, talking about life and remembering old times.

One evening, Suman said quietly,

"My family is talking about my marriage."

Rahul paused for a moment, then smiled,

"That's good. I guess we're really growing up now."

A few months later, Rahul heard the same discussion at his home. Marriage proposals, family gatherings, shopping, and endless preparations took over their lives. They were happy — but they could feel that a new chapter was beginning.

When Suman's wedding day arrived, Rahul stood beside him, watching his best friend dressed as a groom. It felt unreal. The boy who once ran barefoot in the muddy field was now starting a new life.

Soon after, it was Rahul's turn. On his wedding day, Suman stood proudly next to him, just like always.

Late that night, after all the ceremonies and celebrations, they found a quiet moment on the rooftop. Lights were shining everywhere, music was playing below, and the sky looked calm above them.

Suman smiled and said,

"Look at us. We really grew up."

Rahul looked at the sky and replied softly,

"Yes… but I hope we always share the same sky."

They both knew life would change. Responsibilities would increase. Time would become limited.

But deep inside their hearts, the friendship that started in a small classroom and grew in a muddy playground would always remain.
