Chapter 1 - Prologue

"Dya! Dya!, where are you?! Where have you gone?, you can't leave!" Naeem shouted throughout the halls, behind the training grounds and even in the ballroom. He searched desperately for Adyah. The longer he searched the more he began to feel his heart pound with agony, but there was nothing he could do. The only person who knew how to deal with his agony was his big sister Adyah, and she was nowhere to be found.

"Meyma! Hey, Meyma! Have you found her? Please tell me you've seen her." Even though Meyma was several years younger than Naeem, he still looked up at her.

"Breathe Naeem, you can't let his majesty find you like this! Pull yourself together, don't you know who you're talking to?". With a stern look on her face, Meyma pinched Naeem's nose. Her hand returned to its resting place on her hips. "You're so careless Naeem!" Now composed, Naeem fixed his posture to a military stance with one arm pressed on his back and the other on his chest.

"Here to report my findings, Commander"

" Better." Naeem hands over miscellaneous ribbons, letters, and jewelry.

"Hmmm. This I can work with, let's meet up after dinner to discuss a plan, and remember to keep your composure when you speak to his majesty. If he finds out we're trying to find her, who knows what might befall us."

Letting out an anxious sigh Naeem nods and walks back to his room.

'I know you wouldn't leave us without reason Adyah, you have to keep your promise! I'll find you, just wait for me' Meyma's thoughts had a very rigorous tone to them.

'The wind is blowing strong today, I should pick up the pace before nightfall..' Struggling to keep her hooded cloak on, she trails the path through the forest before reaching a small tavern.

"Why hello ther' lil' lady, what cana getcha this evening?" The man behind the bar spoke in a heavy accent that could almost be deemed a foreign language. But, without even hesitating she responds.

"Just a place for the night. Oh, and I'll take a pint of Ale if you have it. I've had a long day". As she drags her body and belongings to a nearby table the man behind the bar smirks and lets out a hefty chuckle.

"My, my lil' lady it seems you real' need that rest'. I'll go n' set up that room for yer'."

'Ok, lets see..hmmm. I've been gone about 4 days now, but I was approved for a 3 day break before I departed so his majesty shouldn't notice yet. I sure hope Naeem doesn't screw this up, maybe I should've spared him before I left. Ah well it's too late to worry about it now, I know my little Mey will get everything ready for my return.'

As her hands crossed while she pondered on her thoughts a loud thud rang through her ears. She looked across from her surprised to see a burly man sitting at her table.

"Today must be my lucky day to run into such a fine beauty as you in this run down tavern." He inched closer to her with his cup nearly touching hers.

"What's a fine harlot like you doin here? Looking for business in this shabby place?". A grin full of malice grew across his face, exposing a yellow smile and a few missing teeth. He slowly slid a card across the table, tapping it, as if he's demanding Adyah to look at it.

"Excuse me?" Adyah spoke these words with a very emotionless expression. But her eyes gave off a very intense aura. The man walks around the table and swings his arm around her shoulders.

"C'monnn don't be shy. I know what you're selling and I want to buy it! Here's my room number, I'll keep the door open for you sweetheart"

With one swift motion Adyah pulls out an axe from her cloak and simultaneously cuts off the fingers of the man that grazed her chest.

"AHHHH W-WHAT IS THIS" His back plummets to the tavern floors. Adyah now standing above him with her axe aimed at his forehead, a small drop of blood drips from the edge of the axe and he watches as it flows down the side of his cheeks

"Ugh you're too loud, all that yammering is annoying. I should cut your head, yes that would appease me." A deadly glare rested on Adyah's face.

"I-I-I I'm…P-Please!" Tears and snot ran across his clenched face, too scared to move or speak properly.

"It's always filth like you that dirty my axe". With one clean blow she sliced the remaining fingers of his hand.

"Pick them up, you're getting your filth everywhere". As he held in a scream of pain he scurried around the tavern to pick up his fingers that had gone flying in the air.

"Pah, what a vile creature". Using the remaining of her pint of ale, Adyah cleaned off her axe and headed toward her room.

'Not long now, I'll see Naeem and Meyma soon'..
