The story opens with the harrowing final moments of Leon Montoya in Pangasinan. As a first responder, he dies saving a child from a flash flood, only to wake up in the Cursed Wilds of Kawayan. Instead of a peaceful afterlife, he is greeted by a flickering, glitchy interface—the Anito System—which informs him that his soul has been "reclaimed" to serve as the world's balance.
The Rising Action: The Terror of the Barrios
Leon is found by Maya, a disgraced apprentice Babaylan (shaman), who is fleeing from a raiding party of Aswang. Weak and confused, Leon's "First Responder" instincts kick in. The System grants him his starting weapon: a rusted, spectral Bolo of the Ancestors.
As they travel toward the village of Sanctum, Leon realizes the hierarchy of this world:
The Sigbin: The scouts that hunt by scent.
The Manananggal: The aerial predators that terrorize the highlands.
The Tiyanak: Psychological horrors that haunt the dense jungles.
Leon struggles with his "System." Unlike traditional heroes, he doesn't gain XP just by killing; he earns it through "Pagsilbi" (Service). Saving a villager or purifying a corrupted spirit grants him "Spirit Essence," which he uses to unlock skills like Agimat Skin (Physical Resistance) and Anito Sight (Detecting Hidden Monsters).

The sky begins to turn a bruised crimson—an omen of the Red Moon. Maya explains that every century, the Rogue God (Sidapa's Shadow) breathes corruption into the land, turning peaceful spirits into mindless monsters. Leon discovers that the local Governor has made a blood-pact with a Tikbalang Warlord to protect the elite while sacrificing the poor.
The Climax: The Battle of the Great Balete
The Arc culminates in a massive siege on the village of Sanctum. Leon must lead a rag-tag group of survivors against an army of darkness. He faces the Tikbalang Warlord beneath the roots of a massive, glowing Balete Tree that serves as a portal to the spirit realm.
When Leon is on the brink of death—mirroring his drowning in Pangasinan—he "Syncs" with the System, unlocking his first major class: The Vanguard Anito. He doesn't just kill the Tikbalang; he purges the corruption from it, turning the monster back into a noble spirit of the forest.
The Resolution: A New Guardian
The Red Moon recedes, but the threat remains. Leon realizes the "System" is actually a countdown; the Rogue God is breaking the seals of the world. With Maya as his guide, Leon leaves the village to find the other "Seven Moons" before the Rogue God can consume them all.
