Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Introduction

"Beep beep, beep beep." The annoying sound of a phone alarm filled the room once tranquil room. A loud groan follows before a hand crawls sleepily towards the phone, turning off the raging alarm. The time was 7:45 am on a normal Wednesday morning. The figure pulled the covers of the bed off themselves before slowly making their way to the bathroom.

It seems sleep was still wrapped around them like a blanket, and as much as they wanted to go back to bed, an important assignment as school that was due today. So, they continued on to the bathroom before leaning against the sink with their hands and looking into the mirror. What stared back was a teenage boy, 17 years old to be precise. He had spiky black hair with a glowing pair of blue eyes. Kind of like the sky. He was tall, with sharp facial features and he had a lean and athletic physique. This boy, was Jackson Quinn. He splashed his face with cold water before turning on the shower and stepping in after kicking off his boxers. After showering, he dried himself off before getting dressed into a pair of black pants and a black shirt with a cool design on it. Jackson fixed up his messy hair before throwing his pyjamas onto his bed, along with the other pieces of dirty clothes scattered across his floor, hoping that he would remember to put them in the wash later which he couldn't be bothered to do now.

Jackson made his way downstairs, rubbing the last bit of sleep from his eyes and giving his cheeks a little slap to wake him up fully. "Hey honey," His mom, Julie, called out with a soft voice whilst keeping her eyes on the breakfast she was making. "Hey mom." Jackson replied as he walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a box of cereal along with some milk from the fridge.

After a while, they were both seated at the table, enjoying their breakfast quietly whilst engaging in small conversations along the way. During a break in conversation, Jackson's eyes couldn't help but drift towards the empty seat that was once normally occupied by his father, Adam Quinn. It was crazy how life could change as sudden as the click of someone's fingers. One day, he was with his father. And the next, he was gone. Jackson didn't know what actually happened to his father, besides being told that 'he mysteriously died whilst fighting a villain,' which is what his mother had told him, but with the look on her face, it was clear that she didn't actually believe that. And neither did Jackson. He knew he was being stubborn, but he couldn't help it. He had always been stubborn.

When Jackson was 13 years old, he learnt about who his father truly was. When he was a kid, he had noticed a few odd things that stemmed from his father. Like how one day, when they were about to head to a basketball game, his father had accidentally thrown the family car into space after having an argument with his mother. Due to being young, he didn't think much of it. Maybe it had been a dream or maybe it was a normal thing people could do, but then he learnt everything. His father had come from another planet. Yep, another planet. If Jackson could remember correctly, it was due to some guy attacking his father's planet which resulted in its destruction. That explains why his dad had to escape. After doing just that, he crash landed on the farm that Jackson's mother had lived on when she was a bit younger, and to conclude the story, after a few years, they had happily gotten married and birthed him. So yeah, Jackson's dad was an alien. An alien with basically the same exact appearance as humans but with super powers no less. Great. Of course it was no secret that things like aliens exist, look at Superman for example. An extremely strong super powered alien. But still, for something like this to happen to you is pretty hard to get a grip of.

It's safe to say that after turning 13, Jackson's life was never really the same. Especially after receiving the information that he too would develop powers when he was older, which would occur between 16 and 19 years of age. As a 13 year old, Jackson couldn't be more excited and he was especially impatient. The idea of flying around in the sky and lifting up cars was amazing, and he still liked the idea of doing those things today. But as he got older, he realised how much something like that would impact his daily life. Like what if he accidentally hurt his friends and family? Would he accidentally destroy his room after getting angry like how his dad destroyed the family car? Or would he be taken advantage of by adults, like scientists and men in black suits to be used as some sort of Guinea pig. To avoid stressing himself out, he never really went too deep into anything regarding the topic of his powers, but his mind would wonder whether he liked it or not. And it would wonder pretty commonly about this sort of thing. Which had increased after his father died. Or "died." It had especially been tough on his mother. Imagine the person you love with all your heart dies and there is no trace left of them. Could something really be worse than that? Despite this, Julie was also reluctant to believe Adam had passed, but, sort of came to terms with things over a long period of time had passed. Of course, Adam would sometimes be gone for a few days at a time when dealing with threats to the planet but he would never be gone for over a week. Especially over a year. But Jackson could see that she too was stubborn. That must of been where he got it from. It has been a year a half now since he died.

"Jackson?" His mother called out, noticing how he was zoned out. "Jackson?" She repeated again after receiving no response. This time a little louder, accompanied by soft tapping on the table. This time, Jackson snapped out of it, looking at his mother whilst starting to chew the food in his mouth once more. "Sorry. What's up?" He said with a slight mumble due to the food in his mouth. "You alright?" Julie asked concerningly with raised eyebrows. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. I gotta get to school or else I'll be late so I'll see you when I get home." He says whilst moving to put his bowl in the sink. "Ok. Be safe, yeah? I love you." Julie said back, looking at her son softly. Jackson grabbed his bag after slipping his shoes on and walked over to his mother, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "I will be, and I love you too." He said before walking to the door and leaving for school.

Jackson walked out of his country side home, hot air already hitting him like a truck. Maybe he should've worn lighter coloured clothing but, too late now. This was the town of Smallville, a nice rural town, close to the city of metropolis. Jackson walked to the front gate of his property before jumping over and waiting for the bus patiently. It didn't take long before it came to a stop next to him. He waited for the doors to open then jumped up the large steps before making his way to an empty seat located in the back of the bus. He set his bag down in the vacant seat next to him, before he placed his wired headphones into his ears and clicking play on his phone. Jackson was a big fan of music and always has been. He found himself listening to a lot of things and a lot of different genres, but found that R&B scratched a part of his brain that no other genre could scratch except for a few. Jackson also liked video games, climbing, skating, as well as sports. These hobbies had basically followed him throughout his life and never really drifted away from him as as he grew up.

The bus didn't take long for it arrive at its destination, Smallville High School. Jackson grabbed his bag and slung it over one of his shoulders. He was one of the last to step of the bus, giving the bus driver a small wave to thank him for his service before ultimately stepping stepping off the bus.

Jackson walked through the front doors, music continuing to play in his ears as to not hear the loud chatter of the people around him. He didn't understand how some people could be so loud this early in the morning.

He walked up to his locker and did the code before throwing his bag in after collecting his math book and his pencil case. Whilst shutting his locker, Jackson felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around, finding his good friend Mark Kavanah standing there with a grin on his face. "What's up dude?" Mark asked as he reached out his hand to dap up Jackson. Jackson took out his headphones with a small grin on his face. He dapped up Mark's outstretched hand before replying. "Not much man. What class you got?" He asked as they began walking down the hall. "Chemistry I think." Mark said with a sour look on his face, making it clear that he hated chemistry, which Jackson already knew. "Unlucky dude," Jackson said with a small laugh before speaking again, "I'll see you at break." Jackson said before turning right down one of the halls whilst Mark turned left. "See ya dude." Mark finished.

Jackson put his headphones back in, which were previously dangling at his neck, starting the music once more. After a few strides down the hall, he noticed a familiar face digging into their locker. A beautiful girl with long blonde hair and a pair of beautiful blue eyes. She had fair skin, and her hair was falling beautifully down her back like a waterfall. Jackson definitely couldn't forget about the killer body she had too. Her face was beautiful and her body was just perfect. Jackson stopped and stared at her beautiful form before snapping out of it as he heard the sound of Kara's locker shutting loudly. Jackson began to walk again, passing her and greeting her with a small hello. "Hey Kara." He said whist walking by. "Hey Jackson." She replied with a small smile before walking in the opposite direction as Jackson, heading to her class.

'She even smells like heaven,' Jackson thought to himself, before finally making his way to class. 'What a good start to my morning.'
