Chapter 2 - FEEL CREEPY

The annual school excursion was the most anticipated event of the year for the students of Class Nine. Their destination was a hilly island surrounded by dense forest and the sea. Blue water stretched endlessly around it, and in the middle rose green hills covered with thick jungle—like a picture-perfect paradise.

Among the students was a teenage girl named Jacqueline. Though she was good at her studies, her true passion was photography. She had grown up using her father's old camera, capturing moments and scenes whenever she could. Whenever she photographed nature, she felt as if she stepped into another world.

After arriving on the island, while everyone else was busy playing and laughing near the beach, Jacqueline became absorbed in capturing the beauty around her. Sunlight shimmered on the leaves, clouds floated gently around the slopes of distant hills—she could not resist photographing such breathtaking views.

At one point, she noticed a narrow path leading into the forest. The interplay of light and shadow made it look mysterious and inviting. "If I go a little deeper, I'll find even better shots," she thought. Her friends were busy by the shore, so without telling anyone, she stepped into the jungle.

At first, the path was easy to follow. The chirping of birds, the fragrance of unknown flowers, and the rustling of leaves fascinated her. She kept walking, clicking pictures along the way. But gradually, the forest grew denser. The trees intertwined so tightly overhead that the sky was no longer visible. Still, driven by her excitement, she continued forward.

Suddenly she realized that everything around her looked the same. She could no longer recognize the path she had taken. There was no network signal on her phone. The sun was already setting. Her heart began to pound. "Have I lost my way?" she whispered in fear.

Meanwhile, when her classmates boarded the bus to leave, they noticed Jacqueline was missing. Teachers searched frantically and informed the island authorities. As evening fell, for safety reasons, the group had to return to the mainland, with promises that a rescue team would come the next day.

Alone in the jungle, Jacqueline understood that panic would not help—she had to survive. She remembered some basic survival skills she had learned during a school scout camp. First, she found a dry, slightly elevated place where wild animals were less likely to come at night. Beneath a large tree, she cleared away dry leaves and made a small shelter.

The first night was the most terrifying. Strange sounds echoed in the darkness—distant howls, insects buzzing endlessly. Fear gripped her, but looking up at the stars gave her strength. "I can do this," she whispered to herself.

The next morning, hunger twisted her stomach. She knew eating unfamiliar fruits could be dangerous. So she drank water from a nearby stream to stay hydrated. Luckily, she found a fallen coconut. After struggling to break it open with a rock, she drank the water and ate the flesh, regaining some energy.

As days passed, she decided to stay near the stream since water was essential for survival. She reinforced her shelter with stronger branches. At first, her attempts to start a fire by striking stones failed. But after several days of effort, she finally managed to ignite dry wood and leaves. The warmth of the fire comforted her, and smoke rose into the sky—perhaps someone would see it.

One afternoon, a storm struck the island. Heavy rain destroyed her shelter. Soaked and shivering, she found refuge in a cave-like structure on a hillside. Inside, she discovered strange carvings on the walls—possibly ancient markings. She took several photographs as proof of her incredible experience.

On another day, while searching for food, she suddenly encountered a wild boar. Frozen with fear, she quickly climbed a nearby tree. After what felt like hours, the animal wandered away. That day she realized that every step in the jungle had to be taken carefully.

The days were monotonous yet full of struggle. In an open area, she arranged branches and tied pieces of cloth to form a large SOS sign. Every morning she climbed to a higher spot to look for boats or helicopters in the distance.

Meanwhile, news of her disappearance spread through the media. Her family, teachers, and authorities were deeply worried. Rescue teams repeatedly searched the island, but finding her in the dense forest proved extremely difficult.

On the twenty-first day, Jacqueline felt extremely weak. Food was nearly gone, and her body was exhausted. Yet she gathered her remaining strength to light a fire once more, sending smoke into the sky. Suddenly, she heard the distant sound of a helicopter. At first, she could hardly believe it. Then she began shouting and waving her cloth desperately.

The helicopter flew closer. The smoke and the SOS sign had likely caught their attention. Soon, rescuers reached her. After twenty-one long days of struggle, Jacqueline was finally safe.

After receiving treatment at the hospital, she gradually recovered. The photographs she had taken—of the forest's beauty, the cave carvings, the stormy sky—were published in newspapers. They stood as silent witnesses to her courage.

The experience changed her deeply. She learned that nature is as harsh as it is beautiful. And she discovered that inner strength, determination, and intelligence can help a person survive even the most challenging circumstances.

When she returned to school, her friends hugged her tightly, tears in their eyes. Jacqueline simply smiled. She knew those twenty-one days had not only taught her how to survive—but also revealed the true strength within herself.
