Chapter 1 - the End of Waiting, Love Returned in the Rain

💖 At the End of Waiting, It Was You

📖 The First Meeting

It was a rainy afternoon in Kolkata. The crowd at College Street had thinned a little. Meghla was standing in front of a bookstore, holding a book by Rabindranath Tagore in her hands. Suddenly, a voice from beside her said,

— "If you're taking this one, you should also read 'Shesher Kobita.'"

Meghla turned and saw an unfamiliar young man smiling gently at her. His name was Arnab. He wore glasses and a simple shirt. But his smile was different — calm and sincere.

They didn't talk much that day. Just exchanged names and spoke briefly about their studies. Yet when Meghla returned home, she realized she couldn't get him out of her mind.

📖 The Beginning of Friendship

Days passed. They began to see each other often in the library. One day Arnab said,

— "How about we grab some coffee and argue about books?"

That was the beginning of their friendship. After college, they would sit at the Coffee House, sharing stories, dreams, and plans for the future.

Meghla learned that Arnab came from a very simple family. He had big dreams, but also many responsibilities. And Arnab understood that though Meghla appeared strong on the outside, she was deeply sensitive within.

Slowly, the color of their friendship began to change. Whenever their eyes met, a strange silence would fall between them. Both knew something was shifting.

📖 The Distance

One day, Arnab announced that he had to move to another city for a job.

Meghla's heart trembled slightly, but she smiled and said,

— "Go. Fulfill your dreams."

At the railway station, before leaving, Arnab said softly,

— "If I return and find you still waiting, I'll know my world is still the same."

The train departed. Tears filled Meghla's eyes. Days turned into months. They spoke on the phone, but the closeness they once shared was no longer there.

Then suddenly, one day, all communication stopped. His number was unreachable. No updates on social media. Meghla broke down. She thought perhaps Arnab had forgotten her.

📖 At the End of Waiting

One year later. The same rainy afternoon. Meghla stood again in front of the bookstore at College Street. Suddenly, from behind, a familiar voice said —

— "If you're taking this one, you should also read 'Shesher Kobita.'"

Meghla turned around. Arnab! A little more mature than before, but with the same smile.

Arnab said,

— "I suddenly lost contact because there were many problems at home. But I had promised I would return."

Meghla's eyes filled with tears.

— "I knew you would."

Raindrops were falling all around. Arnab slowly held her hand and said,

— "This time, I won't go anywhere, if you stay by my side."

Meghla smiled softly.

— "If you are there at the end of waiting, then every pain is worth it."

Standing in the rain, a new story began for them — one without distance, filled only with love and trust.
