Throughout a majestic sea of light a flickering golden ball could be seen wandering the unknown looking around and exploring the place,but the vast expanse was never ending.
'Is this the afterlife?' Thought Oliver before grasping the gravity of the situation.
'So I really died…Not even managing to see my killer,how pathetic' A deep sense of regret started to flourish in Oliver soul.The golden ball being seen flickering faster than before.Different emotions now coming up all at once.
The deep feeling of regret wasn't only because of his murder,the source of these emotions were the cause of his unrealized ambitions that were crushed over and over again.
He always wished to become a great explorer a dream which was destroyed right after finishing his studies,calamity striking at this unfortunate soul.A war which devastated humanity ravaged upon the clueless people fighting till the last man,leaving only a fraction of civilization alive.
People being forced to abandon their dreams and band together trying to rebuild what was left.Only to end up worse than before.
'I still remember those times like it was yesterday…' Oliver frustration seemed to diminish now while remembering about his family,one of the only things that can calm him down when he is in a bad mood.
'Enough reminiscing for now I should look around this place more '
After some time of strolling around Oliver could not see the landscape to be changing.
'Is this place infinite?I've been floating around the place for a while now and everything looks like it's made of light'.
'Wasn't I suppose to have a guide here?No Anubis here to keep me company,this place doesn't resemble any description of the afterlife from earth to begin with'
'Where I am actually' Oliver began to think deeply about this.
While he was still lost in his own thoughts, all of a sudden the sea light began to lose its golden color, taking on a form and hue similar to that of tar.The golden ball quickly took notice of the strange phenomena trying it's best to stay calm.
The black tar slowly formed little waves making it seem like something was ready to emerge from whatever was down under.
A majestic white whale came with no stain of tar on it.It surfaced for a while and quickly dive back not before eyeing the big golden ball hovering over the black tar. Leaving Oliver amazed.
'Looks like my time has finally come now'
'I wonder from what doctrine these whale comes from.After it guides me would I go to heaven?Would I reincarnate?Maybe nothing will occur and my soul will disappear' Oliver was surprisingly calm at the moment thinking about all the possibilities that would happen the next time it will appear.
The immense pressure could be felt across the sea of lights. Not knowing when the whale would strike and if the golden ball would be its next target.
And suddenly the waves began to rise again and the whale appeared in the landscape.This time the pearly white whale was heading straight for Oliver.
Oliver believed in that moment that the whale should be a guide to the afterlife therefore he stood still accepting his fate once and for all
'Come on death!Come here and finish me once and for all'
'You are lucky I have no mouth so I could scream my lungs out at you'
Seeing that the golden ball remained motionless, the whale plunged straight in and opened its mouth.
Inside was an incredible paysage that could leave any person with their mouth agape, planets the size of a finger, solar systems were minuscule compared to a human, galaxies small enough to fit inside a house. The entire thing was magnificent and frightening at the same time knowing that all of this was inside a 'living being'.
'How can something like this even exist?Is that an entire universe living inside this whale?'
Oliver just stood there terrified and amazed at the same time,accepting his fate of being eaten .Knowing that there was nothing he could do to prevent this.
'I am actually going to get devoured' says the golden ball before losing most of it's luster and looking more like a simple rock wandering the vast cosmos.
Upon ingesting the golden ball the pearly whale plunged right back into the black tar.Leaving no traces of it's existence behind.
After a few moments of absolute silence, the whale begins to shed a few tears after it has consumed the soul and recovered the person's memories.No matter how many times They devoured other souls, They would never get used to the process of obtaining their memories after consumption,reliving their lives over and over again until the digestion was complete.
All of sudden a majestic voice started to resonate in the black sea
''What a pitiful being …Nothing has gone his way at all.Human really are impressive,all this struggle and for what?Leaving nothing memorable behind after death is just…sad''
After hearing that sublime voice the whale could only stop in it's tracks and continue to listen.
"Give me that soul!You don't need more asteroids in your belly"
'Why should I? I am the one who obtained it first.It's been eons since I last ate such a succulent soul '
The whale wanted to refuse the entity at first but a premonition instantly warned what the consequences of this refusal would be.
'This being is trouble,I never felt such a dangerous aura in my entire existence'
"What are you waiting beast?Is that soul really delicious that you aren't willing to give it up?'' This time it's tone became more serious.Their aura intensifying with each passing moment.
*Gulp*
A cold chill crept through the whale after hearing the voice again.
They immediately spit the rock out and ran away.Feeling that something bad would happen if it stayed any longer.
The entity hand extended throughout the whole space and slowly picked up the rock
'There is still some soul energy left in it.A little feed for his soul wouldn't hurt '
The entity held the rock tightly in it's hand while emanating a red aura around it.
The rock luster was slowly coming back,it's golden light becoming stronger than before with the addition of a small layer of red light coming out of it.
'This guy sure is hungry,he even ate a little more than he should,I didn't expect that he will have the storage for it.You were unlucky human to be born in a world without powers.With this talent, you thrived provided you were born into the right world..Consider it a little blessing coming from [Me] 'says the entity studying the rock to make sure everything is alright.
'Look like he is still sleeping for a while,not lie it matter anyways.He would forget ever being to this place. ' thought the entity,completely proud of itself after resuscitating a devoured soul.
After carefully inspecting the refined ball They held it a little tighter with their left hand while using it's right one to open a purple portal,it's destination being currently unknown even to the entity.
'I should hold enough authority to sent this soul away' says the entity while trying it's best to keep the portal open.
Before trowing the soul in the portal the entity suddenly whispered something in it's majestic voice,knowing that the ball probably wouldn't remember any of this after he awakens.
"Go forth, little one! Go and try again! You shall prosper and explore, live and laugh as any mortal should. Cry as they do, and grow angry as they do. Tread carefully this time the gods are watching you.[I] will watch you ''
"For now goodbye…"
The entity threw the soul and rapidly close the portal being completely depleted
"I must rest for now,my authority still hasn't fully recovered"
With that the entity closed it's 'eyes' not knowing when it will be the next time it will wake up.
