He immediately rose from the bed when He felt something cold and wet fell onto his face followed by his ears filled by the sound of a steady, muffled hiss that seem to be coming from outside.
Instinctively, He reach up with his hand to touch his forehead, where He felt the cold wet sensation. And when He wipes it off with his fingers and looked at them-
' ... Water? '
He thought.
Then, soon after, another cold wet sensation land above his head, causing him to looked up the room ceiling.
Turns out, there were cracks on the ceiling above him, and it appears that water have seep through those cracks and began to drip onto him. As for where those waters were coming from...
He remove the old blanker off of him and crawl off from the old bed as He made his way towards the only window of the room shortly after.
After looking through the broken window, his suspicion is clear.
' It's raining. '
He thought.
And indeed it was. Outside of the window reveals quite a heavy rain. The sound of frantic, relentless drumming as the heavy rain mask the outside view with its grey sheet of water, though He could still make out a glimpse of the street and old buildings.
Not thinking much of it, He turn himself away from the window before He went back to the side of the bed to grab his pen flashlight and his pistol from beneath the pillow(He also went to remove the pillow and place on the table beside the bed as He doesn't want it to soak up with rainwater. Though He can't say the same for the bed).
With the pen flashlight and the pistol back in his grasp, He went, opened the room door, and exits the room, closing the door shut behind him.
Heading to his right, walk through the narrow hallway and turning to the left shorty, He made it to the living room of the small apartment room. A small living room consist a small brown leather couch with a small old rectangular coffee table and a rather old school looking TV on an old wooden cabinet, a few more old wooden cabinets, and last for not least, a glass door leading to the balcony.
He made his way towards the couch before settling himself down on it, feeling the firm yet comfortable old leather.
' ... Comfy. '
He briefly thought.
Placing down his pen flashlight on the coffee table, He then press his pistol's magazine release to release the magazine, where He is met with a bit of resistance upon attempting to grab the magazine out by the magazine's baseplate. With a bit of effort, He finally took the magazine out before placing it down on the coffee table next to the pen flashlight.
' That was a bit rough. '
He briefly thought once more.
He already knew that the pistol is old and is in a rough condition, and that earlier definitely proved it.
Racking the slide back to release the cartridge that was in the chamber, He attempt to catch the cartridge that was briefly in the air with his hand, which He failed as the cartridge fell and landed onto floor beneath him.
- Sigh... -
Sighing to himself, He briefly reach down to grab the ejected cartridge and place it on the coffee table along with his now empty pistol.
After a moment of organizing things, He finally lean back and briefly crosses both of his arms together before resting a hand beneath his own chin as He looked down at his placed items.
[Inventory]:
- 1x MP-443 GRACH9x19mm (Empty)
- 1x Old pen flashlight
- 1x MP-443 GRACH 18 round 9x19mm magazine (17x Round 9x19mmparabellum '7n21')
- 1x9x19mmparabellum '7n21' cartridge
These were all He has currently. A total of 18 pistol bullets and a tiny flashlight.
While the amount of bullet is enough to defend himself, He can't be certain that the poor pistol will guarantee do its job. It like playing a game of chance; if He pull the trigger, who knows what will happened next.
After evaluating his current items in inventory, He briefly nod to himself.
In conclusion: could've been worse. If He didn't notice and search beneath those paper piles in that cabinet back at the pod room, He would've ended up with just the pen flashlight. And when He think about it, perhaps that might be the reason why he's so dedicated into scavenging back at the store to that vehicle wreckage at that street yesterday. 'At the rocks surface, it doesn't seem much, but once you dedicated enough to dug deep into it, you'll eventually struck gold.' , perhaps that's what it is.
He went to insert the spare cartridge into the magazine, re-inserting the magazine back into the pistol before racking it soon after, He placed the pistol back down and stood up from the couch soon after He grabbed his pen flashlight.
Exiting the small living room, standing at the living room doorway, there He stood infront of a door leading into a small storage room, a room that which He haven't gotten a chance to investigate last night. (Though in truth, He actually haven't gone to the apartment room's bathroom and kitchen, due to the that his focus is occupied on finding a way to barricade the apartment room exposed entrance. And to add in an extra excuse, He was also tired after all that scavenging yesterday.)
He reach down to the door handle, flick the handle, and opening it inward as He turn on and shine his small beam of light into the room.
Inside reveals quite a messy sight. Lots of dust, a couple of large old cabinet, a decent amount of cardboard boxes, a lot of random miscellaneous stuff, and even a few seemingly antique items.
Entering the small storage room, He does what as a raccoon attended: scavenge and rummage.
He search through the storage room, from boxes to the cabinet. But shortly after, He suddenly found something in one of the large cabinet, something that's actually useful that He have always wanted to have.
It was an old leather satchel, seemingly have been kept away in the cabinet for who knows how long.
Taking out the satchel, He place his pen flashlight onto his shoulder and tilt his head slightly, holding it in place, illuminating the satchel in his hand as He brush off the dust on it with his other hand.
[Found]:
+ Old leather satchel
The leather satchel seemed rather intact. It felt quite sturdy and warm to the touch, though maybe a bit soft, most likely from age.
He test the weight of the satchel in his grasp for a moment before He reach to his pen flashlight to get it off his shoulder and place it on top of a cabinet beside him.
Reaching out to held the leather sling of the satchel into his free hand, He finally wore it over his shoulder as He briefly adjust the sling position over his shoulder soon after.
He gently pat the old satchel that is now on his side.
' Finally, I could actually carry things now! '
He happily thought. So happy that He could jump around to cheer for his actual good discovery... Mentally of course.
Most probably know how much that satchel really meant for him at that moment. And for those who don't, here's a quick explanation:
loot stuff - found good loot - no space to put good loot - no space = no loot - sad - found satchel - satchel = space - can finally search loot and put loot inside satchel - Happy.
Understand now?
Dusting off his hands together, returning his pen flashlight to his grasp and turned its light off, He exits the storage room before shutting the door behind.
But when He react the doorway to the living room, He suddenly remembered something. The wardrobe. The one that He have pushed from the bedroom to block the open apartment room entrance, which He didn't had the chance to search through last night.
Turning to his right where the wardrobe is as well as the apartment room entrance.
After a moment of thinking, He simply shrugs before proceed to return to the living room. And few seconds later, He return to the doorway before finally goes to the wardrobe, now with both hands free after He placed down his pen flashlight at the living room.
Approaching the wardrobe, He goes to the side of the wardrobe(due to it having been rotated to the side as well as the wardrobe doors being blocked by the open apartment room entrance doorway) before He reach both hands out, briefly testing which part of the wardrobe He could grasp the most before finally began to pull the wardrobe.
It didn't took long until He finally pulled the wardrobe just enough to make space to open the wardrobe while having it still blocking the entrance doorway.
He circle around before He went to open the wardrobe. And as He did, He discovered quite a collection in it.
Inside were a couple of hanging old clothes, mostly consist of dresses. And among the dresses were either some jackets, sweaters, and even some coats hanging among them.
It's without a doubt that someone used to live here at one point before having leave in a hurry, as far as what He observed.
He stare at the old collection of clothes for a moment before picking and took out one of the dresses without thinking much of it.
It was an old black dress that He have taken out. And when He brush off some dust on the dress and briefly ran his fingers through the fabric to test how it feels, it felt quite smooth to the touch, and perhaps there is a bit of softness to it too.
He wasn't sure of what kind of fabric it made out of nor what type of dress it is, but all He know is that it is a relatively great looking dress. Though it's unfortunate that its been left behind, abandoned within the wardrobe, with no one to wore it for the next who-knows-how-long. Unless he's... Well, a woman. Then maybe that'll change.
He shook his head momentarily erase that thought.
' I'm going off topic here. '
He put back the dress into the wardrobe among the dresses.
' I... Should check on the coats. '
He reach out to grab one of the coats from the wardrobe, dusting it off too as He did.
The coat in question is an old black leather coat. The coat has a somewhat of a similar feel in his hands like the satchel at his side. Though except a few minor differences such as it being... A coat(thanks captain obvious) and it has a bit of roughness to it instead of soft.
(He doesn't know what he's doing. Just talking stuff that came up in his mind as if someone could hear or read him right now... Oh wait-)
He inspect the coat in his hands for a moment before He turned and made his way back to the living room.
Once inside the living room, He gently places the coat on the couch before taking off the satchel and place it on the coffee table soon after.
Grabbing the coat again, without thinking much, He finally wore the coat, putting his arms into the coat sleeves before ensuring it into his shoulders.
Adjusting the cuff of the coat sleeves and much tugging the coat later, He finally looked down at himself.
Overall, the coat felt quite comfortable, warm, and surprisingly fit around his body size(which He was worrying about just earlier). Though its a little bit tight around the cuffs, most likely due to size, but it wasn't enough to bother him much or in the way, so it's negligible.
After taking his moment to admire the newfound coat He now worn, He went to grab his satchel back before wearing it back around his shoulder.
Adjusting the leather sling for a brief moment, a small proud smile form on his lips as He place his hands on his hip.
' Felt pretty great, and prepared now. Nice! '
He happily thought.
For the first time since waking up from the pod, He had never felt greater and prepared after finding the satchel and the coat, and combined with his pen flashlight and his pistol too, He felt like a... Like a real survivor... Or a scavenger... Maybe both?
Letting out a short sigh, He felt back onto the leather couch and rest his arm on the arm rest, where He began to think and plan his next course of action. But before that, He need to address something to himself, way back at the bunker.
Right, those burning questions He have asked to himself, as if He has all the answer in the world the moment He woke up in that freezer.
First of all, who is He?
Well unfortunately, He haven't gotten the answer to that yet. But as far as He currently knew, He kinda ashamed to whoever He was that think its a bright idea to decide to wore such bare-bone clothes into the freezer. Like, at least wore like a long pants and even a jumpsuit!
No wonder He got frozen real quick in that pod. Although even if He did wore as such, will it make a different?
Next; his own name.
...
Same answer like before; no answer.
Placing a hand on his forehead, He briefly shook his head.
' Why i'm I even bother with these questions right now when I don't even have the answer yet. '
Letting out a tired sigh, He slowly stood back up from the couch before making his way towards the balcony.
Reaching the balcony doorway and standing in front of an old dirty glass door, He reach down to the door latch before opens the glass door inward.
Stepping out into the balcony, He was immediately hit by a gust of cold wind for a brief moment along by the clear sound of heavy rain.
Resting his hands on the balcony edges, he's met with quite an atmospheric view.
A blurry view of a couple of distant old tall buildings along with smaller buildings and the streets below, combined with the current heavy rain that created a rather bluish tint as well as the occasional gust of cold wind.
He took the moment to relax, to admire and ponder the view along with the rain at his position, before reaching up with a hand and rubbing his chin with his fingers.
' ... What should I do next? '
He thoughtfully thinks.
Thinking back yesterday, there were a lot of places that He either haven't looked, forgotten, or haven't gotten the chance to search and scavenge.
Maybe He could go back to those places and explore more into the city now that he's quite prepared.
He could either go back to the bunker yesterday, explore deeper into the city, or maybe... The entire apartment room he's in right now.
From there at that moment, He finally began to think throughly, planning on his next course of action.

Author's note
Hello again, reader! I hope you're enjoying this series so far.
Sorry if this part came out a bit shorter🥲. I wasn't sure on what I should write in this part, so I just decided that this part will focus on developing our protagonist's character.
(I find it funny that I always finished writing these part/chapter either at night or midnight at my place.)
Now with that out of the way, I'll just repeat what I've wrote from my note at the prologue:
(You can skip this if you want.)
---
If you have any suggestion, question or comment, you can submit them here. I would like to see what you readers honest thought and opinion about this series so far.
What you think about the writing so far?
Was it too long/too much 'yap'? or was it too short?
How are the grammars?
Are there any scene/part that you think that it's missing/lacking something?
All of these sorts of questions!
Seeing and taking your suggestion, tips, and opinion really helps me to become a better writer in the future.
(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
---
Now that our 'nameless' protagonist is thinking of his next course of action and is currently having quite a difficult time doing so, how about you readers go help or assist him so He could easily come to his conclusion in his choices.
These type of option will occasional appears at some point in the future chapter/part to perhaps help/assist the protagonist in his choices. Perhaps one of the choices will led him to something rewarding, or maybe less (and totally not me running out of ideas and having a hard time thinking of what to write next ಥ‿ಥ).
But don't worry if you readers picked the 'wrong' option, as I'm considering that these polls will not have much of an impact into the series. Think of it as merely a way for me to easily plan my next course of what I should do next.
(Huh, funny, it help both myself and the protag. Neat.)
Alright, with everything out of the way, pick a choice readers.

[Our 'nameless' protagonist is thinking of his next course of action and is currently having quite a difficult time doing so. Where should He go next?]
[1] Return to the bunker to search it thoroughly. With a 'proper' preparation this time.
[2] Explore deeper into the city. Perhaps He could find/discover something intriguing.
[3] Just explore and search around the apartment building he's currently at. He's already in it after all.
[4] ... Or do you have other option/suggestion? (Put it in comment)
