"Ow!"
A young boy, fell to the ground as his father and mentor stood behind him. A whip in his hand, the man bore an angry glare and flicked his whip, striking his son.
"How useless can you be!? You can't summon a shadow, you can't revive a fresh corpse, you can't even tame a pigeon!"
With every pause, he flicked his whip and struck his son. Nearby, in the shade sat a woman and a boy. They wore fancy clothing and laughed at the son as he was struck.
"Huhuhu..." the woman laughed, "Such a disgrace to the Creatra name. Whip him more, dear!"
This woman cheered the father on. This was the father's wife, and the son's step-mother. The boy was then the son's half-brother, as he was the woman's son.
This son's name is Dante Creatra, he is the fourth son and the tenth child in the Creatra family.
Dante's father whipped him again and again, until he was satisfied.
"Go to your room." he commanded, "Don't come out until tomorrow, we have guests over."
Dante scrambled up, and ran to his room; a little closet in the basement with only a blanket and pilllow.
He wanted to leave this family, he wanted to be free.
He fell asleep to the sounds of a grand ball happening just above him, where his father celebrated his other son's birthday.
