Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

In the twenty-square-meter rental room, Qi Feng rubbed his chin, deep in thought.

Right now, there were over a hundred Quirks available for him to choose from, and for a moment he actually felt dazzled, unsure which one to pick.

All Might's One For All wasn't there, and conversely, the bald man's All For One wasn't either. It seemed every person's Quirk was unique—even if the attributes were similar, the way they manifested would be worlds apart.

Qi Feng even saw some really useless Quirks, like charging electrical appliances, turning hands into electric fans, or turning feet into propellers. These might have some commercial use, but for combat they were way too childish.

Since he had the chance to choose a Quirk, he definitely wanted to pick one that he believed had the strongest growth potential and the most destructive power.

"Thunder attribute, light attribute, dark attribute, wind attribute, ice attribute, air manipulation, recovery attribute, strength attribute, metal attribute, poison gas attribute…"

Qi Feng felt these types were pretty decent, but choosing just one among them felt quite difficult. The water, fire, and such ones were already super common—he had to pick something no one had ever seen before. That way it would be cool, right?

"Air manipulation." Qi Feng muttered the words. He remembered that the owner of All For One had stolen a Quirk called Air Pressure among others. But compared to full air manipulation, that seemed overly narrow. Air manipulation could naturally derive air pressure techniques, but air pressure couldn't achieve full air manipulation.

From what Qi Feng remembered in his previous life while binge-watching My Hero Academia on his tablet at the Taoist temple, only a portion of Quirks had been revealed: Yaoyorozu Momo's Creation, Bakugo Katsuki's Explosion, Todoroki Shoto's Half-Cold Half-Hot, and so on. Basically, all those weird and wonderful Quirks were already out there.

But the ones Qi Feng had picked out seemed like they probably didn't exist in this world—or if they did, only a very few people had them. Honestly, Qi Feng really wanted the air manipulation Quirk. Imagine: during a fight, suddenly making your opponent suffocate. That kind of move was downright terrifying.

You wouldn't even need to fight head-on. If the enemy didn't notice you, they could just suffocate without anyone knowing who did it. Just thinking about it was thrilling.

But Qi Feng also thought the light attribute sounded pretty good. He didn't know its exact features yet, but light and darkness were opposites, just like yin and yang in Taiji—one yin, one yang; one primary, one secondary.

He wasn't planning to choose a dark attribute Quirk. After all, he intended to apply to U.A. High in the future. That kind of attribute would make people instinctively think "shady" or "villainous." (Though Tokoyami Fumikage was an exception—his Dark Shadow was pretty dark too, but he had his whole aesthetic and backstory set up properly.)

If he, a Chinese person, chose a dark attribute Quirk, he'd definitely get labeled as a spy or a bad guy.

Better safe than sorry—Qi Feng didn't want to gamble. What if some dog-headed police chief arrested him for "research"? He still wanted to live a few more years.

That said, no matter which attribute he chose and cultivated to a certain level, it would crush most Quirks anyway. The most important point was that in this world, he could cultivate Dao—commonly known as immortal cultivation (xianxia).

Over these past days, Qi Feng had observed that spiritual energy existed everywhere, but it was faint and scarce. Cultivating from the Qi Refining stage all the way to Foundation Establishment would be harder than ascending to the heavens.

By the time he reached Foundation Establishment, his Quirk might already be fully developed.

Still, having an extra life-saving method was better than none. This wasn't the anime he watched anymore—this was a real, living world. Maybe this world was far bloodier and more complicated than what he saw in the animation.

No matter the environment, a person needed rationality. Qi Feng understood this principle very well.

"Let's go with the thunder attribute." Qi Feng had made up his mind. This attribute should be rare. Kaminari Denki's Quirk was electricity, but compared to true thunder, it was nowhere close, right?

There was also a selfish reason: what if he cultivated to Foundation Establishment and faced a heavenly tribulation? Who knew if there would be lightning tribulation? If there was, having a thunder-attribute Quirk would be perfect. Once he reached Foundation Establishment, neither One For All nor All For One would be his match.

By then, he could fulfill his ambition. And what was his ambition?

Of course—left arm around Yaoyorozu Momo, right arm holding Midnight-sensei, hahaha! What was he even thinking? Qi Feng wasn't that kind of person. Don't get the wrong idea—it was just a joke.

Qi Feng indulged in the fantasy for a moment, then burst into cheerful laughter. After laughing for a good while, he straightened his expression and spoke to the system in his mind: "I choose the thunder attribute Quirk."

"Congratulations, Host. You have obtained the right to choose a sub-attribute Quirk. You may now select one additional Quirk on top of the thunder attribute."

Qi Feng: "???"

There was actually such a good thing? Qi Feng was instantly stunned. Was this system really this awesome? It seemed he was different from protagonists in other novels—others got坑人 (坑 = scammy/pitfall) systems from the start, but his transmigration system was treating him so generously?

"I choose air manipulation." Qi Feng barely hesitated and picked air manipulation. This hidden ultimate killer move, concealed under the cover of the thunder attribute Quirk, would definitely stay hidden and deliver unexpected blows to enemies.

Once Qi Feng had selected his main Quirk and sub-Quirk, bursts of lightning suddenly erupted from within his body. After the lightning came a brief vacuum state, silencing all sound.

The place Qi Feng lived was in an ordinary residential complex. When his soul transmigrated here, the body already existed. From his memories, the original owner of this body had no parents—he was now an orphan.

This complex was housing built by the state for ordinary citizens, specifically for low-income households. Qi Feng qualified as one.

Looking at his messy, chaotic room, Qi Feng didn't feel annoyed at all. Instead, he felt extremely excited.

Right now, he could clearly sense two forces inside his body: the thunder attribute Quirk power in front, air manipulation power behind. From the strength perspective, both were still at a very beginner level.

Host: Qi FengQuirks: Thunder/Lightning (Thunder God Descent), Air ManipulationQuirk Levels: Thunder/Lightning (Thunder God Descent) (lv1/0/100), Air Manipulation (lv1/0/100)Spatial Storage: None

A string of information appeared in Qi Feng's mind. He felt a bit puzzled and asked the system, "How do I level up these Quirks?"

The system gave an official explanation: "There are two methods. First: draw Quirk Experience Fruits from the lottery system to increase Quirk experience and level up. Second: train and adapt to the Quirk through your own practice and continuous development to accumulate experience points."

Qi Feng understood. No matter what, if he wanted to become stronger and make his Quirks more proficient, he had to rely on the Salvation System's "坑人" setup—save people to earn points.

Once Salvation Points went up, he could draw the lottery, and that would improve his strength.

In his previous life, Qi Feng had been half a Taoist priest. Taoists might not have many standout abilities, but they had plenty of perseverance. Even if he couldn't save people, he could slowly grind and temper his Quirks. Anyway, it was still early— even Midoriya-kun was still Quirkless right now, and he already had two Quirks.

Thinking like that made Qi Feng feel much more balanced.

In this world where light concealed darkness, Qi Feng's eyes showed unprecedented determination. In his previous life he had been an obscure, broken-down Taoist. In this life, with such powerful Quirks and his personality, he was definitely going to stir up quite a bit of trouble.
