Inside the dark cell where I lay, I stared at the pile of souls surrounding me from every direction, their color a deep, dark red, their faces twisted, screaming and begging for salvation from the wrong person.
Because I was now in a worse state than all of them.
Inside a strange place, in a world I did not belong to, and in a body that was not mine either.
The place was extremely dark, and yet I could see… somehow.
But after everything that had happened to me over the past few months, I honestly was not surprised by that at all. This was the least strange thing I had experienced recently.
I suppose I did not come out of all of this without gaining something, at least?
The problem was that when I compared what I had gained to what I had lost, I realized that this ridiculous gift meant nothing to me.
I looked at the metal cell door, the door that had not been opened since the bastards from the Bureau of Public Investigation threw me into this cursed place. Even so, none of that really mattered to me, especially since I needed some rest, and this place, despite everything, was capable of giving me that much at least.
But even the small amount of cursed peace I had gained in this cursed place did not last long. One day, the metal door suddenly opened.
And the person standing behind it was the last man I expected to see.
"You?"
