Chapter 9 - Nine

Zaya

The days have been relatively normal.

If normal means having to deal with two very conflicting personalities in one person and not knowing what to do about it, then yes, my days were normal. But if not, I think I might be going insane at this point.

I know this shouldn't be happening, but I lived for how he made me feel. The way he took control of my body and made me call him master… I didn't know I liked any of those things until now. I'm talking about the choking, the control, the fact that he did that to me out in the open on the dining table. I'm pretty sure the entire world heard us at this point.

My wolf was thrilled by everything, and she wanted more. I wasn't sure how I felt about wanting more from someone who took me against my will to become a breeder.

And then there were times when he went cold, giving me mechanical replies and avoiding me like I was diseased or something. All of it was messing with my head.

"Aaahhhh!"

I screamed into my pillow.

What I didn't expect was for Alpha Ryan to burst into the room so suddenly.

I jerked and my face turned a warm, bright shade of red.

At this point, the moon goddess could kill me now.

He furrowed his brows at me, the edges of his lips slightly upturned. "What the fuck are you doing?" he asked.

"Nothing at all…. What could I possibly be doing?"

Why was I like this?

He narrowed his eyes at me, but thank the goddess he decided to spare me any further embarrassment and drop the matter. If he'd insisted, I don't even know what I would have said. But knowing my big mouth, it would have been something like, hey, I know you have issues or something, but could you stop confusing me and messing with my head? Do you actually want me or not?

So yes, thank the goddess he dropped it.

"Um… someone's coming to see you today," he said, and my eyes widened. I mean, I didn't know anybody here except him and maybe Agatha, but that was it.

"Who?" I asked.

He slipped his hands into his pockets, his muscles straining against his tight shirt.

How could someone be this good-looking?

It wasn't fair at all.

"Your younger sister, I think her name is Chloe or something like that."

I shot out of bed. "Are you serious? Chloe is actually coming here?"

He gave me a look like I was the stupidest person he'd ever met. "Not fucking Santa Claus. What did you just hear me say?"

Rude.

I managed to rein in my excitement. "Thank you, Alpha."

He nodded stiffly. "Make sure you're ready when she arrives, and mind what you say to her when fucking talking."

I nodded, my throat suddenly went dry.

I could hear the underlying threat in his words, so I had to be mindful about running my mouth. But that shouldn't even be a problem.

Chloe and I had never been the closest of sisters. In fact, we barely got along because we were too different. My excitement only came from the fact that I'd soon see a familiar face.

Even if it had to be Chloe.

I quickly got ready and dressed in one of the many clothes provided for me. I slipped into a little yellow sundress and a pair of flat slippers.

There was a knock on my door and Alpha Ryan stepped in.

He stared at me for a moment, and I could feel the weight of his gaze. My body caught fire under it.

"Are you ready?" he asked in that deep voice, and I nodded. "Yes."

He took my arm and led me downstairs.

By the time we reached the bottom, I spotted bright blonde hair. Chloe.

"Chloe, hi—"

She pushed me aside and threw herself at Alpha Ryan like they'd known each other for years. "Hi, I'm Zaya's better sister, Chloe."

It was supposed to be a simple handshake, but Chloe held on to his hand like they were glued together.

Ryan gave her a charming smile, one that made my blood boil.

He had never smiled at me like that.

If she was what he wanted all along, he could have just chosen her.

Well, it seemed like my pettiness got the best of me, because I cleared my throat loudly.

They finally let go of each other's hands, and Alpha Ryan turned to me with concern in his eyes. "Are you alright?"

I shot him a smile that was meant to be sweet, but even my lips hurt from how fake it was.

"Oh, nothing's wrong. Just a little sore throat, that's all," I said.

He nodded. "I'll have Agatha get you a drink then."

"Thank you," I replied, my voice dripping with malice even though I tried to sound sweet.

Alpha Ryan clapped his hands. "You guys can catch up. I'll see you both later."

Once he left, Chloe turned and glared at me. "What is your problem, Zaya?"

I folded my arms. "No, Chloe, the real question is what are you doing here?" I countered.

"Well, Mum and Dad sent me here to check if you're still alive."

Great. They didn't even care enough. They just sent Chloe over so they wouldn't look as selfish as they were.

"Although," she added with a gleam in her eyes, "if I'd known he was going to be this good-looking, I would have gladly been the breeder for him."

That familiar anger surged, and I glared at her. "Why do you always do this, Chloe?"

She shrugged. "You don't deserve him, sister. I mean, he didn't even look twice at you, but he smiled at me with stars in his eyes."

"What you're trying to do won't work, Chloe," I said.

She shrugged again. "We'll see."
