Cherreads

Chapter 2 - Am I Even the Main Character?

The teacher looked at the noisy and excited students and raised her hand.

"Calm down and listen to me carefully. I am not finished yet."

All of them quieted instantly, waiting for their teacher to continue.

"I need to remind you that if you have already awakened naturally, you can just go home instead of attending it."

Fifi blinked and realized something.

"Wait a minute... I am a transmigrator. Could it be that I am already awakened?"

She straightened herself and closed her eyes for a second, trying to feel something.

"Hello? Hidden power? Cheat? System? Anything?"

But no matter how hard she focuses or how many she says, there's nothing.

Realizing that there was nothing, she opened her eyes and sighed, slumping slightly.

"Seriously? I didn't awaken naturally? Am I not the MC?"

Then she crossed her arms and lifted her chin a little, calming herself.

"Fine, as the MC, I'll just wait. Later I'll shock everyone during the ceremony."

She already imagined how spectacular she was when she awakened something good in the ceremony later on.

Her saliva almost dropped as she pictured it, but she was quickly awakened by the clapping sound of her teacher.

"Okay, that's all I'm telling you. We'll gather in the gymnasium after lunch."

With that, the teacher left the classroom, leaving the students to chat with themselves about the ceremony later on.

Fifi, on the other hand, was already feeling hungry, so she reached to her bag and pulled out her lunch.

When she opened it, her eyes widened in surprise.

"Sweets?"

There were neatly packaged pastries, little cookies, and colorful candy.

She stared at them for a few seconds before smirking.

"Oh ho... what a good body you are."

She nodded approvingly at herself.

"You have really excellent taste."

She popped a small cookie into her mouth and chewed happily.

And suddenly she froze, realizing something.

"Wait a minute... If I'm here, then what happened to the original owner of this body?"

Her smile faded slightly.

"Did she die and I replace her? How can she die then?"

She looked down at her hands again, and both memories from this body and her past life were clear.

It was like both of them were there, and suddenly she realized something.

"It could be that the earlier pain was not from this body memory but my past life memory."

She smiled, nodding approvingly as if she already accepted the fact.

"Yeah, it must be it. Basically... I'm still me. Nothing got replaced, just got fused... I think."

She paused and then waved her hand in the air like she pushed the problem away.

"You know what? Forget it."

She leaned back in her chair and let out a long sigh.

"It's too complicated for my brain. No matter what, it already happened, so for now let's enjoy it."

With that, she happily stuffed the last piece of pastry in her mouth.

And right at that moment... two girls suddenly appeared in front of her desk.

One had short hair with a blue tint, and her name was Liora.

The other had long green hair neatly tied back, and she was Zara.

Both of them were her friends in this world.

Liora crossed her arms and leaned forward, squinting at Fifi's lunchbox.

"Fifi... did you bring sweets again? Didn't you say that you wanted to go on a diet?"

Fifi froze mid-chew and began to search for it in her memory, and she did find that she said it.

But her past life self trained regularly just so she could eat more sweets without guilt.

So honestly? It didn't even matter whether she was dieting or not.

"Diet?"

Fifi swallowed her food and shook her head firmly.

"Of course not. If I diet... I won't be able to eat these lovely sweets."

Liopra gasped dramatically.

"So you want to become fat? You don't want to be beautiful anymore...?"

Fifi's eyebrows twitched upon hearing that. She slowly turned her head to Liora.

"Fat? Of course not. I train my body regularly, you know."

Liora raised her eyebrow, clearly not convinced. She had known Fifi for years now.

"You? Train? Please... don't you lie to me. I've never seen you exercise even once."

Fifi smiled sweetly.

"Oh... you don't believe me, huh? then let me show you it then."

She suddenly stood up and smiled.

"Come here."

Before Liora could react, Fifi grabbed her by the shoulders.

"Eh?"

Fifi directly and slightly smacked the top her head with her palm

BONK!

"OUCH! Why are you so strong?!"

Liora yelped as she tried to free herself from Fifi.

Fifi grinned as she released her.

"Hehe."

Liora stared at her in shock, rubbing her head.

"Since when do you have this kind of strength?!"

Fifi just shrugged casually and sat back down, continuing to eat her sweets.

Zara, who had been watching quietly the whole time, sighed.

"Calm down, both of you."

"I already did," Fifi replied cheerfully, licking a bit of cream off her finger.

Liora huffed, glaring at her. "You're really weird today."

Maybe I unlocked hidden power," Fifi teased, wiggling her fingers mysteriously.

Zara shook her head. "Enough of that. Let's focus and talk about the awakening ceremony now."

Fifi leaned back in her chair, smiling. "Yeah, yeah, let's talk about it."

She turned her head to Zara. "So? What do you want to talk about?"

Zara smiled, lowering her voice. "It's just girl talk. I just want to know... what kind of talent do you think you'll awaken?"

Liora immediately straightened up and smirked. "Obviously I'll awaken the best one."

Fifi raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what is that supposed to be?"

Liora crossed her arms and lifted her chin proudly . "A Dragon Strengthening Talent."

Zara and Fifi blinked in surprise.

Zara looked at Liora and sighed, trying to talk some sense to her. "Are you sure? Dragons are rare and really expensive."

Liora waved her hand dismissively. "It doesn't matter. I'll find one sooner or later."

Zara shook her head and sighed but still smiled faintly.

Then she turned to Fifi. "What about you?"

Fifi paused and tapped her fingers lightly against the desk. "Honestly, I don't know, and truthfully... anything is fine."

Inside her head, she added silently.

I can't just say I'm a transmigrator, and I'm sure I'll awaken something amazing, right...?

Zara looked at her for a moment and smiled. "I see. That does sound like you."

She folded her hands on her desk. "I think I'm the same. As long as it's useful, I'll be happy."

Fifi grinned, placing her hands on Zara's shoulder. "Exactly. Let's just see what kind of talent we awaken later and talk."

Both Liora and Zara nodded, already excited to see what kind of talents they would awaken later.
