Synopsis
This will be the story of the early years of the future Heroine of Ferelden—an elven mage gifted with remarkable arcane power—and her peculiar protector: a young templar destined for the Circle Tower of the Fereldan Circle of Magi. Both of them (along with a group of adventurers) will be forced to work beyond their differences when fate brings them to the ruins of the Old God of the Night, Lusacan, and reveals truths that the Seekers of Truth and the Chantry will not be willing to share… and a new Blight, whose first heartbeats are already pulsing upon the surface of Thedas.

Chapter 1 - Preface

Hi!

I wrote this story during the pandemic. I did it out of a need for catharsis that came from living through some of those moments we all went through back then—haha. During those months of lockdown, BioWare released a lot of Dragon Age material, and I think many of us were dreaming of a new installment that could fill all the structural gaps we had about the world of Thedas…

Well, it was during that time that I started giving shape to all the theories I'd been imagining, trying to predict at least something of what was to come (spoiler: I didn't predict much 😁).

This story is one of those early beginnings. Now that I'm writing the DAI books, it feels necessary to translate this part of the story into English for anyone who might want to read it.

It focuses on the early days of Cullen and the woman who will later become the Hero of Ferelden. This story is what helped me understand many things about Andrastianism and magic. I still haven't dared to write the DAO story (I love DAO—I think it's my favorite in the saga)… but since in The Last Rebellion I'm writing about the Blight, I inevitably came back to this fic and decided to translate it (as an excuse to reread it while I work on it).

It's not necessary to have read it in order to understand The Last Rebellion—it just expands the world a bit for anyone who's interested.

Because the characters in my story are the same as in this one (Cullen is the same Cullen), there will be one reference or another in The Last Rebellion. Nothing that requires this reading beforehand, but I do think it offers some interesting insight into our commander and helps us understand him psychologically as well.

So if anyone wants to read it—WELCOME to another one of my madnesses! 😄

DISCLAIMER: All recognizable characters, settings, mentions, realms, and related elements are the property of EA and BioWare. There will be original characters, but the story is primarily based on the world created by EA and BioWare. I have no affiliation with the owners, creators, or producers of the copyrighted material. No copyright infringement is intended.

For the translation, I used Google Translate and OpenAI. I am a Spanish speaker, and although I understand and speak English, I do not consider my skills sufficient to produce a fully polished translation on my own. I reread all chapters before posting and edit them according to the tone and language I want to maintain, so that they remain consistent with my intention as a writer and with Dragon Age lore.

That said, if the use of AI-assisted translation bothers anyone, this is the moment to stop reading or to switch to the original Spanish version, which is also available.
