Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Hidden Dangers of Chakra — The Current State of the Pokémon World

"Congratulations on successfully awakening your psychic power! How does it feel?"

Sabrina congratulated him through telepathy, her voice unusually cheerful.

"Great. I've never felt better."

Yunqing smiled as he replied. His eyes were filled with gratitude as he looked at Sabrina.

Needless to say, he understood how invaluable the meditation method, the insights, and the experience Sabrina had just given him truly were.

This kind of inheritance was extremely rare even in the Pokémon World.

Yunqing suspected that even Sabrina's parents might not have received such a complete and high-level transmission.

Of course, it wasn't necessarily because Sabrina was stingy toward her family. Rather, to receive this kind of spiritual inheritance, the recipient needed sufficient psychic talent.

Yet Sabrina had given everything to him without hesitation, despite meeting him for the first time.

It was hard to tell whether she was naive…

Or whether it was her trust and high regard for him.

Either way, Yunqing owed her an enormous favor.

"I owe you a huge favor this time. I'll find a way to repay you in the future."

Yunqing looked at Sabrina seriously and made his promise.

He was a man with clear principles. He always distinguished between gratitude and resentment.

"I treat you sincerely, and you repay me sincerely. That's enough."

"I don't care about repayment. I gave it willingly."

Sabrina shook her head slightly and replied through telepathy.

To her, willingness was priceless.

Although she said it calmly, Yunqing could still sense from the subtle changes in her eyes and tone that she was a little excited.

After all, no one wanted to help someone who turned out to be ungrateful.

Sabrina's emotions had been suppressed throughout her childhood and adolescence due to her overwhelming psychic power.

Even in recent years, after she gradually gained full control and regained her emotions, she still habitually maintained a cold, expressionless face.

But that didn't mean she lacked emotions.

On the contrary, her inner feelings were more intense and sensitive than most people's.

"It's your choice to give, but that doesn't mean I can accept it without guilt."

Yunqing chuckled and shook his head. After thinking for a moment, he continued.

"Logically, I should teach you chakra refinement methods and the ninjutsu I currently know."

"But chakra is special. It was passed down to humanity by the Sage of Six Paths more than a thousand years ago."

"Right now, I don't have a way to transfer chakra to someone who doesn't already possess it."

"And without chakra, ninjutsu is basically useless."

"So I can only teach you after I research a method."

Of course, before that, he needed to find a way to eliminate any hidden mechanisms that might exist within chakra itself.

If the Sage of Six Paths—or even Kaguya—had left behind some kind of control or restriction, Yunqing wouldn't be surprised at all.

With his current strength and chakra control, he couldn't detect such things.

But recalling the original story, Yunqing felt there was a high chance something was wrong.

Otherwise, how could the Sage of Six Paths summon the souls of powerful shinobi so easily during the Fourth Shinobi World War?

And how could Kaguya absorb the chakra of the entire shinobi world so effortlessly?

The source of power was also the source of control.

"Hm. Either way is fine."

Sabrina nodded lightly, showing no concern.

To her, psychic powers and Pokémon contracts were already enough to study and cultivate for a lifetime.

Yunqing smiled. His mood relaxed.

He rubbed his still slightly throbbing temples and joked with her.

"By the way… weren't you afraid I couldn't handle you stuffing so much information into my brain all at once and would just explode?"

This was something no ordinary person could endure.

Sabrina shook her head calmly.

"I know what I'm doing. You can handle it."

Psychic users never lacked memory or comprehension.

The stronger the psychic power, the stronger the mind.

That was why psychic-type Pokémon and espers were naturally intelligent.

Sabrina was no exception.

Her actions had seemed reckless, but in reality, they were completely within her calculations.

"Alright."

Yunqing shook his head helplessly. Being trusted like this made him both amused and exasperated.

"By the way, can you tell me about the current situation in your world? I want to understand it better."

He quickly changed the subject.

Understanding the Pokémon World's current state was crucial for his next plans.

"Sure."

Sabrina didn't refuse. She immediately explained everything to Yunqing as concisely as possible.

Half a year ago, after confirming that the merging of worlds was irreversible, Arceus modified the rules of the Pokémon World and created the Pokémon Contract System.

He also gifted all humans with:

basic meditation methods

methods to condense Pokémon contract imprints

methods to create Pokémon contract spaces

This allowed the people of the Pokémon World to strengthen themselves in advance, compensate for the weakness of ordinary trainers, and prepare for the chaos that would come with the fusion of realms.

Now, after half a year of training, many trainers had already grown significantly under the new rules and successfully formed contracts with several Pokémon.

Of course, because of differences in trainer talent, Pokémon aptitude, levels, and friendship values, the speed of growth varied greatly.

For non-psychic humans, meditation was mostly ineffective before forming their first contract.

It was almost impossible for them to actively increase mental strength through meditation alone, even with special items, calming aromatherapy, or stimulants.

The only way to grow stronger was through passive mental resonance with Pokémon as they trained and battled.

The better the trainer's talent…

The deeper their bond with their Pokémon…

The higher the Pokémon's aptitude…

The stronger their affinity…

And the higher the Pokémon's level…

Then the stronger the resonance effect, and the faster mental strength would grow.

This effect applied both before and after forming a contract.

In the Pokémon World, this resonance was known as the Power of Bond.

Only after someone's mental strength reached the minimum requirement to form a contract—and they successfully formed their first Pokémon contract—could their strength begin to rise rapidly.

Through the contract feedback, their mental strength, physical strength, and even spiritual power would increase quickly.

They could then open a Pokémon Contract Space to house their contracted Pokémon.

Once a trainer gained the ability to form additional Pokémon contracts, their growth would begin to snowball.

The more Pokémon they contracted, the stronger the feedback.

Their strength increased exponentially.

At the same time, as trainers continuously received feedback from contracted Pokémon, their meditation aptitude would also improve, increasing the efficiency of future meditation.

Among all Pokémon, contracted psychic-type Pokémon were especially effective at enhancing mental talent.

Furthermore, Sabrina emphasized that it was best for a trainer's first contracted Pokémon to be an egg.

That way, there were fewer level restrictions, the initial friendship value was higher, and affinity growth afterward would be far smoother.

"So Pokémon egg shops must be booming right now, huh?"

After hearing this, Yunqing immediately thought of the system's detection function. His eyes lit up as he stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"Hm?"

Sabrina paused slightly, then nodded.

"That's right. In the last six months, many Pokémon egg shops have appeared across the League's regions and major cities."

"The League even supports it."

"Even in large cities, there are League-affiliated Pokémon egg shops."

"Are you interested in that?"
