"Summoning!" He called aloud. A portal behind him glowed and in his hand appeared a card slightly larger than that of a playing card.

Pictured on the back was the Hemisphere symbol and on the front was....

Another oversized mallet. He put it to the side with the other three and tried again.

"You would think with all the people here the luck and mana in the area would be greater and I'd be getting more than just SR cards." He grumbled concentrating on his ability.

"Summoning!" He stated holding his hand aloft.

This time he pulled a single SSR card.

The new card glittered still and seemed marginally larger than the previous ones. Depicted on it was a woman that very closely looked like an oversized owl. Her feathers being brown in color and her eyes a twilight blue and framed by circular glasses.

He stopped reading and disabled his Spectacle of Guidance, the monocle disappearing from his face.

"Oh great four hours of pulling for a card and my first SSR of the last two weeks is a SSR that is basically a support and doesn't deal any high attack damage."

His attention turned to the person approaching in red and dull grey armor.

"Your name is Noah Hemisphere right? your gacha skill is pretty useful," the guy said causing Noah to look up. Immediately he traded his deer in headlights expression for one of interest, for about five seconds.

"Yeah my name is Noah, what's yours?" He asked innocently enough.

"So I bet you could summon something like a magical sword that kills monsters in one swing and makes cool explosions right?"

He faltered. "Uh-- no not unless the situation absolutely calls for it" he explained.

'Where do they get these outlandish summons from? It's always something unreasonable and high level no one would pull on the first try without maxed out luck.'

'And according to ARMY this guy has worse luck than me!' He thought dismissing his Spectacle of Guidance.

His system, ARMY disagreed with the guy's attempt at flattery.

Noah shut his mouth. 'Message received' he thought gloomily. In the back a few dozen feet away he could see a few other guys likely members of the guild hanging back already preparing to laugh. Or fight given they had their weapons out.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" The teen continued.

"I'm being polite and talking to you since you're obviously here to get recruited. You could at least answer the question."

[This character is inflicting Taunt debuff,] ARMY insisted in response. Noah gathered up the four wands he summoned, 'yeah I figured he wasn't serious, when recruiting all guild members are required to be present so everyone gets a chance to say 'no''. He wanted to facepalm.

"I know! He's trying to bully me I got it." Noah whined at the third reminder.

"Whoa who are you talking to with those accusations? We're having a nice conversation?" The teenager tried again.

"No we weren't, you immediately started off trying to demand things." Noah refuted.

"If you want things from my Gacha, don't open a conversation trying to pick a fight," he snapped.

"Pretty bold talk from someone getting invited to no guilds," the guy sneered.

"How did your guild recruitment go?" A maid asked.

"Abysmal " Noah replied slumping ungraciously in a chair.

"I can't wait for grandfather's commentary about the Hemisphere clan being the only member of the ten families not in a guild being a influence to the world."

"I'm sure someone will invite you," she assured. Though she admitted she was worried too, it had been eight months.

"Yeah when my Gacha pulls a legendary item," he grumbled, throwing down all the wooden stick wands on a desk.

"Young master, I know it is a bleak situation but try to be hopeful. Optimism will help you," the maid encouraged.

"Last meeting he even brought up how the heir of the Draconia family, known for not having magic even with his connections to the Fae- got in a guild!"

"That just means there's hope for you," the maid supplied with a hum.

"No one wants a member with two useless skills, Everglade," he groaned as she cheerily turned on several soft lamps. 'Ill be dead weight' he lamented.

"Your gacha will pull something amazing, just keep at it," she encouraged.

He frowned

"What about starting your own guild?" She tried.

"You know why I can't start a guild," he sighed.

Her face fell slightly. But she brightened up after a moment. "I believe you can handle it,"

"Maybe one more attempt... " He remarked beginning to get his things and sneak downstairs.

"I'll go to the recruitment office and -" he ran smack into Grand elder Steele Hemisphere.

He swallowed nervously.

"G-good evening Grand elder," he squeaked trying to be polite.

"Going out to get after dinner snacks?" The old man questioned.

"Yes," he said a little too quickly to cling to the lie.

"The clans status is riding on you. You're expected to uphold your position and do your part for the family. Especially if you intend to keep enjoying the privilege of after dinner snacks,"

His heart raced as the anxiety from the threat kicked in.

"If course! Grand Elder! He insisted, trying to ignore ARMY's input.

[ This character is inflicting provoke buff] it chimed helpfully in his mind.

[Use the Taunt debuff to counter this buff's effects and avoid triggering a battle]

"I'm working really hard on fulfilling my responsibilities to the clan," he said seriously.

"Hard work is commendable. Work harder in the future," the old man sniffed.

"Of course!" He exclaimed. He nodded enthusiastically. Just for additional points.

The man narrowed his eyes but whatever he thought he either didn't want to be wrong or simply dismissed it. Supported by the fact the ARMY system didn't tell him anything further.

The old man walked on, presumably returning from his walk on the estate and back to his room.

Carefully Noah cracked open the door to one of the rooms of treasures and heirlooms.

'Since they were planning on entrusting me with this relic anyway, I'll borrow it for my trip and store it in my smaller Gacha so it's easier to keep track of,' he thought, mentally imagining himself store it in a gumball machine like device.

"I'm all set to leave -" he stopped momentarily entranced by the glowing light of the crystal known as the Fragment of Splendor.

It was certainly powerful but he wasn't stupid enough to take that with him. He placed a

Nervous, he clasped his hands together.

"Please Sacred Relic of Splendor, I know that stealing this item is wrong but I require it to earn my rightful status as a member of this family! Let me have the chance to prove myself and grant me your protection!"

Nothing immediately happened which he took as a good sign he wouldn't get blasted to death. "My prayer ends with eternal gratitude," he finished.

Quietly he slipped out of the chamber and ran to the courtyard, fleeing the Hemisphere estate. Once he'd left the bounds of the property the Fragment of Splendor glowed brighter and sent a wave of energy expanding from the Hemisphere estate.

"I'll prove to everyone that I can also seemlessly go out and experience the world just like the other families!" He vowed.
