In an instant, Su Qiu was already right in front of the gloomy youth.

At the age of nine, most soul masters relied almost entirely on soul skills in battle. Once their soul power ran out and they could no longer use their skills, they were basically helpless, with almost no understanding of physical combat.

Part of it was a limitation of mindset, too much dependence on soul skills. Another factor was physical: they were still too young, their bodies not yet fully developed, making it difficult to fully utilize martial techniques.

Only someone like Su Qiu, whose Holy Sword physique combined with his Instinct ability, could wield any form of close combat effortlessly.

At this moment, Su Qiu's speed startled the gloomy youth. He wanted to react, but his limbs couldn't keep up with his thoughts, moving in a chaotic, uncoordinated manner.

His fist swung toward Su Qiu's face like a headless fly.

Su Qiu didn't move his feet. He merely tilted his head slightly, letting the punch brush past, then stepped half a step forward, slipping neatly into the other's guard.

The opponent's other hand lashed out wildly, but before it could connect, Su Qiu applied a subtle force, throwing off his balance and leaving his defenses wide open.

Su Qiu didn't seize the moment to punch. Instead, he gently raised his elbow and pressed it lightly against the youth's chest, not with force, but just enough to disrupt his breathing rhythm.

If he had applied real strength, the strike alone could have seriously injured the opponent. Su Qiu chose not to; the youth's actions didn't warrant such severity.

The gloomy youth groaned. All his movements instantly weakened, and he staggered back several steps. He had never experienced combat like this before. Only after catching his breath did he remember to use his soul skill.

His first spirit ring flashed, and his figure suddenly turned illusory, surrounded by a series of afterimages that made it difficult to distinguish real from fake.

"Not bad, but unfortunately, you ran into me."

Shaking his head, Su Qiu relied on instinct, casually reaching out and accurately grabbing the youth's true body before flipping him sideways and slamming him to the ground.

"What's your name?" Su Qiu asked, pinning him down.

The youth didn't answer. Instead, he asked fiercely, "How did you see through it?"

At the same time, his eyes flicked toward Su Qiu's back, where a small green snake, his soul spirit, was positioned.

The snake was emerald in color, with a pair of translucent green wings on its back. Though small, it emitted a powerful aura.

Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi, who were watching nearby, had just begun to shout a warning when the little snake shot forward like a bolt of lightning, rushing straight toward Su Qiu.

"Ha!" The gloomy youth's triumphant laugh froze halfway.

Guided by instinct, Su Qiu didn't even turn his head. He reached back casually and grabbed the snake in one hand, then calmly asked again, "Name?"

"W-We… Wei Xiaofeng," the youth stammered, eyes wide in disbelief.

"Wei Xiaofeng, right? Let's leave it at that. We're all roommates. Get along properly from now on, understand?"

Patting Wei Xiaofeng's already swelling cheek, Su Qiu decided to end the matter there.

The fight had ended so quickly that it hadn't even drawn attention. No teacher had come rushing over, otherwise, they would have been sent back to the administrative office again.

"O-Okay."

Meeting those calm, sacred teal eyes, Wei Xiaofeng felt a chill rise in his heart.

Although he still hadn't used his second soul skill, he knew after reviewing the entire fight that it would have made no difference.

The opponent hadn't even used his martial soul.

This person in front of him was a true monster.

Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi stared in stunned silence. Running the scenario through their minds, they realized that even if they had replaced Wei Xiaofeng in the fight, the result would have been the same.

When they looked at Su Qiu again, their gazes had clearly changed, there was now the respect reserved for the strong.

Afterward, Wei Xiaofeng slumped in his chair, staring blankly ahead, almost drooling. He was questioning his entire life.

The praises from family and friends that once filled him with pride now echoed in his mind like painful mockery.

Was I really a genius?

Meanwhile, as Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi chatted with Su Qiu, they unconsciously lowered their own attitudes.

Their martial souls were already suppressed by Su Qiu's presence; in an actual fight, they would only lose even more miserably.

Now the dormitory was peaceful and harmonious. Everyone got along perfectly.

Truly something to celebrate.

Time passed, and soon the registration period for new students ended. The next day was the opening ceremony.

The ceremony was held in the enormous plaza of Eastsea Academy. Only at this time each year did the senior division students and the intermediate division students gather together; normally, they rarely saw one another.

On the intermediate division side, each grade had roughly a hundred students, totaling six grades.

The senior division, however, was entirely different, there were not even two hundred students in total.

"Hello, students. Today is our annual opening ceremony. Next, please welcome President Yu to deliver a speech. Let's give him a warm round of applause!"

Amid enthusiastic applause, President Yu slowly walked onto the stage. He was an elderly man with graying hair, glasses, and a scholarly aura.

"Hello, students. At this time every year, I feel a sense of reflection.

"Some students graduate and step toward their futures, while new students arrive at Eastsea Academy."

The president's speech was passionate and inspiring.

Su Qiu listened attentively at first, but before long he began to grow drowsy and drift off.

He couldn't help it, it was an old habit.

Fifteen minutes later, the president concluded his speech. The most important segment followed: class assignments.

The new students nearby began to stir, and only then did Su Qiu snap back to attention, somewhat surprised.

This president was pretty good, he wrapped things up after only a little more than ten minutes.

Students left the field in sequence. Only the first-year students of the intermediate division remained, while the new students of the senior division returned to their own area for their class assignments.

The assignment process was completely transparent. The academy had a clear understanding of each student's records, soul power, martial soul, personal files, and more, and classes were arranged accordingly in ranked order.

Class One was the best, Class Five the weakest.

Su Qiu didn't care much about that. Instead, he was already thinking about his upcoming opponent in Class Five.

By "opponent," he didn't mean the other new students, but Wu Zhangkong.

Wu Zhangkong could be considered a true genius. In the original story, even after losing much of his golden cultivation years, he still achieved remarkable accomplishments.

None of Su Qiu's peers could really challenge him, while Su Wuyan was far too strong and frequently fought without restraint, training with him was simply suffering.

Fighting someone like Wu Zhangkong, a genius of the previous generation, would be truly exhilarating.

"Finally, the list for Class Five…" The teacher on stage began calling out names one by one.

Standing together, Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi were already stunned when they heard Su Qiu's name listed under Class Five.

The most shocked, however, was Wei Xiaofeng. Recalling their earlier fight, he could still feel faint aches across his body.

Su Qiu's overwhelming pressure had left him utterly despairing.

Now they were saying Wei Xiaofeng was in Class One while Su Qiu was in Class Five?

Am I even worthy?

At that moment, Wei Xiaofeng suddenly wondered whether the teacher had made a mistake, perhaps Class Five was actually the best class?

"Don't look so surprised. I volunteered for it. You'll understand why later," Su Qiu explained casually when he saw his roommates' disbelief.

He couldn't exactly say that he was going there to fight the Class Five teacher.

No one would believe him anyway.

After the teacher finished calling the names, the new students on the field dispersed according to their assigned classes.
