A microphone was shoved inches from Aarohi's face.
Her heart slammed wildly. "No—there's been a misunderstanding—"
A strong hand closed around hers.
She gasped as the man pulled her closer, his arm settling around her waist with shocking familiarity.
"This is Aarohi," he said smoothly. "My fiancée."
The world tilted.
"What?!" she whispered, horrified.
"Smile," he murmured under his breath. "Now."
A ring appeared in his other hand.
Before she could protest, he slid it onto her finger.
Gasps filled the hall.
Applause followed.
Aarohi felt sick.
Flashes blinded her as his lips curved into a perfect public smile—one that never reached his eyes.
"This engagement is recent," he continued. "We wanted to keep it private."
Private?
He had just announced it to half the corporate world.
When the reporters finally moved on, Aarohi shoved his hand away.
"Are you insane?" she hissed. "You can't just—"
"Lower your voice," he said coolly. "You're still being watched."
"I'm not your fiancée!"
"You are," he replied, eyes cold, "for now."
