Chapter 2 - Chapter one

In a grand Vardhan mansion in Mumbai, within a beautifully decorated room, a charming 27-year-old woman slept. She was the sole daughter of the owner of VARDHAN CORPORATIONS, one of the top companies. Her hands were curled around the sheet, her forehead damp with sweat, and deep lines of stress were visible as her eyebrows furrowed. Her head thrashed from side to side on the bed as she whispered in her sleep, "No... no... nonono... Mom, Adii... I... I... I'm not a murderer... I'm not a murderer... no, I didn't kill him." Hot tears streamed from her eyes as she suddenly sat upright in bed, wide-eyed. She found it hard to breathe, and the room felt suffocating. Her trembling hands moved to wipe away the sweat that covered her. She then checked the time; her clock showed it was barely 4 in the morning.

ARUNDHITA'S POV

I immediately went to the washroom to wash away the uneasy feeling from the terrible nightmare. I splashed water on my face, but as my eyes closed, the nightmare replayed itself.

NIGHTMARE

Adult Arundhita stood in a dark room, her hands stained red with blood. She shook her head as her mother and her love accused her.

"Arundhita, you're so selfish. I left you because you don't deserve love; you only deserve pain."

"No, I'm not selfish, Mom, I love you, Mom!"

"You deserve it, Arundhita, because you left me, you broke my heart, and now you killed someone."

"No! NOOOO! I didn't, I didn't!"

"Yes, you did, and now you're a murderer."

"No, I'm not a murderer... NOO!"

They both circled her, calling her a murderer.

My eyes welled up, and I started crying miserably, leaning against the wall. The tears wouldn't stop. After crying for half an hour, I decided to freshen up.

ON THE OTHER HAND, IN RATHORE MANSION

A 29-year-old man stood, clad only in his trousers, revealing a well-built body with abs. His huge, powerful physique displayed many scars on his back, evidence of years of struggle and how cruel the world could be, turning an innocent man into nothing but a heartless beast.

His face was contorted with anger and disappointment. He pounded the punching bag as his mind replayed a conversation he'd had earlier.

ON THE CALL

"Sir, we found the killer of the witness..." came a scared voice from the other end.

"Who the f**k dared to do so?" Aditraj roared.

"Sir, I checked it twice. I found the footage and sent it to you. It was a girl, Arundhita Vardhan, the daughter of Manish Vardhan."

As I heard her name, the ground felt like it slipped beneath my feet. My heart refused to accept that she could do such a thing. To comfort myself, assuming the man might be lying, I opened the video—only to witness the most horrifying scene. Arundhita held the gun in her hand and shot the man.

Blood rushed through my veins, and they began to pop out from anger. My eyes were bloodshot as the flashback played in my mind.

FLASHBACK

A teenage boy, probably in 11th grade, came running towards Arundhita. She looked at him and asked, "What's wrong, Abinav? Why are you running around?" The boy slowly whispered, catching his breath, "Arundhita, Aditya messed up with some seniors; they're beating him." Hearing this, fear for Aditya's safety made her sprint towards the college canteen. When she arrived, she saw Aditya sitting at a table with many bruises on his face, hands, and legs. She moved towards the injured Adityraj, her worried and fearful eyes meeting Aditya's, which brightened upon seeing her. She asked him, "What happened, Adii? Is it hurting a lot? Are you injured anywhere else? Should I call someone to bring a stretcher?"

Adityraj chuckled slightly, seeing her worry. "Take a break, my Chennai Express, I'm fine, just a bit injured. Let's go to the medical room and get some bandages."

With that, Arundhita took his arm over her shoulder, supporting him as they walked towards the medical room. When they arrived, she began to treat his wounds, tears welling in her eyes. She kept avoiding his gaze, but he deliberately watched her every action and expression. After bandaging him, she sat beside him at a safe distance. He took her hand in his palm and said, "Why are you crying, Aruu? See, I'm alright. Please don't cry." She looked up at him as tears slipped down her cheeks. "Please don't ever get into such fights," she said. "I don't want you to get hurt in any way." More tears fell as she spoke. His heart clenched at the sight of her tears.

PRESENT

A flood of anger surged through me, and thoughts tore my heart into pieces. I used to love her, even after her deliberate denial, I kept loving her. The special place she held in my heart is now replaced by pure anger. "ARUNDHITA VARDHAN, I'll MAKE SURE YOU REGRET EACH SECOND OF YOUR LIFE!" I declared, breaking everything in my path.
