Chapter 1 - The Lighthouse That Never Slept.

The Lighthouse That Never Slept

On the edge of a quiet seaside town stood an old lighthouse. The townspeople called it "The Watcher," because no matter how fierce the storm, its light never failed.

The lighthouse keeper was a young woman named Elara. Unlike the other villagers, she wasn't afraid of the sea. While others heard thunder and saw danger, Elara heard music in the crashing waves. She believed the ocean had a heart — wild, but not cruel.

One winter night, the fiercest storm in fifty years struck the coast. Boats were still out at sea. The wind howled like a wounded wolf, and rain lashed against the glass tower.

Suddenly, the lighthouse light flickered.

Elara's heart pounded.

If the light went out, ships would crash into the rocks.

She rushed up the spiral stairs. The mechanism was damaged. The storm had shaken the system loose. Fixing it meant climbing outside the railing, high above the roaring ocean.

Fear whispered, "Stay inside."

Courage whispered, "They are counting on you."

Elara stepped out.

The wind pushed against her like an invisible giant. The sea roared below, hungry and wild. With trembling hands, she tightened the bolts, her fingers numb from cold.

For one terrible second, the light went dark.

Out at sea, a ship captain held his breath.

Then—

The beam burst back to life, cutting through the storm like a sword of hope.

By morning, the storm had passed. The ships were safe.

The townspeople gathered below the lighthouse, cheering. But Elara didn't want applause. She simply smiled at the ocean.

The lighthouse had not slept.

And neither had courage.
