Chapter 33 - Chapter 33

Her skill relied on the softness and toughness of her body to maximize her strength.

The biggest flaw of this skill was that it was easily countered by superior power, but only when the opponent's strength far exceeded hers. Otherwise, even if their strength was slightly greater, they would still suffer defeat under this move.

But she had underestimated Jiang Chen. Even without transforming or using his martial soul, with the strength of his physical body enhanced by the soul power within him, his power was beyond what Xiao Wu could imagine.

Xiao Wu had her legs wrapped around Jiang Chen's neck, her hands braced against the ground, using every ounce of strength she had, yet she couldn't throw him off.

At this moment, Jiang Chen felt like a towering mountain. How could a little rabbit like her possibly fling a mountain away?

Xiao Wu's small face turned bright red from exertion, but Jiang Chen just stood there without budging an inch.

After a moment, Xiao Wu finally gave up. Her legs loosened, and she flipped down.

"Are you even human?!" Xiao Wu glared at Jiang Chen with a flushed face. It was too humiliating; she was the boss of the dorm, yet she had lost face in front of all her underlings.

Jiang Chen turned back and smiled at her. "Nice waist, and your butt has good bounce, but your strength is just a bit lacking."

"You… bastard!" Xiao Wu had never been teased like this before. She immediately puffed up with anger, wishing she could tear Jiang Chen apart.

But even her strongest move had failed to do anything to him. Thinking of this, she felt both angry and anxious.

Jiang Chen ignored Xiao Wu after that. He found a bed at the very end, put down his things.

There were plenty of beds in the dorm, and the others basically slept toward the front, while he chose the farthest one at the back, separated quite far from everyone else.

Just like in Saint Spirit Village, he couldn't possibly mix with these kids, so it was better to sleep at the back for some peace and quiet.

As soon as he lay down on the bed, Xiao Wu suddenly came over. "Hey, now you're the boss of our dorm."

Seeing Xiao Wu's puffed-up, extremely unwilling expression, Jiang Chen immediately laughed. "You didn't defeat me earlier, and I didn't defeat you either—we're even. Besides, I don't like being the boss, so you're still the boss."

"Really?" Xiao Wu, who had just been sulking, suddenly lit up with surprise.

"Really. Go on back, Boss." Jiang Chen waved his hand.

Just then, another person walked into the dorm; it was Tang San, who had just returned from Grandmaster's place.

As soon as he entered, he saw Jiang Chen and Xiao Wu inside.

"Jiang Chen, you're here." Tang San quickly walked over.

"Mm, just arrived."

"You two know each other?" Xiao Wu asked in surprise.

Tang San nodded. "Yeah, we're from the same village."

Then, Tang San took out a paper package from his body and handed it to Jiang Chen. "This is for you."

"What's this?" Jiang Chen curiously took it and opened the package.

To his surprise, inside was a chicken leg.

"This is what the teacher gave me. I saved one for you," Tang San said.

Jiang Chen felt a little moved. He didn't say anything, just reached behind and took out a large paper box, handing it to Tang San.

"What's this?" Tang San took out the contents, and immediately a rich, fragrant aroma filled the air—it was a huge roasted goose.

"I went out to eat at noon and brought this back for you," Jiang Chen said calmly.

Tang San stared blankly at the roasted goose, a strange light flickering in his eyes, his heart far from calm.

Jiang Chen didn't stand on ceremony. He grabbed the chicken leg and started eating.

"What are you spacing out for? Hurry up and eat. If you can't finish it, you can share it with the others," Jiang Chen urged.

Tang San nodded. There was no way he could finish such a big goose by himself, so he took it to the front.

Xiao Wu secretly glanced at Jiang Chen, licked her lips, and quickly followed after Tang San…

A moment later, from the front of the dorm came nonstop sounds of "It's so good!"

"Jiang Chen, thanks for the goose." People kept shouting at him.

Jiang Chen just smiled and nodded.

In less than ten minutes, the entire goose had been devoured by the group of kids. Everyone's gaze toward Jiang Chen now carried obvious goodwill.

A while later, Tang San walked over. "I'm going out tomorrow. The teacher is taking me to obtain my first soul ring."

"Mm." Jiang Chen squinted his eyes and gave a faint response.

"So, for the next few days, the work-study student duties will be up to you and Xiao Wu. I've already told Xiao Wu," Tang San said a bit embarrassedly.

"Go without worry. Leave it to me." Jiang Chen yawned. "I'm going to sleep."

Tang San looked at Jiang Chen, somewhat speechless. It was only the afternoon, still several hours until night, and he was going to sleep already?

He didn't disturb Jiang Chen any further and went back to his own bed to lie down.

In the evening, Jiang Chen woke up on time. The others in the dorm had already started meditating to cultivate their soul power.

Tang San was eating some coarse buns he had brought from home. Jiang Chen had some in his bundle too, so he took two out, eating them as he walked out of the dorm.

It was getting dark, and he needed to find a place to cultivate.

After all, his cultivation was a bit special, and he didn't like being seen by others.

He wandered around the academy once and finally came to that small grove. It was the quietest and most secluded place in the entire college, and few people came here usually.

After searching in the woods for a bit, he bent his legs slightly and leaped onto a large tree, sitting cross-legged on a thick branch.

From here, he could see the moon in the sky without any obstruction.

Actually, he could cultivate in the room too, but there was always a sense of blockage that made him uncomfortable. He liked being unrestrained, unobstructed, basking in the warm moonlight.

The next morning, Jiang Chen returned to the dorm and found that Tang San had already left.

Today was Notting Academy's opening ceremony. He didn't run around randomly. After the ceremony ended, he came back to the grove and began cultivating Lightning Fist and Three Thousand Thunders Movement.

He could now basically control Lightning Fist without frequently falling flat on his face. When unleashed, its power was immense, comparable to the strength of one punch in his first soul skill state.

Moreover, when using it, faint electric arcs appeared, and these arcs actually came from the corpse core in his body, seemingly carrying a paralyzing effect.

As for the variations in Three Thousand Thunders Movement, he was becoming more and more proficient, but he still hadn't gained any insight into the speed aspect, which frustrated him quite a bit.

Although he possessed the ten-thousand-year memories of a zombie, they weren't of much use. That zombie's cultivation method was completely different from his—it mainly relied on sucking blood.

Moreover, after that zombie reached a high level of cultivation, it naturally developed some terrifying divine abilities, which came as instincts. Jiang Chen couldn't possibly learn them.

So aside from his soul skills, his greatest assets right now were Lightning Fist and Three Thousand Thunders Movement.

"Jing Wuming, that kid isn't in the academy right now. He should be monitoring that Ma Xiunuo guy." Jiang Chen looked in one direction. He could sense Jing Wuming there, it was the direction of the Spirit Hall.

Suddenly, a small black sparrow flew over and landed on Jiang Chen's shoulder.

This was a low-level corpse puppet. It had no soul left, only instinct. Jiang Chen could see everything around through its eyes.

"Go."

The small black sparrow flew toward the Spirit Hall. Jiang Chen also wanted to see what that old man Ma Xiunuo was up to.
