Chapter 5: The CEO's card
Analyzing the situation, the guardians prepared to attack, their movements tense and synchronized. They didn't need so much as a warning, it's like their instincts pushed them to move, one thing clear, I was a threat,a criminal that needed to be taken down. Robot was leading the charge. He released a laser beam locked directly on my chest.
I didn't even bulge one millimeter.
Before the beam could reach me, Battle Beast intervened — his massive frame cutting through the light as he swung his mace with monstrous precision, redirecting the beam into a wall. The blast scattered debris across the room.
"Leave this to me," he growled, his tone low and guttural. He had already recovered from the injuries I had inflicted on him earlier although not completely.
"I'm gonna enjoy crushing these insects," Battle Beast inquired, licking the corners of his mouth as if already tasting their blood.
In a single powerful stride, he closed the distance between himself and Robot. His mace came swinging down, ready to crush him — but Monster Girl darted in, intercepting the blow. Her claws and muscle strained against the force of the strike, defending Robot.
Even Battle Beast paused, slightly amazed by her resilience.
"Impressive," he roared, "but for a mere child."
With one brutal motion, Battle Beast caught Monster Girl by the face. His grip tightened as he flipped her over, tossing her across the room like a rag doll. She crashed into the floor, sliding to a halt.
Duplicate and Black Samson rushed in next. Duplicate moved first, delivering fast kicks and evasion attacks from multiple angles — yet every strike landed with zero effect. Battle Beast stood unmoved like a wall, each impact meaningless.
Black Samson followed, his punch snapping forward with full force — but Battle Beast caught it effortlessly. He twisted his massive hand, flipping Black Samson's wrist, and with a sharp crack, broke his arm.
While shrinking rae transformed back to her original form, in the hopes of catching Battle Beast off guard but the lion's senses were keen, picking up not only on her scent but also her movement, he knocked her out with the back of his hand slamming her face on the wall.
While the chaos unfolded, Rex — pretending to be the clever one decided to attack me instead.
"From the looks of things, you are the big boss around here," he shouted, charging the small orbs on his palms, "so how about you eat some of this and tell me how they taste, deep shit!"
He threw a barrage of exploding balls charged with kinetic energy, each one detonating on impact.
However such futile explosions were harmless to my body. When the smoke cleared, he was shocked to find not even one had put a dent on me.
"What the fuck are you made of?" Rex said, looking at me in awe and shock.
Before I could reply, Battle Beast's voice echoed from behind him.
"You won't slip past me again, insect."
Rex spun around just in time to see Battle Beast crush one of Duplicate's clone's head. He let go of it's body, crushing it on the bloody floor where multiple dead clones laid. His focus was dead sharp at Rex. He gripped his mace tightly then charged at him.
The mace came swinging in a wide arc ready to crush him in one swing but just as it was about to connect, a figure came flying in, slamming into Battle Beast and pushing him to the wall with a violent suplex.
It was Invincible.
Even though he was injured, battered, and bleeding, he couldn't just stand by and watch his friends be turned into minced meat.
Rex froze, realizing for a second how close he came to dying. He had felt the aura of death crawl up his spine at that moment, the chill of it still stuck to his bones, he was sure he pissed his pants.Realizing that if it weren't for Invincible, he would already be a goner.
"Damn! Have gotta stop holding a grudge against him for wanting to fuck my girlfriend," Rex muttered under his breath in relief. Staring at the wall where Invincible slammed Battle beast. But Battle Beast retaliated, grabbing Invincible and flipping him back sending him slamming hard onto poor Rex.
The humanoid lion then emerged from the ruble of the wall, "It seems you didn't learn, Viltrumite," Battle Beast said, his voice laced with rage. "While this time, I won't hold back."
His eyes glowed with a killing intent that filled the room.
I stood at the sidelines, simply watching the fight unfold. The sound of metal crushing bones filled the air. Slowly, I looked over my shoulder at the man standing behind me.
"Aren't you going to help them?" I asked, keeping my gaze on Titan.
For a moment, I expected him to try something — to attack me from behind when I wasn't paying attention. But he didn't move. Maybe he understood the difference in our power.
"Help who?" he asked.
The answer made me blink for a moment, then I smiled faintly.
I thought he would jump in to help Invincible since they had teamed up to take down Machine Head, but it seemed that because I already took down Machine Head, his objective was done.
"Well, never mind," I said turning back to the fight ahead.
Robot — my assistant — approached me, his mechanical voice calm and composed.
"Sir, I hope we need to take our leave. We have passed the time limit for staying in this dimension. In addition, there is a lot of work to be taken care of," Robot said.
As much as I liked to see the guardians crushed for fucking with my business, I guessed their punishment had been well handed to them.
"Don't worry you can now open the portals. I have disabled the devices Machine Head had implanted in the room to inhibit your abilities," Robot inquired.
I extended my arm, and a green portal opened up in front of us.
All the guardians were down — not dead, but mostly unable to move due to their injuries or unconscious. Battle Beast had managed to wreck them in seconds.
"Well folks," I said with a slight smirk, "I guess I'm gonna take my leave. I'm a busy man, you know."
"Where do you think you are going?"
Invincible's voice came through weak and ragged. He lay on the floor, bloodied and half-conscious, struggling to speak through pain.
"You know, kid," I said calmly, "if you wanna survive, you've gotta learn to let go. You have to accept reality — that not everything is good, as you will see soon enough."
As I spoke, my mind replayed the events that would soon unfold. His father, Omni-Man, was going to turn into the worst villain and wreck him like Mike Tyson beating up some tank-town palooka in a grudge match where the ref refused to stop the fight.
"Sir, we gotta go now. I sense the GDA is approaching — they are two minutes out," Robot said, his sensors picking up the distant hum of helicopters closing in.
"Well then, how about you give this card to Cecil," I said, pulling out a small metallic card . "Tell him that if he needs to do business, he can contact me with that."
I tossed the card toward Invincible, who was now barely conscious. It landed beside his hand, bearing the shining logo of my Adams Company.
"Guess we will have a nice partnership in the upcoming future," I said, turning my eyes toward Titan. "Don't mess up, or you're gonna be like your friend here."
I raised my hand slightly, revealing Machine Head's head, his lifeless robotic eyes staring blankly. Titan only narrowed his gaze and stayed silent.
Battle Beast and Robot stepped through the portal first.
Before leaving, I gestured toward Titan, opening a smaller doorway beside him. "A way out," I said evenly. "Before the GDA comes bolting in with their new tech weapons."
He shook his head. "I have my own means."
Titan walked over to Invincible, crouching slightly beside him. "Sorry, buddy," he said. "You were of much help, but circumstances have changed."
Isotope appeared beside him, placing a hand on Titan's shoulder. In an instant, they vanished.
All Mark could see at that moment was me — stepping through the green portal as it closed behind me.
And just as it sealed shut, the GDA burst in through the broken walls, weapons drawn and drones buzzing.
Mark's vision then completely blurred. His breath grew shallow.
Then he lost consciousness of everything
