Chapter 1 - Shadow of Death

'Shit! This is not what I had in mind when I moved to Brooklyn.'

Max hissed as he dogded another peice of broken alloy in the air. His thoughts were ironic since Brooklyn was not the only place invaded by The Fallen.

The world was in turmoil. The Fallen, which had been sealed in the depths of Hell by the Divine thousands of years ago, have escaped. With their escape, legions consisting of millions of beasts, monsters and titans knows as Creatures of the Void followed.

There were millions of these Creatures, but led by only 7 of The Fallen. The Fallen were incredibly intelligent and blessed by Seven Princes of Hell. Each of The Fallen led millions of the Void Creatures and invaded each of the seven continents.

The Fallen were dark beings of unfathomable power and authority. Their will seemed to reshape and apscure the World itself. There we seven of them, each of them a being not to be trifled with. Even The Divine were wary them, which was to say a lot since The Divine feared nothing.

The Fallen were ruthless, savage and cunning. No creature, let alone Man, could survive an encounter with one of them. Now that the Princes of Hell have decided to unleash all them and wage war against the Legion of God, that could only mean one thing.

The Apocalypse.

The End.

Darmu, the Lord of Darkness, is the leader of The Fallen and his intellect and intelligence is nothing short of outstanding. He was leading his legion of Creatures into eradicating South America. The South American continent seemed to have had run out luck. Especially Max, who had come into contact with the Lord of Darkness himself.

'I think I just peed a little'

He shivered as he watched the being shrouded in unfathomable darkness approach with slow steady steps. All around this being, light seemed to dim, and the darkness looked deeper, darker and colder. He could not even the tell the being's height, let alone tell what he looked like. He could tell though the being standing about six dozen meters away from him was not a normal Fallen. His presence and will, even from a great distance, made Max shiver involuntarily, and crouch on the ground like a dying bug.

'Damn. I thought we still had more time.'

As he watched helplessly from the ground , something alse strange happened. The darkness which seemed unpenetrable a minute ago, slowly dissipated and warm sunlight veiled the world again. Or at least Max thought it was sunlight. He couldn't really tell what was what anymore. Staring at the Great Being in front of him drained a good chunk of his life force. What happened next though, seemed to shake the very fabric of reality itself. It was as if he was in the presence of something sacred, something he was not supposed to witness. The light grew brighter and brighter still, until it was beyond blinding, forcing Max tightly shut his eyes and grimace.

'Damn it! What the h...'

Before he could finish that thought, a deafening sound assaulted his ears, followed by a massive thunderous shockwave. Rocks shattered, the ground cracked, the Earth shook and Max could feel his bones rattling. All of this happened in an instant. Max slowly and dizzly opened his eyes and could not believe what he saw. In a split second of the encounter, the city of Brooklyn had been turned into a desert. Countless buildings shattered and some reduced to ash. There were sounds of war all around him. Battle cries assaulted his ears. He tried to focus on the beings that had just clashed in front of him. What he saw made him sweat and shiver uncontrollably.

'The... the...'

He couldn't even form a single thought. There in front of him, stood a being which seemed to be favoured by Light. This Light was different. It was warm, ancient, blinding, it seemed to be even alive. No. It wasn't just light. It was will. Authority. Power. Max instantly knew the being that stood between him and the Lord of Darkness. It could only mean one thing.

The Divine had arrived.
