Chapter 25 - 25

25: Chapter 25 Arriving at Rogue Town, the Town of Beginning and EndOn this day, the Straw Hat Adventurers finally arrived at Rogue Town, the town of beginning and end.

"Everyone! We can go to Rogue Town now!Meet at the port in six hours!" Luffy quickly got off the boat.

"Oh!" Everyone agreed and dispersed. The Straw Hat Adventurers must have had their own adventures in this town where they began and ended.

Luffy thought so, then he tightened his straw hat, put on a black cloak, and headed straight for the execution platform of Pirate King Roger.

Speaking of which, I'd seen a depiction of the execution platform in the original novel in my previous life. There wasn't anything special about it there, but it still attracted so many pirates, eager to get a glimpse of the legendary scene.I wonder what it would feel like to go there in person now.

Luffy was walking down the street in Rogue Town when he suddenly caught sight of a humble shop on the side of the road.A line of words was etched crookedly on the wooden door: Gol D.Roger.

Isn't this the tavern owned by the owner who worships the Pirate King Gol D.Roger in the original novel? Now that I'm here, how can I not go in and take a look?

"It's closed. We'll be closing after today!" The tavern owner, who looked very old, saw someone walking into the tavern and quickly ordered them to leave.

Luffy pointed at the words on the door and looked at the skull on the table and said, "I'm not here to drink.I'm here to inquire about Gol D.Roger."

After listening to this, the old man was silent for a while and did not see the guest off.Instead, he continued to talk about Roger's great achievements.

Luffy was quite interested in the story of the Pirate King.Gol D.Roger conquered the Grand Line and left behind the so-called One Piece on the final island of Raftel, attracting countless pirates to the Grand Line and ushering in the Great Age of Piracy.Despite having achieved unparalleled honors, he realized his mortality was imminent and immediately gave up the glory and adulation of the Pirate King to surrender to the Navy, where he was publicly executed.

What motivated him to do such a thing? Why did he give up everything he had as the Pirate King? Why did he choose to publicly execute him and usher in the Great Age of Piracy? It seemed as if a thread of fate connected all of this, but there was always a key piece of information missing to reveal the truth.

Perhaps Roger's surrender and subsequent execution seemed foolish, carefree, and even insane to others in this world. But looking at the bigger picture, it seemed as if Roger intended to use his own life to completely muddy the waters.

Then all doubts return to the beginning. What is Gol D.Roger's motive?

As a member of the D clan, how could he not know the true meaning of D?As the Pirate King, how could he not have the ambition to change the world? As the person closest to Joyboy, how could he not know the truth of this world?Didn't he want to be Joyboy? He did!Not only did he think about it, he took concrete action.

But the conditions seemed unfulfilled, and he failed.Everything was back to square one.But how could the Pirate King accept this?He left behind the so-called One Piece, ushering in the Great Age of Piracy and completely muddying the waters of the world. What purpose lay hidden behind all these actions? This purpose cost the Pirate King his life, and he became a beacon, guiding those who followed. He ignited a fire in the hearts of all, making everyone yearn for the One Piece. But if all this was done simply to find the One Piece, it would be too far-fetched.What was the deeper reason?

Luffy was so lost in thought that he didn't notice the old man had finished his story.

"Hey!You little brat! Are you making fun of me, an old man?" the old man roared.

"Oh, sorry, I was thinking.By the way, I'm not a pirate." Luffy replied.

"What? If you're not a pirate, why are you wasting your time?Get out!" The old man was about to chase him away.

"I don't agree with Roger's actions. He ushered in the Age of Pirates. While it made the world more vibrant, it also made the sea treacherous and dangerous, leaving countless families broken and their lives destroyed. It was unfair to rashly start the Age of Pirates, even though at the last moment, there was hardly a better solution. But in my eyes, a thief is a thief, and no matter how glamorous the packaging, it can't change the fact that pirates do evil. The consequences of Roger's decision are definitely not what he wanted to see, because in your story, Roger is a righteous, brave, wise, and charming pirate.

The Roger in your story never did evil, never killed innocent people, and wherever he went, he tried his best to help others.Pirate King Gol D.Roger was the least pirate-like of all. Now, countless pirates set out to commit evil, and as long as they do evil, it's wrong.Justice may be late, but it will never be absent.

The old man was stunned and began to doubt his ears.

"Oh, by the way, did Roger say who he was waiting for?Joyboy?Unfortunately, I don't intend to be Joyboy, and no one in the world will be Joyboy.People in the world will only be themselves.I will not be Joyboy, nor will I be Gol D.Roger.I will surpass them." Luffy said calmly, drank the wine in the glass, turned and left.

"Oh, by the way, my name is Monkey D.Luffy.I am now sailing as a member of the Straw Hat Adventure Group, and I am the captain.Just for adventure and justice!" Luffy stood at the door of the store with his back to the sun.

oldPeople stared at Luffy's receding back for a long time, unable to come back to their senses, feeling only dazzled.
