Chapter 3 - Mei: I woke up and saw two Kevins

As Phainon was about to leave the squad, a familiar yet strange voice reached his ears.

Phainon froze on the spot, and in that instant, it was as if he was transported back to when he was a small child, a long, long time ago.

"Quick, tell me, what is that?"

Little Phainon eagerly asked the young girl in front of him.

The girl, however, unhurriedly scrutinized the card in her hand, occasionally glancing at little Phainon's reaction. Seeing the anxious expression on his face, the girl chuckled softly.

"Alright, I was just checking your reaction."

"It's this card, right? Hmm~, its name is 'Savior'."

Little Phainon scratched his head, a bit confused.

"Savior? What does that mean?"

"I won't read the long description. Simply put, this card means… you will become a hero admired by everyone, protecting the world with the sword in your hand, and saving many, many people from terrifying enemies. How about that? Isn't it great?"

Little Phainon thought about it in silence for a moment, and the girl asked back, a little puzzled.

"What's wrong? This is a good card!"

"But I don't want to be a great hero. I just want to stay in the village and be with everyone."

Little Phainon didn't hide his thoughts and spoke them out.

"Grandpa and Grandma said there are many bad people outside, and it's because of them that there's always war… I don't want to save those bad people. I just want to be the village's little hero."

The girl looked at the little boy in front of her, listening to his most ordinary wish, and simply smiled softly. But within that smile, something seemed to be hidden.

Phainon took several deep breaths, slowly suppressing the emotions in his heart and the memories in his mind.

He now had only one thought: to turn around and look at the owner of that voice.

Elysia looked at the young man standing motionless not far away and felt a strange sense of familiarity. This made her feel puzzled, but she didn't pay too much attention to it.

She said to someone in the squad:

"You guys are too slow, aren't you? If you're any slower, Mei will be taken away by me, and then you won't be able to report back! ♪"

One of the squad members glanced at Mei behind Elysia and another person who looked almost identical to Phainon. There was a strange look in his eyes, but he didn't show it.

"Thank you, Captain."

Elysia didn't mind, she just waved her hand and also looked at the little girl next to the soldier, greeting her with a smile.

"Hello, I am Elysia, a girl as beautiful as a flying flower. You can also call me Sister Aili! ♪"

Perhaps the little girl was frightened by the disaster, as she didn't react much, just nodded blankly and looked at Elysia.

Phainon, who had heard all the conversations, also remembered the girl's name, Elysia. He turned back with some difficulty, and just one glance made the emotions he had suppressed surge up again.

His azure pupils trembled incessantly, mainly because she was too similar to the girl in his memory. If she were still alive, she might look like the girl in front of him now.

At this moment, Elysiaalso felt Phainon's undisguised gaze. She looked over with some confusion, but also froze on the spot.

Not only Elysia, but Mei and the other person behind her also froze.

Because Phainon and Kevin looked too similar; standing together, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them twins.

However, at this moment, Phainon's gaze was entirely on Elysia, and he didn't notice the two people behind her.

Elysialooked at Kevin behind her with some hesitation, then looked at Phainon in front of her. She tilted her head, her mind full of questions. In her memory, Kevin didn't seem to have any siblings.

But what was going on with the person in front of her? This question left Elysia perplexed, but politeness made her want to go forward and greet this young man who bore such a strong resemblance to Kevin.

Just as she extended her hand, she noticed the Advancing Honkai Beast behind the young man. Although the smile on Elysia's face remained radiant, the bow in her hand was already swiftly drawn to a full moon.

Then, a pink arrow shot directly towards Phainon. Phainon, still in a daze, did not perceive the danger of this arrow and remained standing motionless. The arrow grazed Phainon's strands of hair and pierced the Advancing Honkai Beast behind him.

This also brought Phainon back to his senses. He glanced at the dissipating Honkai Beast behind him, then looked at Elysia in front of him.

After taking a deep breath, a smile also appeared on his face.

"Hello, my name is Phainon. I hope we can be friends. And the two friends behind you… friends?"

It was at this moment that Phainon truly saw Kevin behind Elysia. In that instant, even he himself was a bit puzzled. If looking alike was one thing, but they looked too alike.

Elysia also responded enthusiastically. She was naturally a person who liked to make friends, so she wouldn't refuse Phainon's request.

"Of course, I'd also be happy to be friends with Phainon. But, do you really not know him?"

Elysia pointed at Kevin behind her, looking at Phainon with curiosity. This made Phainon scratch his head awkwardly. As for why he was awkward, he didn't know himself.

"I really don't know this friend. Perhaps it's just a coincidence."

Kevin also looked at Phainon with surprise, sizing him up and down, then nodded in approval, resting a hand on his chin.

"Phainon, you are just as handsome as I am."

"…"

"…"

"…"

Kevin's single sentence instantly silenced everyone present, making it difficult for anyone to tell whether he was being narcissistic or genuinely complimenting.

Phainon was also amused by Kevin's words. After a couple of light chuckles, he also spoke.

"I see this friend is no less impressive. It's the first time I've met someone whose appearance can be compared to mine. May I ask what this friend's name is?"

"No problem, no problem. Just call me Kevin."

Mei, standing to the side, rubbed her temple with one hand, somewhat unable to bear looking at the two of them. Unable to stand it any longer, she reached out and twisted Kevin's waist, instantly silencing him.

Elysia also watched the scene with a smile, but the perceptive Phainon noticed a deep sense of nostalgia hidden in her eyes, as if she was reminiscing about this moment.

But it was only for an instant. Although he was confused, he didn't think much of it.

However, the sky above had already been covered by dark clouds without their knowledge, and streaks of crimson lightning rolled within the clouds.

At the same time, Phainon, Elysia, and Kevin all sensed that powerful force.

Phainon and Elysia felt the aura, while Kevin's was purely intuition. His intuition told him that there was an extremely dangerous presence in the dark clouds.

Sky Titan? No, it's not the same power as a Titan. Could there also be a being similar to a Titan here?

Phainon couldn't help but wonder, but he had already decided in his heart to go and investigate. As soon as he turned to look, he found that Elysia had already run far away, and he only heard a sentence she left behind from a distance.

"You guys follow them and leave here. Don't worry about me."

Kevin and Mei had already discovered Elysia's strength on their way here. Although they were very worried, they didn't follow her.

But Phainon was different. Even with an arrow capable of piercing a Honkai Beast, it was not enough to contend with Titan-level combat power.

Phainon rushed out without a second thought. Kevin behind him tried to stop him but found that he couldn't keep up with the other's speed at all.

He had no choice but to give up, only able to silently wish them well in his heart.
