Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 Three Shots to Repel The Enemy

"Pay attention to Chakra Consumption! Swap with the reserve team if you can't hold out! We must maintain continuous long-range suppression!"

An Iwagakure's Jonin loudly commanded. The other Shinobi desperately spat rocks towards the Sunagakure's mountain peak.

Suddenly, a dazzling light shone from the mountaintop, attracting everyone's gaze.

"Focus on defense! Raise the walls!"

A team leader sensed danger and shouted.

Immediately, several dozen Iwagakure's Shinobi rushed forward to use their Ninjutsu.

[Earth Release: Earth City Continuous Walls!]

Walls rose one after another in front of the long-range attack unit… over thirty of them, each as thick as an adult's palm.

The next second.

A blinding light erupted. An orange beam streaked down like a meteor, instantly piercing through over thirty walls and impacting the area where the long-range attack unit was positioned.

Everything fell into silence.

In the silence, shockwaves spread outward in all directions, sweeping away everything.

Then, a thunderous explosion.

Accompanied by a pillar of fire dozens of meters in diameter shooting into the sky, an earth-shaking roar echoed across the entire battlefield.

Everyone was stunned.

'An explosion engulfing hundreds of meters… what kind of power was that?'

'If a few more shots like that came, how could the war possibly continue?'

"Don't be afraid! Such a high-powered attack must consume an enormous amount of Chakra. They can't possibly keep firing continuously." A seasoned Kumogakure's commander immediately stepped forward to boost morale.

As he imagined, the Allied Forces regained their composure upon hearing this.

But less than a second later,

On the enemy's mountaintop, that dazzling light shone again.

The morale that had just been boosted was instantly replaced by fear. Even the Kumogakure's commander who had just stepped forward to boost morale had his eyes widened, his veins bulging in fury.

Because the light was aiming at him.

"Ryuji, what are you doing?"

Seeing Ryuji, who had just fired one shot, immediately preparing to fire again, Pakura quickly stopped him. "Your Railgun can only fire two more shots! Use them on crucial targets!"

"Now is crucial!" Ryuji looked down at the Allied Forces. Most of their faces showed terror. "The enemy doesn't know the Railgun can only fire two more shots. They're frightened."

"So?"

"They must breach our village before the Shinobi out on missions return. Giving them the illusion that the Railgun can be used infinitely, making them think they can't breach the village in a short time… we might achieve victory without further fighting."

As he spoke, another Railgun shot was fired.

The thick beam plunged into the enemy ranks, triggering an explosion hundreds of meters in diameter, engulfing countless individuals, their fates unknown.

Those nearby were also knocked off their feet by the blast, unable to stay steady.

The enemy was terrified, their allies' morale soared.

The Sunagakure's Shinobi, who had no idea the Railgun's stored energy could only fire four shots, all thought victory was assured. They waved their weapons, shouting and roaring at the enemy.

Celebrating while provoking.

Without the slightest hesitation, Ryuji continued charging energy.

The cannon barrel gathered electrical energy, shining with a dazzling light.

"Retreat!"

The enemy commander decisively gave the order.

Although experience suggested such a powerful attack couldn't be fired too many times,

The enemy's reaction seemed completely contrary to that.

If the one launching the attack was bluffing, that would be one thing, but it couldn't be that everyone was bluffing.

As a Shinobi with rich war experience, analyzing the situation from subtle features of the enemy soldiers' expressions was a basic skill.

He didn't believe every Sunagakure's Shinobi was an Oscar-winning actor, each capable of deceiving a seasoned veteran like him.

However...

"Anything is possible. The possibility that the enemy is bluffing is not zero." The enemy commander watched the increasingly dazzling light on the mountaintop, murmuring, "If the enemy is not bluffing, they won't care about Chakra Consumption. This attack, which can at most kill some enemies, will land."

"If the enemy is bluffing, then their Chakra is insufficient. Following the principle of using good steel on the blade, they will inevitably stop to conserve Chakra."

"Let me see, is Sunagakure bluffing, or have they truly developed such a terrifying weapon!"

Whoosh!

The beam tore through the air, plunging into the earth. A fireball dozens of meters high rose from the desert.

The enemy commander's face darkened. He turned and left without a hint of hesitation.

The elite unit that infiltrated the enemy village showed no activity. Meanwhile, the enemy held a fortified position and possessed such strategic weaponry.

The Sunagakure Annihilation Plan had failed.

The Sunagakure Annihilation Plan… this was a blitzkrieg.

Their original plan was to destroy Sunagakure before the Shinobi out on missions could receive word and return.

Then, relying on Sunagakure's terrain, they would engage the gradually returning Sunagakure's Shinobi in battle until all were killed.

But given the current situation, it was impossible to capture Sunagakure in a short time.

He had to lead the surviving personnel out of the Land of Wind before the Sunagakure's Shinobi out on missions returned.

The desert was Sunagakure's territory.

Despite their numerical advantage, if they clashed head-on with Sunagakure in the desert, they might be wiped out by a sandstorm before even seeing the enemy.

"I'd heard Sunagakure was dedicated to researching Tailed Beasts. This weapon must be a result of that research!" The enemy commander took one last look back at the two peaks guarding Sunagakure's gate. Seeing the light shining once more, he quickly waved his hand, commanding, "Faster! Anyone who wants to live, run faster!"

Shinobi are not ordinary soldiers.

Whether advancing or retreating, their speed is astonishing.

From the commander's first order to his second urging command, they had already run over a kilometer away.

And immediately after the initial order was given, they had instantly covered several hundred meters.

On the mountaintop, the light that had just begun to shine gradually faded.

"They should be out of safe range now."

Everyone couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

"We won! We won! We won!"

"Woo-hoo!!!"

"All thanks to Ryuji-sama's secret weapon!"

"Right! As soon as Ryuji-sama arrived, he scared the enemy into retreating with their tails between their legs!"

"Long live Ryuji-sama! Long live!!!"

On the mountain.

Seeing the enemy truly retreat, everyone cheered and celebrated. A large crowd of Sunagakure's Shinobi surrounded Ryuji, loudly praising him.

Pakura was pushed to the outside, still finding the scene before her unbelievable.

"So many people... were actually scared off by just three shots."

Thinking back, she had tried to stop Ryuji from firing the last shot.

Because she didn't know if the enemy would launch another attack.

If they did attack again, the Railgun, having exhausted its Chakra, wouldn't be able to deliver a crucial blow.

But Ryuji fired without hesitation.

And said, "If I don't fire this shot, the enemy will counterattack. Only by firing it will the enemy truly withdraw."

The result was exactly as he said.

Pakura wasn't particularly clever, but she wasn't stupid either.

She hadn't fully grasped the situation at the time, but after connecting the dots, she immediately understood.

Ryuji had completely read the enemy commander's psychology.
