Chapter 1 - Fighter's Sky

Part 0: Prologue

12/21/2025

...

The game is gone.

I just got a warhammer... God damn it.

Well... it was fun while it lasted.

I remember some kid saying that once he got his christmas money, he'd spend it all on this game.

I can't imagine what would've happened if he actually did.

What's next...?

I guess that's one reason to stay off the internet.

It's not like I don't have anything better to do.

It's been a week.

It's still not up.

The developer said that he was working on it!

It should be back any moment now...

Yeah. He's lying.

This game isn't even worth bringing back up.

Too much work, too little players, too little money...

I can understand him...

So, there isn't any hope any more. That's fine.

I can live with that.

...?

Huh... a link?

I stare at it. My hand hovers over the mouse

Is... is this really it?

I click.

Holy crap. It is...!

SkyFight is back!

***

I just created the first clan ever: CURSE.

Players I know from the old days are logging in one by one.

Then a new clan pops up: MAFIA.

Wait.

I know who's behind that.

Of course. Just what I needed.

To hell with this game—this man should've gone. But it's back now.

And so is he.

It seems to be a trend among people to name their clans after people they idolize.

***

Within a couple of hours, I was able to rack up 300 kills. There aren't that many people after all.

But I'm only 100 kills behind MAFIA. How annoying.

They already have 10 people?

I'm just one person. How is that fair?

YVES has returned.

Tomorrow, they'll be Top 1. I need to stay neutral with them as much as possible.

And ROYAL... by Lilianne.

She's got influence stacked high enough to crush anyone dumb enough to cross her. Definitely staying off their radar.

Well, I'm heading off to bed now.

I should invite somebody to maintain our position while I sleep.

"Kai"...? Welcome aboard.

***

The lava island glowed in the distance.

On it, a sign read "DIAMONDS", with a timer pulsing faintly.

A dozen players surged forward from the spawn area, funneled through the large house positioned directly infront.

Three people have to be at the area to activate—and the timer waited for no one.

A warhammer struck.

Then struck again.

Then again.

From a cliff above, it crushed anyone unlucky enough to get caught under its head.

'God— these people are SO annoying!' someone snapped, as the house became a battlefield no one was meant to get past.

Players were equipped with GOD armor, armor adorned with every high-tier enchantment. Blows that would have shattered lesser gear barely staggered their targets.

Fights dragged on, messy and relentless.

Anyone near the edges would get knocked far out of the map.

The DIAMOND sign flared.

The timer was neared zero.

Three figures finally stood their ground, almost triumphant, a final surge before them.

They never saw the warhammer descending from above.

...Nor the end it brought.

The timer hit zero.

Light burst from the sign.

But the one who collected it—

was someone else.

Part 1: New Player

'This is... exactly like Blockpixel.' a newly-arrived Akio comments.

The game was recommended to him by his brother, he had heard so many incredible stories from it.

But the game didn't quite match his expectations.

Traders stood by the pillars, lively chatter filled the air.

'Oi, was it not 20 fragments for 120 diamonds? Hello! That's 5!'

'It says here 20, that should be 20 for you too.'

'Let's do a re-trade.'

Groups of players clustered by the edges.

Akio walks up to a floating leaderboard, two others discussing by.

Curious, he reads the board:

'[1] YVES, [2] ROYAL, [3] MAFIA, [4] VOID, [5] CURSE, [6] CDRIFT ...'

He overhears a conversation: comments on YVES—a clan from the previous iteration of the game.

'Are they alt-farming? How did they get thousands of kills in just 3 hours?'

'YVES has to be full of random people. Like, they're just on the Top 10 because of the amount of people...'

'Right? You could just recruit anyone and they'll kill while you sleep.'

A voice cuts through the calm.

'—Are you serious?!'

'He left! I'm the only person in this clan now!'

The player, known as Sorzcery, had forgotten that clan members couldn't invite others.

The individual he had hoped would help maintain their position only wanted to help grow a promising clan.

'Who else is there to invite?'

Of course, no reputable clan invited random players off the street.

Recruitment had become a slow, careful process.

For now, Sorzcery had no choice but to accept that.

Akio glanced at the player, puzzled. What's the point of clans anyway? Why does position even matter?

Then, a wave of players rushed towards a gate, to a house positioned directly infront of spawn.

So that's where the real game was.

Akio soon followed.

A little notification bar popped up in the bottom right corner.

[WARNING: PvP enabled! Other Players Can Attack You]

Akio barely made it past the gate.

When PvP is enabled, conflict is almost immediate.

It doesn't help that he's not equipped with armor. He becomes an easy target for those willing to up their kill-count.

Players without armor, leaving the safe-zone and attacking mindlessly are called "Bots" within the community.

They're like food for other players, but the nutrition is XP.

An experienced player spots him, and without hesitation, lands a clean hit enhanced by a crit modifier.

Akio attempts to counter—he clicks frantically, but he misses every hit.

This gave the opponent a window to counter, allowing them to finish Akio off in two strikes.

Each attack triggers a 0.7-second cooldown, forcing a brief wait before the next hit can be made.

Where on Earth did he get Iron?

How do I even obtain anything?

A voice behind answered,

"To obtain anything, click on signs placed around the map.

Behind you, there should be a snowisland right 'round the corner.

But to get to it, you'll have to jump across tiny islands.

There's a pit in the center of the island. I suggest you be quick. The timer on the sign is only 2 minutes.

I already told you where the Iron sign is. That's the most important. Everything else you'll find a lot

later, and will need later."

To be continued...
